    If I wanted to do the "independent" by myself instead of these companies, what type of software would be adequate? (I'm in Seattle). Can you do the signing on Adobe? Maybe record the session on Zoom or Teams? Where would you get the Electronic Certificate? Identrust? Is there someone cheaper or would you go with them since they're very well known?
    What about electronic seal? Is that something you could get once & keep on your own computer instead of having to use one with one of these companies? Where would you get an electronic seal independently? Would you just have clients pay you thru Square or CashApp/Venmo, PayPal, etc.?
    I know it would probably be a lot of time & hassle to sent up, but wouldn't it be worth it so you get all your $ & don't have so much of it scraped away by these independent RON companies?

    • @kimberlywolfe3482
      @kimberlywolfe3482 Год назад

      You'd have to look at that specific state's rules. In Washington (like most states, I believe), you have to be physically located within the state when you notarize something (be it in person or RON). It doesn't matter where the signer is - they could be in another state or country. Our rules are that you have to either live or work in our state, to get a WA commission.
      If you lived in CA & maybe worked in a nearby state - it may be possible to get commissioned there (check with S.o.S.), but it's my understanding you always have to be physically located in the state for which you were commissioned at the time you perform the notarial function. Don't think there's any way getting around that.

      It really is crazy how much notaries have to pay to try and make money, all this money is paid upfront without a guarantee that you’ll even make a dime choose the companies you work for wisely and personally I would avoid any company that uses credits let them go out of business

    If you charge the customer on your own, how do you do it? I have a square dongle thing that I can swipe customers' cards in-person, but online, do you request the customer's number? I'm wondering how many people will be comfortable with that. Or maybe I should bill them directly through my accounting software.

    • @sidehustleseattle
      @sidehustleseattle  3 года назад +2

      So some platforms allow you to charge through the platform itself so they'll put their cc info in after the signing and the platform will then deposit the money to you but if you're platform doesn't have that you can charge the signer via paypal, venmo, applepay, whatever they're comfortable with.

      Like to notarize your document? You can just go to notarize and they typically charge $25

      I wouldn’t recommend Signix personally- they’re pretty expensive. I’d try Secured signings or Live Notary for a more cost effective platform

    Hum let's see 1hr and a half=90min 5¢per min x 2 people =10¢per min
    10c x 90min= $9.00
    $75 - $9=$66 commission 🤔 it's adding up pretty quickly. 😂 But I do like your videos. It's those darn hidden fees. Don't do it.

    • @sidehustleseattle
      @sidehustleseattle  3 года назад

      Hahaha yea it's best to go with a platform that just has a flat transaction fee because it does add up quickly!

    Thanks for the video.
    I will let you know that from what you said you should not worry about being sued for releasing their “confidential“ information. If I’m understanding you correctly, you asked for information, they sent it to an email, and at the bottom of the email they include a supposed confidentiality clause. But you would have to actually affirmatively agree to the confidentiality clause they can’t just stamp it on the bottom of the document and bind you to that. There has to be a “meeting of the minds“ in a contract. So if you agree do something beforehand then you could be bound by it, but you can’t just be bound because they stamp it on the bottom of an email.

      Besides, that's just a blurb that's permanently attached to the signature block that applies to all the other info they often email. Sort of a catch-all. Mostly those things are used in case someone other than the one for whom the email was meant gets it.
      If your original email asked for the info & stated you needed it for your RUclips channel - they're agreeing to it if they don't specifically say something in the body of the email about you not transmitting the info they gave you.

    Thank you for this video! I watched both. Would you happen to know how often the Employer RON companies pay? I know for regular mobile notaries, it’s net 30 to 45 days.
