I got the Amazon one with the cool case (at 5:01 ) for D&D (my character plays a flute, and this was the first thing I found for “wooden flute” that wasn’t really expensive) and the poem is engraved, but I think they painted over the engraving. I’ve never played a flute, though, so I don’t mind if it’s cheap
This video is so helpful! Thank you! Online shopping is such a risky idea but in my case I can only buy online ): . What's so weird is that my cheap dizi flute sounds better than my expensive hand-made dizi flute lmao. It really does depend on how they're made individually *cries in pitchy note*
@@fantasygirl4989 I'm from South East Asia. So i buy online through Lazada shop 👉🏻👈🏻 they have many cheaper ones there, I haven't tried other online shops though, i hope this helps >-
most of the flutes-dizis sold in amazon, ebay and similars are got from aliexpress or alibaba stores, then resale in more higher prizes. i got one in aliexpress cheap and it works so perfect, even the sound so clean and neat, but of course you must ask for functional dizis not for decorations or cosplys.in china most of stores have bamboo made that it is natural and they are willing to sale. so not expensive ones are the best.
Idk about the whole video but at 23:31 to 23:37 you nailed it.. 😂 Just joking... best regards to you,,, I learned lot from you...! I just admire dizis, Dizi player and dizi makers... All are so skillful and wonderful and I'm gonna become one good dizi player too..!! ♥️
Got my dizi from redmusic, it seems pretty good to me as a total beginner. Took ages to arrive coming from China and in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic. Lol.
Oh I've never actualky heard of those stores. I checked them out and they seem to have decent flutes. It would be hard to review their dizi beause they dont sell very weird ones haha. They would have to send me a few for me to try out Lolll and then I can make a video.
You know, you could be like some others who do ‘product testing’ and if you had an anonymous PO Box then fans could send you flutes your try out, lol. That would be fun, some of the crappy flutes you’d get would make amusing videos. 🤣
So there aren't good dizi on Amazon? Can you suggest a dizi for beginner sound good? I have a dizi that don't play high notes, only first basic octaves
Haha, oh I recently got one of those painted dizi around $15 from Aliexpress, was relying on buyers' feedback. But from my experience of playing a tin-whistle, inexpensive instruments aren't always bad. Yes, they may not be perfectly tuned and all but still can be decent in hands of a skilled player. I started learning with a $13 whistle almost a year ago, then bought another, even cheaper one, and just about 3 weeks ago have become an owner of a more expensive, high quality whistle. However, I'm not going to give up on my cheap ones because each of them has a unique tone that I love. Regarding dizi my only concern was cracking. The flute I got may not be a good one by your standards but it appears to be pretty well made and there's a chance it will hold on until I start making some progress, and if I fail, at least I won't regret spending $15, lol. In my opinion, it's ok for a beginner like me to buy a cheap instrument and make the most of it. So yeah, would be great if you try some of those out, I'm really interested.
Yeah if you're not sure about the instrument certainly get a cheap one first. My C key dizi was like $10 so... But if you want a good one they won't sell at a low price.
@@heartsonchannel Of course, I wouldn't expect flutes of good quality to be low-priced, usually I'm in search of a decent price/quality ratio, depending on my goals. So, if I get successful in learning to play dizi I'll surely consider better options. And I'm hoping you'll have some spare money, hehe;) Oh and by the way, I've chosen some of the beautiful songs from your repertoire to play - on a tin-whistle for the time being, although had to transpose most of them because all my whistles are in D. Always looking forward to new covers, your playing is really inspiring.
@@heartsonchannel Well, I do use the editing program to shift the pitch of backing tracks but have to transpose sheet music anyway if the original key doesn't fit. You don't need to do it because you use the number notation, and even though I've recently learned how to read it, I don't feel so comfortable as with the regular notation;) And besides, if the original key doesn't fit I usually choose between two keys to play on a D whistle - D and G, sometimes I need to try both to decide and transposition makes it easier. Not sure if this all makes sense to you, don't know how to explain better, lol.
I bought a beginner's flute from Bao Xiang Qian(鲍向前) on taobao, quality is pretty good, then I bought another cheap F key dizi without membrane hole from a different brand, because I don't want to waste those good quality membrane just for practicing. When buying a new flute please take the smelling into consideration. I'm not joking, sure you can't smell through Internet but cheap flute especially those with a paint usually has a strong smell, after several days of usage it gets lighter but still there and won't go away for a long time, my cheap beginner's flute from Bao which has no painting only has the smell of bamboo, but the black flute without membrane hole smells not good at all.
I'm glad you have interest in playing dizi! Yeah sometimes these cheap products can use bad material. Next time just buy a cheap bamboo flute with membrane hole and cover it with tape. This way you can use a membrane when you want.
Learning so much, thank you! 😮 Im actually a bit of a fan and keep listening to your cover of Oogway Ascends and Hero. 👍🏼 Thank you for sharing your talent and knowledge with us! 🥺🙏🏼
never, and i mean never use normal glue. also from what i know the membrane has to stick on a correct way, and not just held up. search online some alternatives, i think water may be one, but i recommend just use scotch tape untill you get membrane glue, or don't use any membrane yet
@@realcolifetina1871 Sorry to hear that. You might want to use tape then. Usually dizi sellers include membrane glue with the flute. Maybe you can get a new flute haha

the solid glue is ejiao, basically a gelatin used in Chinese medicine. u can just go to a Chinese medicine hall to get them

Huh, my dizi is a Dong Xue Hua model as well. I’m pretty happy with it but I’m just a total beginner. What would I know, lmao!!
If I had to name a brand it would still be dong xue hua.
TBH the rainbow band Dizi looks impractical but so obnoxiously flashy that I would get one just because
You can get those bamboo pocket sax's at any renaissance festival in Texas if you can find the Flute Cart, ask for Scott Boswell.
