I expect this mower will last several seasons with decent care. ruclips.net/user/postUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend Also, I ran across the problem with it not starting the 2nd time I used it. There is a safety switch which is pushed in by the chute or mulching piece being attached to the deck. I took the cover off and it wouldn't start. Put it back on, no problem. It takes only a minute with 2 easily accessible wingnuts and no tools. This mower starts up first crank each time and it is a joy to use. It also mows in reverse by putting the key to the reverse area after starting and pushing in the triangular button. It will stay in reverse mode until you turn it off. All in all, for my homeowner needs, I really like this mower-and at 70 bucks a cut here in Miami, it's already more than 1/3 paid for itself in a month.

Your method reminds me of a story my father told me about a tow truck operator who made a bet with a dozer operator he could drive it out of the mud it was buried in. The operator said it was impossible and took the bet. The tow truck operator chained crossties onto the tracks. The dozer walked up on top of the mud. As the ties came out behind the dozer he took them off to chain them onto the front. A lot of messy work but he made some nice coin off the operator. The operator said it worth it because he now knew he would never have to call him again.
Living in south Louisiana we have to deal with mud also. Found out a zero turn will get stuck quicker than a tractor type mower, especially when you try to turn in soft ground. Great video. Gave me something to consider next time I’m stuck!

I thot it was gonna be the old tractor trick, but most don't know it. FYI, I've found over the years that you never really need the maker's rpm recommendation to cut grass or even brush. With a 100 hr. motor life, this equates to a) less stress b) less rotations for the work done, and c) longer life. I put a cable, pulley, and handle on my discharge chute to squeeze thru tight spots and throw grass farther and scattering it, unhooking it when discharging towards houses, cars, or people.

Chud, I thought you were going to mount a pulley, on the rim with the 2 studs. Hook a cable around, somehow to a tree.... A spinning wheel is kinda like a winch, isn't it?!
I really want to do that next time, but I am have trouble finding a wheel that will work great. I have an idea and may try it soon. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
@halnywiatr Only one problem Lath is 1/4 X 1 1/2 slats nailed to a stud wall after which Plaster is applied to finish the Interior walls. That two by four would have been more effective. Surface area has to be at least 10 times the surface area of the rebar.
I’ve got the same model, lawn tires, & just got it stuck falling into a soft spot, up to its frame, on one side, in my backyard. I had just as much fun. Not! Glad I had a truck & a long enough cable. Had to put the transmissions in neutral before pulling. Mower works great on my small property, but bought a John Deere Z540M to mow my Daughter’s 2.5 acres of field. It took 4 mowings to transform it into a lawn. Going to keep it that way!👍🏻👌🏻☑️
I thought I was the only one that ever got a zero-turn stuck. I made a lever out of a 10 ft 2 by 4 and a brick. Then I lift it up and put my Stihl lawn mower ramps under it. Works almost every time.
I also did a better version on this with my full size tractor, cut down a tree and chained 1/2 to each side and it came out. Was cool for the zero turn, but was necessary for my tractor. Keep the trick up your sleeve and thanks for watching.
I would have used the plentiful wood to lay down on the ground instead of the round stock rebar. It would have stayed put having the larger surface area
I had a Simplicity Conquest for 15 years but ended up burning to the ground when the engine was hunting, it back fired and burned to the ground. Thanks to Allstate I bought a new Simplicity Champion XT Zero Turn. So far I've used it on three occasions and got stuck three times. If I had it to do over again I'd buy another Conquest which would easily have lasted another 15 years. The hunting thing could have happened to any tractor. In the meantime I'll keep this idea in mind if towing it out of the mud with my Tahoe won't do it.
chud327 which ever direction you're driving out, make sure to shovel out that direction to make it easier to drive out. You want to drive out fast and not spin the cat litter in to the mud if possible. You want to free up the axle up from build up.
This is good info. thank you for posting. by the holes in the wheels look like you been stuck like this before I can see that this machine is realy stuck I had machine stuck like this. before But Had to just leave it till the ground drys out Then went back to it a week or so later after it had dried out and then I could drive it out starting like this good battery
The wheels actually came with holes in them and this is the first time I tried this trick on the zero turn. I did do it on my full size tractor and it worked great. thanks for watching.
I was only making a joke you did a good job getting it out if you ever have to do it again I recommend cinching your crossbar up against the tire much tighter it will work better
Apollo 29 Actually, it's called slotted U-channel strut, since you want to be nitpicky. People have called it Unistrut because of the brand that invented it being so big. It's like how no one actually says "Open-end adjustable wrench" unless you're in the military, they just call it a crescent wrench.
These are the same size that came on it, 18 in tall and 8 inch wheels. I don't remember the name, they were off of a Chinese 4 wheeler. I actually have a video of buying them and putting them on, if you want to see it. BTW, I have slick turf tires too. Thanks for watching.
chud327 awesome bro there Wanda brand I found them on eBay thanks, also just so you know the solid tires you can get for the front are awesome I modified a set and put them on and there super light and are the best investment yet lol
ive done this with a stuck farm tractor far from home all i had was 1 short log chain between the 3pt hitch arms wrapped it around one of the holes in the cast wheel/tire and a downed 10' tree log
How far away was your tractor? I sure could have used it, But it is ok, I got it out. That was probably fast than waiting for you and your tractor to show up, depending on where you are. Thanks for watching and for the offer, but I got it already.
I have an idea. Why don't you make a couple spools that can fit in your wheel rims. You can take off the lugs and bolt them on. Fasten a rope and secure the rope to something heavy; perhaps the four wheeler and when you turn the wheels, it would wrench itself out. The bolt on spools could be designed to fit more than one piece equipment and kept for the next time you get stuck.
LTD Lawn Service Don’t you just hate internet know-it-alls. Looks like you own a lawn service. I just bet your employees would have time to do all of this bs. I’m a farmer of 50 yrs. I would never waste time with such foolery. Looks like city guy syndrome. Lord what a waste of time and energy just to make a video.
Buy another set of rear wheels and use those bolt holes to bolt the extra wheels up to the original. That way you spread your weight over a larger area and get better flotation and traction on the wet soil. Also, letting some air out of the tires so the bottom flattens out and covers a larger area can help, just raise the mower up to compensate for lower frame height.
Funny that you would say that, have you seen my dually mower projects before? I love duals on my mud mowers, but on a grass cutter, it would lead to a bunch more weed eating. I don't usually take this on out in the soft stuff... Thanks so much for the comment and for watching,
I would guess the main jet in the carb is stopped up. Take it a part an try to clean it out. Maybe poke a wire from a wire brush through it. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
If you have one of those "button" fuel filters. Toss it and buy the larger clear ones. Dirty carburetor jets. Air leaking in from somewhere else in the intake manifold. Bad gasket/loose connection. Nikki style carburetor TOSS IT. Walbro style carburetor will last virtually forever with little to no maintenance if you put a three to five second squirt of Deep Creep in every mower. tank of gas. 22 years of no service on my carburetor. Briggs and Stratton 10hp and half acre lot.
If you want to get that out really easy, take those fabric straps that tie loads down, strap around your back drive tire, to your front tire by wrapping it around both front and back tire and let the back turn and it will also turn the front wheels making it like 4 wheel drive. But if your front tires are in as much mud and as deep as the back just get your truck and tow it out.
That fabric strap idea was brilliant, but it would not have worked... My truck was a 2 wheel drive and you think it would pull something out of the mud. You must believe in magic... Thanks again.

chud327 haha I'm just messing with you 😂I drove out to help a customer get his gravely out of the mud a few months ago and three of us lifted it out. But it was tough. Pretty cool solution you came up with
My truck and the Altima would have never made it out there, I would have had to have a 300 snatch rope. You could have suggested the tractor to get it out, that would have been more likely to work. Thanks for watching.
chud327 lol I didn't know ya had a tractor only seen 10+ mowers and a altima pulling a pretty sweet home ade pontoon boat, and if the tractor was a better choice why didn't you do it? Oh yeah the views! 11 minute vid at least 2 hours of preparing just to pull out a zero turn...it was my opinion expect many more there sunshine
My tractor is actually running on about 1/2 power currently. I think it needs a new fuel pump, but can't seem to find one. Until I figure out the mystery, I will have to not get seriously stuck...
I've saw people put 2x4s on the drive tires when stuck in mud. It would run parallel to the ground opposite to what you did it was to increase the surface area the weight is on to keep from sinking much. I have never had to do it but I don't get in mud much and when I do I luckily don't get stuck but it's a neat trick to keep in case it's needed
I have the same mower and have buried it in the ditch in the front yard several times, all I do is pick it up and move it over, had to use my truck one time though...nice tires by the way
Now just throw a 2×4 under the back of it and it'll pop it right on out. Putting those on the tires first and then slide a 2×4 for behind the tires. 8 foot 2 by 4 all the way across and it'll come right out in reverse!
If mower has power then turn your wheel bolt addition trick into a winch spool and winch out. Or if mower has no power and to save your transmission then stake down a tackle block into the ground and tie off a come along. Super easy.
Wow 1000 plus comments. Not sure if it would have helped here but when I get stuck with a zero turn I can usually grab it near one of the front wheels and rotate it 90 degrees and get out.

Good idea and thanks for watching.
@halnywiatr Only one problem Lath is 1/4 X 1 1/2 slats nailed to a stud wall after which Plaster is applied to finish the Interior walls. That two by four would have been more effective. Surface area has to be at least 10 times the surface area of the rebar.
What oil pressure?
What do you mean and thanks so much for watching.
Ya know, if you used a couple of planks and a 4x4 as a lever you could have had the damn thing out in 3 minutes
I didn't have planks on hand, but thanks for the tip. Thanks for watching.
Get er done and you did just that. American enginuity prevails once again by never giving up. Congrats 🎉 brother.
Thanks so much and thanks for watching.
How many been mowing around your pond and just say I can get a little closer dang pond reaches out grabbed zeroturn
I know what you mean! Thanks for watching.
Just Mike oh yes! Been there!
Happens to me all the time, I just go get my tractor and pull it out
Yup, no doubt about it !!
That's what my '94 Yota truck is for.
Going to keep it that way!👍🏻👌🏻☑️
Yes, keep it that way and I love a zero turn for mowing. thanks for watching.
Great effort! You could also bolt a hub to your wheel and winch yourself out with a rope spooled around the hub which acts as a capstan.
I actually plan to try that next time... I did it a while back on a John Deere mower, I worked pretty good. Thanks for the comment and for watching.
I thought I was the only one that ever got a zero-turn stuck. I made a lever out of a 10 ft 2 by 4 and a brick. Then I lift it up and put my Stihl lawn mower ramps under it. Works almost every time.
I might need to try that next time and thanks for watching.
I love it when a plan comes together!
Me too and thanks for watching.
Very interesting that I’m glad that worked. I’ll keep that in mind. Thanks for sharing your secret
Good point and thanks for watching.
Thanks so much and thanks for watching. Mine was getting stuck so much, I invested in a set of cheap atv tires and now I rarely get stuck.
Just buy two bags of cat litter at the dollar store and drive it out. It works on cars as well as construction equipment.
I could do that as an experiment for video purposes... I am a bit doubtful, but it would be a fun experiment. Thanks for watching.
chud327 Works. If it's buried to axle you have to clear it out. Smart towing services and construction guys use it all the time.
What do you mean "clear it out"?
chud327 which ever direction you're driving out, make sure to shovel out that direction to make it easier to drive out. You want to drive out fast and not spin the cat litter in to the mud if possible. You want to free up the axle up from build up.
Gotcha, what size bags will I need? Thanks for the replies.
@@chud327 it was a good story good ending I had to wait a week or for the ground to dry out enough to get my tractor out.
Thanks for the reply.
thats an old farmers trick
But it still works
When you have mud tires on your zero turn...I know I don’t want to live where you live!! Lol.
Right, I’ve gotten my z.t.r in some tight spots....but never got stuck in mud...but then again I don’t mow when it’s that wet
Thanks for watching
T do have some low spots on the farm. Thanks for watching.
I started to fixing mowers and flipping them
It seem like such a waist to fix a mower just to flip it over
I know of a commercial mower who buys small 12volt winches and mounts them on his zero turn mowers.
It is not a bad idea, thanks so much for watching.
Anybody that would drive a Zero turn into a marsh like that should be stuck! SMH!!
I got what I deserved and thanks for watching.
I was only making a joke you did a good job getting it out if you ever have to do it again I recommend cinching your crossbar up against the tire much tighter it will work better
Thanks and yes, that might work better.
The metal is called unistrut
I think I said that in the video, thanks for watching.
chud327 you did, when you were about to cut it.
Thanks, I thought I said it.
Apollo 29 Actually, it's called slotted U-channel strut, since you want to be nitpicky. People have called it Unistrut because of the brand that invented it being so big. It's like how no one actually says "Open-end adjustable wrench" unless you're in the military, they just call it a crescent wrench.
Well said.
What size tires and brand do you have I hate my slick tires
These are the same size that came on it, 18 in tall and 8 inch wheels. I don't remember the name, they were off of a Chinese 4 wheeler. I actually have a video of buying them and putting them on, if you want to see it. BTW, I have slick turf tires too. Thanks for watching.
chud327 awesome bro there Wanda brand I found them on eBay thanks, also just so you know the solid tires you can get for the front are awesome I modified a set and put them on and there super light and are the best investment yet lol
I should look into some front solids...
Good job. next time throw a 2x4 behind the tire to suck under In reverse.
I may try it and thanks for watching.
Because that works every time, right?
2x4 good, 2x6 better.
😂😂
ive done this with a stuck farm tractor far from home all i had was 1 short log chain between the 3pt hitch arms wrapped it around one of the holes in the cast wheel/tire and a downed 10' tree log
I did it with my tractor once too, link at the end of this video. Thanks for watching.
damn I would have just taken my tractor out there and pulled it out or lifted it out LOL
I have actually made a wheel winch on one of my mud mowers before, it worked great. Thanks for watching.
hey chud i think it was awesome that you showed all the failures. persistent and creative nice job
Thanks so much and thanks for watching.
If at first you don't succeed,,,,,,
That was a very good idea! I'll have to put that back in my memory banks! It just might come in handy one day!
Yeah, even more impressive, I used the same concept on my full sized tractor. It worked like a charm. Thanks for watching!
Honestly 2 men could of picked the rearend up. Couldn’t believe you were in sandals lol
I didn't have 2 men and flip flops are part of the dress code here in the summer. Thanks for watching.
Do you see two men lying around in the video? Common sense dude and let him wear what he wants to wear he isn't 5 years old
Thank you for internet policing. I’m allowed to comment as I see fit just as you are.
He says someone else got it stuck which implies 2 people.
Lift some weights and pick it up yourself. That’s what I do. That was a lot of work.
Good work,We all need a win
Thanks so much and thanks for watching
Buy another set of rear wheels and use those bolt holes to bolt the extra wheels up to the original. That way you spread your weight over a larger area and get better flotation and traction on the wet soil. Also, letting some air out of the tires so the bottom flattens out and covers a larger area can help, just raise the mower up to compensate for lower frame height.
Funny that you would say that, have you seen my dually mower projects before? I love duals on my mud mowers, but on a grass cutter, it would lead to a bunch more weed eating. I don't usually take this on out in the soft stuff... Thanks so much for the comment and for watching,
I have a question for Ya. Do you know why my mud mower is only running on choke?
I would guess the main jet in the carb is stopped up. Take it a part an try to clean it out. Maybe poke a wire from a wire brush through it. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.
Carbs dirty stopped up...stop using ethanol gas...and letting it sit
Ok thanks
Let me know what happens...
LOL! $25 come along would have been a lot easier, but maybe not as cool!
I have a come along, but nothing to hook it to. Plus, I wanted to try something different. Thanks for watching.
Thanks again.
it appears that you got some dirt in your pond .
That would be a good way to put it, thanks for watching.
Interesting video!! I understand that not everyone has other equipment available. I'm fortunate that I have a 700 Artic Cat 4-wheel Drive and a winch. But what if I'm somewhere I don't have access to the Cat. Very informative, LOVE your ingenuity!!!
Thanks so much and thanks for watching!!
i just take my backhoe 555C ford lift it up and out drag it off My backhoe is a BEAST
Yes, I wish I had one too. Thanks so much for watching.
if a 500 lb zero turn sinks totally, why would your 14,000 lb backhoe NOT sink....??
@@kevintomb Only a heavy equipment operator like me knows how. You can't get a backhoe stuck! can lift, drag, dig, build, or push its self out! even on high center, Plus its got balloon tires. Not like a dozer can get high centered and can't move
@@chud327 There nice to have for sure CHEERS
6:30 ..workin good! ..uh... that is chocolate ice cream isn't it?
looks like it and thanks for watching.
Way to much time on your hands. You said you just did this for your tractor..... Why not bring your tractor over with a rope to pull out. Duh.
Tractor would be the easy way out, but some of the viewers may not have a tractor. Plus my tractor is needing a fuel pump right now, so no tractor for me either. Thanks for watching and for the Duh moment.
Not to mention BURYING YOUR TRACTOR in all that SOUP out there !! I see standing water .... But ... That could be a "HOLD MY BEER" moment I suppose !!! LOL !!
What a waste of a good Saturday! I don't think your Craftsman was going to cut that grass anyway!
That was not a waste, I got my mower out. I think I mentioned in the video I was just taking gas to some other mowers. On your second thought, If you go back a year or so, you will see I cut something bigger. It took about three passes, but it did cut it. Thanks so much for watching.
Flat bar, aka unistrut.
That was two different things, thanks for watching.
That whole ordeal looks like just a good way to tear the s*** out of a lawn mower
Maybe and thanks for watching.
I can pick the back end of that mower up lol you wasted a whole day lmao
Well Mr. Muscles, where were you when I need help? I would love to see you try and thanks for watching.
chud327 haha I'm just messing with you 😂I drove out to help a customer get his gravely out of the mud a few months ago and three of us lifted it out. But it was tough. Pretty cool solution you came up with
Thanks so much for the reply. I have had several people say just pick it up out of the hole, I would like to see them try...
Leave that setup on after mower is unstuck and you can airate your lawn as you mow.
I guess you could... Thanks for watching.
Lol yeah grab a truck or pull it out with the altima done.
😂😂
I've saw people put 2x4s on the drive tires when stuck in mud. It would run parallel to the ground opposite to what you did it was to increase the surface area the weight is on to keep from sinking much. I have never had to do it but I don't get in mud much and when I do I luckily don't get stuck but it's a neat trick to keep in case it's needed
I have seen that, maybe I can try it next time and thanks for watching.
chud327 maybe so I would like to see it tested in that mud it a lot different from the mud I've saw it used in
I will see what I can do...
I have the same mower and have buried it in the ditch in the front yard several times, all I do is pick it up and move it over, had to use my truck one time though...nice tires by the way
I love those tires on it and thanks for watching.
Now just throw a 2×4 under the back of it and it'll pop it right on out. Putting those on the tires first and then slide a 2×4 for behind the tires. 8 foot 2 by 4 all the way across and it'll come right out in reverse!
That might just work and thanks for watching.
Great tip I’ve been using my zero turn less and my garden tractor more
But in this case both would have been stuck
If mower has power then turn your wheel bolt addition trick into a winch spool and winch out. Or if mower has no power and to save your transmission then stake down a tackle block into the ground and tie off a come along. Super easy.
I had a wheel bolted to my John Deere, it worked great! A come along would have been good too. Thanks for watching.
Zero turns just aren't made for soft, muddy conditions. Even tractor tread tires won't make them usable in muck.
Mine did pretty good in the mud until I put the deck back on. thanks for watching.
42lookc l….o,kmnbbb' huh
L,ko
Long wide boards under the tires i have gotten box trucks out of the snow like that. It's pretty much the same as making a bridge flat on the ground.
May have worked, thanks for watching.
Does everyone leave the throttle up when they turn the key off? It is like holding the gas pedal down on your car and turning the key off.
I usually go to idle first, thanks for watching.
you needed a second guy so you can rock the unit
Good tip and thanks for watching
Wow 1000 plus comments. Not sure if it would have helped here but when I get stuck with a zero turn I can usually grab it near one of the front wheels and rotate it 90 degrees and get out.
That is a good tip, just don't know that I am that strong. Thanks so much for watching.
New to mowin. Thanks for the tip. I didn't even think... What if I get stuck?
