    Wow just seeing this out of the box ruclips.net/user/postUgkxQr1yd4Zc6qJF-scTB6Zb9dQbVpviuRxB recommend I have yet to fish with this set up, but based on the first hands on appeal, I can tell this is going to change the way i pack and carry to a whole new level. If you fish like i do, you know the smaller and less stuff the better. I’ve added a photo of just some of my gear so you can see how serious i am about fishing.

    Thumbs up for the tutorial! I used your "X" layout format but labeled mine a little different to make it easier for my self to follow. I still used the A up/down and B up/down but put the numbers 1-4 next to each one to more easily keep track of where I was going.

    Thank you for a great tutorial wrap video. This will help with my custom rod building hobby that I just started a lot. Again Mahalo George. I just found your channel and subscribed to it immediately. Can't wait for more video's.

    Just wanted to say that your videos are great, I've been watching them for the last 45 minutes now. I just started a outdoors channel and it's nice to see some inspiration for how I could get my channel up and running. Keep up the good work.

    These actually go fairly quick once you get the initial lay out of the first threads on nice and straight, my first one I ever did turned out beautiful, I was a little surprised. I’m going to try something a little more complicated tomorrow. I will say a large magnifying glass on a stand really helped but that may have been because I was using approximately a AA thread size instead of C or D on freshwater rods and I had many more threads and covered up more of my blank. I also used a trim band of gold in my tie off before going into my black in a C or D size for strength because I used gold in my cross wrap. Just remember to pass an alcohol burner quickly down your wrap to singe any fuzz off your thread before epoxy.

    Thanks for the video. Only suggestion is to wrap both ends of diamond but starting inside and moving outward. Once you get started, you can then cut diamond threads, like you did on the grip side, and remove tape and wrap over ends.

    Nicely done George, you covered most all of the aspects, of which I am aware, in one demonstration. I would like to have seen your work after a couple of coats of finish, as I was interested to see if some of the irregularities created by your design work under the end wraps would be mitigated. I also would have liked to have heard a bit more of "up B up and down A up," etc., to get a better feel for directionality and how your "recipe" would have worked if one were to set the project down for a day or so but, all in all, a very well produced and informative demo ----- Thanks.

    • @gandtoutdoors5
      @gandtoutdoors5  9 лет назад

      Lance R. Marcussen Thank you. I actually finished coating this rod last night. I atleast put 2 coats of finish on all of my rods, 3 coats depending on the wrap design. One way to limit 'irregularities' in your finished design, when applying your first coat of finish, I like to run with the design.

    • @lancer.marcussen6417
      @lancer.marcussen6417 9 лет назад

      G aG and T Outdoors George, could you be more specific about "run with the design" to limit irregularities. I'm working on my first rod and despite biting off more than I should have with four colors per line guide and perhaps five colors in the diamond wrap (by the time I get done), things are turning out better than I anticipated. I'd hate to ruin mediocre to decent work thus far with a sub standard finish job. Any input would be appreciated.

    • @gandtoutdoors5
      @gandtoutdoors5  9 лет назад

      Lance R. Marcussen The best way to explain is when I apply my first finish coat, I follow the patter of the design with my brush, how the thread wrap around the blank. Meaning, I follow the threads, that will allow for the thread pattern to stay tight when applying the first finish coat.

    • @lancer.marcussen6417
      @lancer.marcussen6417 9 лет назад +1

      G and T Outdoors Thank you George, I follow what you're saying and it makes perfect sense. I am about finished with my debut build and am quite satisfied with my diamond wrap and olive branches ------ at least not half bad for the first time out. Your forum has been quite helpful, thanks again.

      why are my wraps hard to pack? I'm packing and seems like I'm getting no where, am I doing to lose or tight?

    Love your video on the Diamond Wrap. Do you have a video on how to measure for the initial layout? Where and how to make your marks to begin the design?

    • @gandtoutdoors5
      @gandtoutdoors5  6 лет назад

      There are measurements you can google and find the specs, it’s a lot to explain. Anymore though I just eyeball my wraps. Best of luck

    You didn’t show how you marked and spaced the very beginning of your wrap. Do you have any videos of that?

    • @gandtoutdoors5
      @gandtoutdoors5  Год назад

      Spacing depends on the diameter of the blank. I usually just eyeball it

    • @gandtoutdoors5
      @gandtoutdoors5  2 года назад

      There is a formula to determine spacing in relation to the diameter of the blank, but I just eyeball the spacing

    How far apart do you lay out the center of your diamonds? I did my first one the other day and had a hard time keeping the threads packed. I think i made the layout too far apart.

    • @gandtoutdoors5
      @gandtoutdoors5  3 года назад

      I usually eyeball the spacing. You can use a grease pen and ruler to mark out the center lines, I say 2.5” spacing would work if you do that
