Glad you dipped your toes in a different pool!! I've tried tons of solid bodies, but when I tried a semi-hollow body, I was impressed. In fact, I still own it lol. But I'm a blues & rock player, so it fit in my collection to begin with.
Yep Wolfgang Van Halen plays a Semi-Hollow, His Dad believed that the semi hollow had more sustain. Great Playing as usual... Have a great week.... Cheers 🍻🥃🥃😎🎸🎼🎵🎶🎶🎶
I've wanted one of these for quite some time, just need to figure out where I'm going to put it. Our house is too small to convince my wife that "it's always been there".😆 As always thanks again for the reviews of affordable gear! Keep 'em coming!
👍🏻😎 Alex Lifeson comes to mind when I see and hear a semi hollow body. He played a Gibson ES-335 and ES-355 back in the mid to late 70's and early 80's.
I have bought 3 FF guitars recently and own 4 total. They are very well built and sound pretty good. The only issue I have had is the pickups are micro phonic on those last 3. Guess I’ll have to wax pot them. Great review Richard!
I confess - I've developed an addiction to this channel!😁 A welcome blend of humor/talent/skill as well as a naturally adventurous spirit ready to dive into the next/newest instrument we haven't yet seen or heard of. 🎸 This one is beautiful and I really enjoyed the "style" as expressed here in the first part of the video.☑🙂
I am liking and subscribing. I haven’t watched the video but I did see the thumbnail and zoomed into the DO NOT TOUCH MY GUITAR’ poster on the wall. I lold Thank you 🤪
Richard, My hair looks like it just grew during that awesome Firefly demo. I already bought a Grote w/ P-90s. I was really liking that you have time for semi hollow models at all. I just woke up so I missed out on the red binding. It looks cool. Like your Shredder alter-ego. You have the magic that the world keeps letting fall thru their fingers. I could listen to you rap about anything. Keep up the good work. The only other channels I have ever subscribed to is/are 'scarred' pick-ups and a homemade race car. I am subscribed to a Beatles forum where I have run out of things to say. Please, don't think me unkind if I don't really participate much. You're getting the rarest thing I have to give. Stay cool. Is that the Firefly on ebay from 2 days ago? Have a nice day! KC
P.S... As usual, I appreciate your quick acknowledgement to my comment, that means a lot to me bro. Like you, I'm mainly a hard rocker that plays solidbodies set up to go fast. But I've always wanted a guitar like this FF338 to kinda round out my collection for jamming, writing, recording. No doubt this type guitar can rock hard and fast but it can do almost everything else too. And it definitely brought out your sensitive side if I may say. Thanks again for this review.
Thats wild, I bought the FF Elite about a year and a half ago. Matte black, black pickup covers with red. Excellent guitar! I think I like the gloss better! As always, great review
When you restring it, try wrapping the strings over the tailpiece. I've seen a few videos where people do that to their Les Pauls and SGs and they say it offers more sustain and better tuning stability. I'm the same way when it comes to playing a different style depending on the guitar. If I'm playing my Jem Jr or other strat shaped guitar, I'm playing lead stuff and doing whammy bar stuff, harmonics etc. But when I play one of my Les Paul knockoffs or even my PRS, I tend to play more mellow rhythm stuff.
Dang, I have been checking these out for weeks now, i love acoustic sound but hate the bulky feeling, now I got to talk the better half into letting me have 1 more axe lol😂, great video man.
OK, wow! I was mulling over my next FF, I picked up the SG a few days ago and was blown away by the sound and quality. Im thinking a 338. I dont have a semi hollow in the collection. Man, that thing sounds good. Is the second # in the serial a 6? If so, you win!
Oh Richard, I like it too much. Feeling a sudden GAS attack coming on. (Edit: OMG, $189? I'm single and I spend that much at the grocery store every couple weeks. How on Earth do they make and sell a guitar like this for under $200? I've been looking at the equivalent Epis and they come in around $600. Amazing. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.)
My first and only Firefly (Explorer style) had a lifting fret issue that could even be completely fixed by a luthier (still sticks up a tiny amount) thanks to the ball end frets, but the guitar is just fine otherwise. I'd buy more, but I'm waiting for the Frankenfly to come back on sale and not sell out in 35 seconds. So I might never own another Firefly. lol Anyway, that one looks great. I especially love the inlays, and it sounds great too.
I love my blueburst FF338. Mine is also from the era when it had horns like a 335 instead of the Mickey Mouse ears they have now. I will be changing the microphonic pickups out for a set of humbucker sized P90s. I like a single coil sound, I put the same pickups on my Epiphone Les Paul Special and it sounds fantastic.
Another great review!Yes they are fun to play and you start learning the nuances of each one.I have two Grotes, one with humbuckers and one with p-90sThey each have there own character.I'm am an old goat, hah and am trying to get into shredding but I think I might be too late, hah!I was curious, could you tell me your go to picks, size, thickness, material and brands?Maybe it might help me with learning? Thanks again!!!!
That is the coolest looking semi hollow body guitar i seen on RUclips..😮😮 Only 189 dollars too?❤❤ I want one 😊 I'll save my money and get one just like you 😊 Red and black ❤ Thanks..
That's a pretty wide guitar at 22 inches, but I think the Gibson Firebird is little longer. It's like playing a surf board, play some tunes on the beach and then hit some waves after.
Very smart looking... well, not smart? Cool Taters...OK not Taters either! But sharp..ok, not like sharp points... but you know what I mean! Thanks Shreddermister 🤘 different guitars make good recording uses! Panned side to side! 👍 😊
Don't really like 335's either, but I have one of the Redid models because they make tones you just cannot get from other guitar shapes. Still don't care for the body shape overall, but the neck plays just like a Les Paul.
I have one. Its my favorite. I completely modded it, but its great. Yes its heavy but the controls BEHIND the bridge are for me. I have a mij Jackson DK2 and I fucking hate playing it. The volume knob is right next to the strumming and picking area. I constantly bump it and turn the pot.
Ask Zac has said that he believes different guitars should encourage you to play differently. This definitely seems like a guitar that encourages you to try playing something different!
Angus Young was only 5'2" and his SG looked like a baritone in his hands. I would hardly call AC/DC a disaster, but I'm sure your comment will be remembered and respected by people for years to come.
You just proved you can not only shred, but play anything you want. What a fantastic review. Firefly should be extremely happy with you.
Thanks Mitch!
Firefly constantly amazes me with their improvements on a regular basis 😮

Those new SA 126's are 🔥 too!

Hey KC, thanks so much for your support!
Semi-hollows are great fun for playing heavier music. I keep my semi tuned to D, and it's a chunky beast.

I'm the sensitive shredder 😁
@@thebaldshredder And there's nothing wrong with that. 😁
Another great review Richard thank you
Very nice. That is an impressive weight for that style of guitar.
Awesome review dude! Love the sound of a semi-hollow!
Me too!

I just received (7/17/24) my Firefly 338 (Dave Grohl) model in Metallic Blue. Awesome guitar!
Firefly is killing it and your playing is kickass as always!👍🤘
Great tones
Great review Richard! Good looking and sounding guitar!
Yes !! Love this one. Thanks for demoing
Wow Richard this is such an awesome guitar review I love it. Shred on dude.😃👍❤️🔥⚡️🎶🎸
I truly enjoyed watching❤😊
Sounds great man!
Very Cool, Thankyou. Stunning looking and sounding Guitar and playing. Awesome. All the best. Cheers
I hope they put out more guitars like this one (black and red) I'd really like to pick one up. Cool review 👍
The guitar sounds great. Especially the clean sounds.

I've been eyeing one of these. I've got two Fireflies, and they're kickass!
Edit: They've always got the most beautiful rosewood boards!
Love the red binding. Had one of the older models and a Grote semi-hollow. Didn't need 2 and I let the FF go. Hopefully I don't regret that.
I have 5 Firefly’s as well, all FFSP’s. Great guitars, I’d have more of them if they shipped to Canada.
I love it!!!💜 Marty McFly mode activated.😎
Just got my first Firefly FF338 (Dave Grohl like). Love it even more than my Epiphone Casino Worn. Thanks for review.
Up next for me: Ephiphone modern SG muse (blue).
Unless you can see the Firefly version as a better choice.
I haven't tried the SG
@@thebaldshredder please review. Also, Epiphone SG Prophecy, if possible. Thanks.
That guitar sounded beautiful.
Wow, sounds great!
Well sir,
If you decide you don't like the size or get bored
with it, i will gladly take it off your hands ☺️ 👍👍

Beautiful guitar. Not necessarily my style but stunning nonetheless. Great jam as always B.S.

Love the guitar. Love your chops more!
Question did they send it to you, or did you buy it yourself? Did they know who they were sending it to?
They sent it to me.
@@thebaldshredder To be clear, I'm not suspicious of you; I'm suspicious of them...
Just nailed the explanation for a world full of guitar collectors. Each guitar has a unique way of inspiring. #loudnproud
Plays everything. I'm building my own customized version of a semihollow guitar, i'm sure if someone would take my design they'd make huge bucks.
very nice Sir. tremendous sound
I'm a fan of semi-hollow guitars. I don't care for the red binding though.
I was hoping it was going to be the double neck… pretty sweet guitar nonetheless
Everything is bigger and better in TEXAS, my home state!!!
That's a pretty wide guitar at 22 inches, but I think the Gibson Firebird is little longer. It's like playing a surf board, play some tunes on the beach and then hit some waves after.

Would that be a good guitar for beginners? Also Good for big hands?
Yes!
Very good review and demonstration. Impressive guitar, does this mean that you are going to start playing Rockabilly? Just asking for a friend.
I think I'll stick to the 80s shred.
Very smart looking... well, not smart? Cool Taters...OK not Taters either! But sharp..ok, not like sharp points... but you know what I mean! Thanks Shreddermister 🤘 different guitars make good recording uses! Panned side to side! 👍 😊
So many players don't understand that a good 335 etc semi hollow can shred its ass off...

What kind of amp are you running this thru? Sounds great.
Line 6 POD Farm
it needs the red EMGs lol. i want one now just to do that and play metal on it. i bet it would be great.
always nice to step out of your comfort zone. Ever played a baritone?
Closest I've gotten is a trombone
Sad, I clicked the link to this guitar, and it's already gone from the website.
Actually sounds real good! Just not my style of guitar
Remember, Nimrod Nugent played a HUGE Gibson Byrdland *hollow*
body
Real question please iyv 300 I change pots. Wanna go for pinks?
Great, now I’m having FOMO again. The wife is going to be pii$$ed. Awesome review as always.
Ask Zac has said that he believes different guitars should encourage you to play differently. This definitely seems like a guitar that encourages you to try playing something different!
I think you can give George some credit for your luck here.
Ive never played a hollow body 🎸
Now thats a guitar 🎸 I’ll buy that for a dollar 💵
Is the neck gloss o satin finish?
gloss
What is the neck width at the nut?
Looks to be about 42.5 mm
I just wish they would sell to the canadian market, guitar garden get it together, you are missing out
Hmm, I've never owned any type of hollowbody.......
Not for me !
A lil' fella playing such a huge guitar is definitely a recipe for disaster... It kinda looks like you're playing an upright bass on your lap!!!😜😜😜😜🍕
Angus Young was only 5'2" and his SG looked like a baritone in his hands. I would hardly call AC/DC a disaster, but I'm sure your comment will be remembered and respected by people for years to come.
