Frr I started to take ballet seriously not too long ago and my teacher always says turnout and I just can't for the life of me 😭 its just hard to explain the process
@@BubsPacoit takes a long time to learn what muscles you utilize. It sounds insane but researching just on Google what muscles are involved in turnout is so helpful. And some targeted exercises to strengthen the muscles. You also do use the knees and feet a bit to compensate. It’s in an unspoken truth in the west that the Russians know they know a perfect 5th you have to get of course as much rotation from the hips, the psoas muscle is super important to work on it’s very long and literally wraps around from the lower back to the buttocks and around the sides of the leg to the pelvic area. If it is tight or any of the muscles used are not active (even training them just occasionally to gain awareness of them and trying to have 1% more turn out (with your knees tracking and your feet not rocking in body straight in plies etc. of it’s a bit sore the next day but but not like super painful that’s good! But be careful not to push it too fast it’s a long process to gain the strength and access your full range. Stretching is good too but more focus on strength is better
And they're just diy/sawist/artist like me who are in goblin mode all the time 😂👌 But realy I anjoy the paradox of those two side together in balet so much 🥰
When we take our final bow, we stop fighting the goblin within… at least those of us who don’t live in with a long career do, and you’ll see the tiniest hints of the ballerina popping up through the goblin occasionally. Getting my youngest daughter into watching ballet on RUclips as an adult, we’ll be watching something and I’ll hear "ah!" as she catches something she’s seen her whole life making sense 😂
Yes!😂 Although to be fair this is true in nearly *all forms* of dance, any choreographed sport(like synchronized swimming) & gymnastics/acrobatics. While dancing you have to “switch on” the pose of that style of dance. Similarly in gymnastics you have to maintain how you move…like how similar to ballet in gymnastics is important to almost always point your toes anytime your feet are off the ground/equipment and body posture as a whole is so important it’s actually part of the scoring for competitions. It’s always funny to see esp dancers move with such graceful movement & regal expressions immediately slump & look awkward & shy immediately upon stopping. 😂 - I took gymnastics, ballet & tap from age 4 thru age 20 plus several years of both ballroom/partnered dancing or freestyle/pop dancing. But ballet & gymnastics were the 2 I was most passionate about. Had I grown up somewhere with more opportunity for either I likely would’ve went further with one or both. I miss both *so SO much* as well as running. But at 26 I found out why I so frequently had injuries due to my ankles/knees “buckling” literally from when I took my first steps onward & why my shoulder dislocated easily. Turned out I have fairly severe Ehlers Danlos Syndrome(EDS) & my ankles & knees werent just “buckling” but were actually dislocating & then popping back into place. Same with my wrists & elbows occasionally. Multiple drs have told me that had I not started gymnastics & ballet or *at least* one of them my body would’ve begun to breakdown far earlier. Although both but esp gymnastics are hard on the joints & injuries are common. I picked up swimming & using the gym a lot in college which also helped delay some of the damage. Bc in EDS the collagen is faulty causing it to stretch far further & easier than normal. Since the tendons & ligaments that hold your joints together are almost pure collagen…the joints of people with EDS dislocate & go back into place far easier than normal. *However* that does NOT mean such dislocation dont hurt like many people think! While the tendons & ligaments typically dont tear the inside of the joint as well as all the *other* soft tissues such as muscles, nerves & blood vessels DO get damaged! I’ve been told by multiple drs that had I not began gymnastics & ballet so young to help greatly strengthen the muscles my body uses to help hold my joints in place since my tendons & ligaments can’t…I would’ve been worse off far younger. Of course doing both activities also caused some damage as well. But it was about 2yrs after I stopped all regular practice of both gymnastics & ballet(I continued practicing both despite no longer taking lessons/competing)as well as stopped swimming daily after completing my first duel major than I was diagnosed with EDS after a prolonged shoulder dislocation in my sleep took 8 months of PT to get to stay in place. Now Im 41 & physically disabled…and wish so extremely bad I could still dance!! I’ve always been someone who LOVES physical activity so being physically disabled due to pain as well as issues with my heart/BP sucks so much! Yes Im artistic as well as a musician & have other things I enjoy & Im decent to good at that Im still able to do. But the feeling of running, tumbling in gymnastic & of gliding across the floor in ballet are things I grieve.
This! Also, her partner ends up throwing her just slightly off on the second pass, but watching her foot correct back instead of her falling over is incredible! So much awareness of her movements!
I feel bad because I hear about Tessa being in pain a lot of the time, like I know all dancers who are dancing that many hours en pointe will be in pain but her back pain and stuff has been mentioned quite a few times. I hope she’s ok, especially if she decides to go pro.
I think it’s because she is so hypermobile. It’s is difficult to lock in the position of the foot. Ankle. Hip etc and she is likely having some back and hip pain. Hypertension is so beautiful but also makes the dancer very prone to injury and especially so if it is EDS
@@etvernalwallflower That’s not what Tessa is talking about when she’s saying her back is in too much pain to try out certain poses for Eva’s photography…
@@kballet2001 yeah, as someone who is hyper mobile I had to stop dancing when I was around 10 because it got too painful (and I have a super high pain tolerance, to the point that I didn’t realize that the pain I was experiencing from standing too long was also not normal, but at and past the severity of broken bone pain and just kept on standing past that point for years). I am hyper mobile to the point that throughout the day my joints will just move in and out of place, and I have to do certain things to put them back in place. I know I’m more on the extreme end of things in that regard, but hyper mobility in any amount is painful, and I couldn’t imagine being able to dance with it
I appreciate the “performance “ all the more because all this practice and pain you make it look easy and effortless on stage Ballerinas are wonderful!
The little attitudey pout thing Megan did b4 you got to Maya was so cute. It reminded me of Maria, the sassy girl kitten from the movie Aristocats.lol.
Tessa! I am amazed that you can hold that position! Beautiful! And I like the lip bite when you're starting the second try. Cute! And Tessa's partner (I apologize for not knowing your name. I'm relatively new here.) Your exit is so graceful (as compared to Slawomir's sideway lunge)! 😉 😂 ❤
I thought the same thing for a while but I’m pretty sure that all of them wear nikolays, I think it would be cool to find out what style of nikolays though! Also maya now wears freed, I think it’s because the company that she now dances for wanted her in freed but idk haha
Success relies on both partners being 100%. She can be thrown off balance by too much or too little force into her solo turn. She on the other hand must keep that balance with her whole body engaged! That’s why ‘couples’ exhaustively practice their partnering in any sport where a pas de deux takes center stage when their whole world is watching. 😅
‘Turn out bottom leg’
girl that leg is more turned out than a straight angle 😭😭😭😭 my literal dream 😂

@@kballet2001 thank you
A ballerina has two sides:
1. When performing: Elegant, classy and graceful
2. When not performing: GOBLIN MODE

Bro the guy turning Tessa couldn’t even reach her hand! She’s so tall!😂😂
she was literally standing on her toes.....
@@cats_are_love even when she stands normally she is very tall.
Plus, she has extreeeeamly long arms.
This is why ballerinas can't be TOO tall. A bit more and she couldn't have been one, or at least not one who could dance with a partner.
tessa can keep her leg so straight and so high that this move is super flattering on her.
Tessa's turnout, control and lines are stunning.
This! Also, her partner ends up throwing her just slightly off on the second pass, but watching her foot correct back instead of her falling over is incredible! So much awareness of her movements!
slawomir running away got me cackling 😭
mel clapping for tessa was so sweet usually it's the opposite
Besties for life 😊❤❤

Ballet isn't painful, not in the way of being hurt. The pain is more like how you feel after a workout or a stretch

Beautiful, Tessa!!
More wise tidbits from Slawomir, please. 👍
The fact that it hurts & they keep doing it so gracefully & controlled. I’m just impressed lol
As a short limbed fella, I can admit to being a bit deeply envious of Tessa's long limbs. I bet she can reach anything! 😂😭

“I can try”, does not answer the question of if she’s in too much pain😅
I love how Eva's become the defense coach. ☺️
Maya with her iconic smile 😍😍
Please tell me Tessa is going to a European company! I am so hoping she gets hired by the same company as Maya 💗
Slawomir running for his life😂
