OMG! This looks amazing on you.😍😍😍 Thank you so much for the shout-out. ❤️❤️❤️ I like the idea of transitioning from one style to the other, it removes the stress of parting the hair all over again. Thank you for sharing. 😘😘
The loose twists give a loc look also - but much faster install. My hair looks like locs in almost every loose natural style - I always get the question. Thx for sharing!
Same! I install loose chunky twists in blown out hair that gradually shrinks as the days go on and they look like locs as they age too. Sometimes they unravel but my hair clumps and stays in the half twist and just looks like one chunky loc. I can go on like that for a month or so, and it makes styling so easy bc my hair is already parted and there's no combing.
Especially when they unravel. I've worn these loose braids (mostly) and loose twists (sometimes) for many years. When I wear loose twists, I don't retwist when they unravel. I leave them and they look identical to real locs because they clumped and compacted into "locs" while they were in the loose twists, lol.
For everyone wondering about the takedown. I've got you! I've filmed the process twice now but I'm taking a while to edit and upload it - apologies for that. Provided I don't leave them in for longer than 4 weeks, the takedown is pretty smooth. It takes a while to remove them but there's no locking or meshing and the hair is in a pretty detangled state, even after having been washed up to 3 times. It's honestly the best takedown I've experienced. To do this, I cover my hair with coconut oil well in advance of a takedown session and I use conditioner on top of that. I spread my takedown sessions out across a few days and I'm able to remove the locs with minimal breakage. This is still my favourite style for this reason. Imagine being able to remove a 4-week old style that you've washed up to 3 times (with clay) with minimal breakage!!! This is a revolution. I recommend you do a 'loc' test every so often by attempting to push your finger through some locs. If you struggle, it means your hair is locking. My hair always passed the loc tests. Hope this helps!
Like someone else said, this is a look 4c girls can rock beautifully that I doubt would work as well on looser textures. My hair isn't 4c but I think a lot of black women can relate to feeling like we have "bad hair" b/c we are trying to achieve looks that work best on someone else's texture instead of embracing looks that work best for our own. I hope to see more of what you're doing here!

Eniye Mission plaits are not the easiest to remove in general but what I’ve noticed so far is that they don’t get enmeshed in the same way that twists do when cleansed. I’ve done a clay wash and I immediately squeezed out as much water as possible before coating my hair in whipped Shea butter and stretching it in several plaits until bone dry. I did a removal test and the plaits came out as easily as they would without having been washed. Also, there’s a simple way to test if your hair’s locked: just try to stick your finger through the plait. Does it go through easily? Then it’s not locked. Absolutely! I'm experimenting right now with cleansing and I aim to share this once I've figured out a solid routine. In the interim, Lilian has great content on her loc maintenance.
I really have to think about trying this. I like the look but, would worry about if my hair would actually lock up. Might have to do some tests twists and see how I feel.
Shiny Nachos maybe you could do one or two the next time you twist your hair as a test. Lilian has a technique for testing whether your strands have actually loc’d: stick your finger through the plaits. If it goes through, you’re all clear. I’ve actually done a clay wash on these and they seem just as easy to remove as before washing. Let me know if you try them!
Thank you so much for this. I’ve been thinking about doing dreadlocks because of my spirituality along with it being apart of my culture but I didn’t want to jump into it just yet. This is great to see what my hair would look like with locs and I’ll definitely try it next wash day. Thank you
These look amazing and I am thinking of trying these out. wont look as nice with shorter hair, but i love the concept! Im watching *dead to me *working mum and a fe things I dont even know the name of, but binged watched a series in a day!
This is soo unique to try with 4c hair! I remember watching Lillian’s vid on that, & thought it was soo clever. Too bad I have mainly 4b hair, so it wouldn’t look the same if I attempted it.
Love the video and the background sounds. It’s is calming and just nature in its purest. I do not think I will try that style since my hair is fine and imagining the possible tangle I will get makes me cringe
For the sake of time and preferred texture, 2 rows around the perimeter of my hair, I braid a half inch and two-strand twist the remaining. The rest are two-strand twists from the root. I do this every two weeks to keep from locking! Whenever I style my hair, I am always thinking of how long will it take me to undo what I have done and any type of braid from the root to the end, that’s too much time away from my other projects! 🙅🏽♀️🙅🏽♀️🙅🏽♀️
Wowwww😍‼️I’m over here thinking I creating this temporary locs hack bc I tightly twists my roots then loosely twist along the length of my hair and then twist is little tighter at the ends😂 I feel like the braids would be too much for me bc I usually leave these for a while and my hair is pretty long.
I love the look of this and will try but OMG I hate plaiting my hair 😩😩😩😩. I don’t even have a lot of hair, it’s fine and not dense but plaiting is so tedious.
OMG! I was expecting to watch and not be able to do this, but it is so simple and great result! It's exactly what I have been looking for! How often do I need to take them out and redo them?
Besides the braiding, how is this different from your mini 2 strand twists? What's the point? The temp locs actually seem more stressful to the hair. I love your 4 big flat twists and how they looked when you opened them. I also like the in between twists.
Hello, I recently found you on RUclips. I'm in my early 60s and I'm not really savvy on Instagram. Would you please do a RUclips tutorial of the temporary locs?
Ahh, listen to those birds man literal music to my ears!!! But I came just to see how long your hair is now, (it's been a while). Re: whether I'd ever try temporary locs, I never found normal locs appealing, but this temporary thing could grow on me.
It depends a lot on: whether you moisturize your hair often, do things like scalp massages while in the style, and whether you started on stretched hair. It should last *at least* a week or two with minimal manipulation, starting a stretched state with just the occasional misting and sealing every few days. But just like the in-between twists, the longer you go, the more patient you have to be with the detangling process, since frizz (and hopefully remoisturizing) are inevitable
Yeah @lavidavi, by stretched I mostly meant a gentle stretch like a combed out braid out/dry twist out. Not like a blow out. My reasoning was that hair tangles and shrinking up on itself are a fast track to permanent locks.
Your videos are always informative and straight to the point, I love that about you lol I actually love the “temporary locs” style it’s bohemian yet chic. It looks really great on you too 😍 ...not sure how this will turn out on my hair because it’s fine, so the locs probably won’t be as thick or chunky as yours 😞but this style definitely suits you, well done ☺️
When I heard about temporary locs I tried to do it with my 4c. But I did it wrong: I did not straightened my hair before, and I did it to tight. The result is that two weeks after and because I watched it one time in between, my hair is so matted that it has been 2 days Iam trying to detlange it very carefully. :( now I know what have I done wrong...
k silvia oh noooo! What a nightmare! I’m so sorry that that happened to you. I think it is possible to wash them but you have to use a mild cleanser and really stretch them as soon as you’re done so they don’t knot up. I’m familiar with how dreadful it can be to have a protective style enmesh like that. Sending you resilience and positive energy. Will you try the style again? I’ll let you know how my takedown process goes and what my washing technique is. Follow me on Instagram for more regular updates.
@@NaturallyHigh thank you very much for your support. I already follow you on Instagram! I am going to follow your takedown technique and see what more can I improve and maybe then I'll try it again... But only once I forget this nightmare 😅 for instance I am suffering too much 😂

I saw this some years ago done by Cipriana and tk wonder, the twins. They always have their hair like this. You can check them out on Instagram. I currently have in loose twist so will definitely transition into doing the loose braid. Thanks for sharing
I think my hair is too fine and fragile for this style. It would frizz and matte up within days and I'd have serious breakage with the take down. Would've loved to try it though. Currently watching Anne with an E btw 😊
brownsugarbabe0823 oh okay - you know your hair best! One thing you could try is to do one or two discrete ones the next time you style your hair. You could then assess how they evolve over time.
brownsugarbabe0823 I have fine hair and I also have locs. Your assessment is likely correct. Especially since with this technique the root is twisted tight. You’ll run the risk of locking at the root and damage trying to get it out. You could try the reverse though. Loose root tighter end. It wouldn’t look the same but maybe could work better.
I do not recommend going over 4 weeks. Removal is not difficult but it takes me a while. It doesn't take any longer than removing my twists and it has some benefits: less breakage, hair is already clean.
I was contemolaying loose twists and saw this! How was the takedown? Can you explain your process please? How long did you keep them in? Thinking if doing them TODAY!
Hey! Hope this helps!
Yes! Check out my wash day video featuring my temporary locs as well as the moisturising and takedown videos. The longest I’ve kept them in is 5+ weeks.
How many locs did you end up having by the time you were done? Those look great with your texture. I’m not sure if my hair could pull that off. It’s such a beautiful style. I might try to do it next weekend.
Naturally High I tried it on a few parts of my hair and it looked so cool, but I wouldn’t be able to get it wet and let it dry it would tangle some type of bad. ☹️. The front part of my hair is 3b/c and the back part is 4/a. The 4a part would do great, but I tend to have a much harder time with the front part of my hair when it comes to tangles. I would probably have to add a little fake hair to keep my hair from getting knots.
lomie tapela I’m planning on wearing them for a month and washing them twice in total. I’ve already washed them and they aren’t enmeshed. I did a clay wash and was sure to squeeze out as much water as possible, cover my hair with whipped Shea butter and stretch it in several plaits until it was bone dry. This is only my second time wearing them so I don’t feel comfortable sharing this routine yet, but I’ll wear them again and share all I know!
@@NaturallyHigh thank you for replying, i have susbscribed to her, will watch her videos a few times, yours too... i plan to try this style this weekend
@@NaturallyHigh update... i couldnt wait till the weekend, i braided my hair in this style last night, and I am in love! I cant stop staring at myself, making faces in the mirror like i used to while playing dress up as a child. They look beautiful and I feel beautiful! If the maintenance, take down and detangling is hassle free THIS is my new signature look. Thank you for sharing and introducing me to Lilian's channel
I would love to do this but I don't understand how you did it at the root. Is it a tight 3 strand twists at the root and a loose one at the length and the ends?
Is it added hair or a different method of twisting them? My hair locs for no reason. Give me 2 weeks of washing my twists without setting them loose..... locs! Will take me days to comb them loose because finger detangling won't work.
It’s neither. Please watch the technique. Mine does that too, especially if I use a regular shampoo but when I use clay, it’s fine. I’m also really serious about stretching and moisturising my hair afterwards, which seems to make a huge difference. I have a tutorial on washing my temporary locs and another video showing the takedown. I recommend you watch those before trying the style.

Stephanie Khaguli ahh! So I have a good friend who’s obsessed with Rupaul’s Drag Race. I was at her house for a while and experienced quite a bit of it. I didn’t get into it but I have an appreciation for it. I did watch “How to sell drugs online fast”. For me, compared with other German series (e.g. Dogs of Berlin and Freud), it was relatively easy to understand what was being said. I’ve not watched Midnight Gospel. If you’re looking for a new German series to watch, I recommend Dogs of Berlin. You won’t understand everything (if you’re like me) but you’ll definitely know what’s going on.

and a fe things I dont even know the name of, but binged watched a series in a day!
Mistress Of None I’ve seen them look super cute on short hair as well. Check out Lilian’s highlights.
And thanks for sharing those series!
This is soo unique to try with 4c hair! I remember watching Lillian’s vid on that, & thought it was soo clever. Too bad I have mainly 4b hair, so it wouldn’t look the same if I attempted it.
I absolutely love this! I tried this on my hair although we have different textures I love the overall look!
I am going to give it a try tomorrow! Thank you for sharing.
Hammer Time wow! Yay! Please tag me on Instagram!
Love the video and the background sounds. It’s is calming and just nature in its purest. I do not think I will try that style since my hair is fine and imagining the possible tangle I will get makes me cringe
They look gorgeous! I too am in the fine, thin, high porosity family
This would tangle and break my hair in a heartbeat 😫
You are blessed. Great job!
I feel you! It takes more effort but there are lots of benefits - I’ll talk about them in my next video.
Naturally High Cool! I look forward to that video.
How easy is it to remove after style has been in for a while.
I’m doing this ASAP. Game changer.
How did it go?
Ahh, listen to those birds man literal music to my ears!!! But I came just to see how long your hair is now, (it's been a while). Re: whether I'd ever try temporary locs, I never found normal locs appealing, but this temporary thing could grow on me.
yass this is absolutely gorgoeous!!
Question how long can you wear this style for before it start locking permanently?
I kept mine for three months. Moisturized and stretched in braidouts.
Have you ever tried the maximum hydration method?
Wow.. this is amazing I'm totally trying it out thank you.
Amazing hair. Why didn't I think of this. Could you do a video on styling these temp locs.
lilyrara yes, absolutely. I’ve been trying out different styles - you can see them on my Instagram. I’m happy to share the technique. 😘
I'm confused you just braided your hair ? How do you form the loc
the style is loose plaits - they look like locs.
Love your hair! 💕
You’re temporary locks look very beautiful 💕
These are fantastic. Whats the take down process like?
Easy peasy!
OMG! Looks fabulous. I may just give it a try, lovely lady!!😘
Sera2544 please make a video if you do!🥰🥰🥰🥰
Wow never seen this before looks just like locs 🌱
Definitely doing this next ❤️❤️❤️
They look great!!
I tried this style but the braiding pattern is really evident. They just look like loose puffy plaits rather than locs.
Oh okay - sorry to hear you didn't get the loc look.
Your videos are always informative and straight to the point, I love that about you lol I actually love the “temporary locs” style it’s bohemian yet chic. It looks really great on you too 😍 ...not sure how this will turn out on my hair because it’s fine, so the locs probably won’t be as thick or chunky as yours 😞but this style definitely suits you, well done ☺️
i actually already do this, but twisting not braiding
But only once I forget this nightmare 😅 for instance I am suffering too much 😂
This is beautiful how do you take them out ? Or do maintenance on the style ? I would like to try this
Thanks! I have videos on each of these topics. Check them out!
I haven't seen you in AGES!! How have you been? (Have you been holding up alright in this quarantine time?!) Its so good to see you again! I just wish the video was longer! The temporary locs looks great on you! I don't have an instagram(never wanted one.lol) but its nice to see you are alive and well! Stay safe!
Jaliane Guiste hey love! Yes, it’s been a while but I’m back. I’m dedicating more time to creating online content (Instagram too) and I’m stranded in Trinidad.
I’ve starred a Patreon community and I’ll be treating my patrons to monthly zoom calls, in case you’re interested. www.patreon.com/join/naturally_high?
Watch other RUclipsrs follow this trend as well lol. Thanks for the video sis. Our hair is soooo precious & beautiful as well as bc we have woolly hair like the creator & his son 👏🏽👏🏽🙏🏾 Will definitely try this.
Looks like a method to start permanent ones!
Yes this is exactly what Trinidad sounds like after dark lmaooo
I enjoyed this video. thumbs up. I Love this, as a style. I shall be trying this for sure. If i a not listening to something, I catch up on viewing entertainment. I like your idea of watching something in another language - gonna try that as well. thank you. Kind regards.
Your hair is beautiful! What do you use to get your hair long? I find that my hair stops growing at a certain length:(
Hey love ❤️ shoot me a DM on IG. Let’s get to the bottom of this. instagram.com/Naturallyhigh__
i might try this next time i style my hair!
Great! Please let me know if you do!
I have been obsessed with your vids for the last few years. However i wish to inform you that I am quitting. Lol. Sisterlocks appointment is next week. Welcome back to the dreadlock rasta. Aint nobody got time for this. Thank you for the great content!
Don't do it you're going to regret it! I did it and after 9mths I cut them off the lint I couldn't deal with.. But good luck to you anyway.
Anna Thomas good luck on your loc journey!
How are you finding your sister locks so far? Thanks for sharing this part of your journey with us. 💛✨
beautiful style! You should film the take down also
Can Pry absolutely
Ive never tried it before but im about to...
Great video! Very interesting. Would love for you to do a life update too!

How long can u keep the temporary locs
Oh beautiful hairstyle ! 😍 How long do you wear your temporary locs?
KnL9713 around a month with two clay cleanses.
Hi thanks for the tutorial. How long do you keep these in and how do you take these down?
I do not recommend going over 4 weeks. Removal is not difficult but it takes me a while. It doesn't take any longer than removing my twists and it has some benefits: less breakage, hair is already clean.
I would love to give a try eventually thank you for the inspiration ❤️🌸
right. i'm going to try these as well.
These are Lovely😍, but are they easily removable
Thanks, Sis! Watch my takedown video.
I was contemolaying loose twists and saw this! How was the takedown? Can you explain your process please? How long did you keep them in? Thinking if doing them TODAY!
Hey!
I recommend you do a 'loc' test every so often by attempting to push your finger through some locs. If you struggle, it means your hair is locking. My hair always passed the loc tests. Hope this helps!
You just got a new sub, much love
Welcome!!!!! 🥰🥰🥰😘
Wow I so trying this out😍😍😍
Muchas gracias ❤
I don't get it. I just saw you doing things plaits twisted at the ends.
Genius🤯 😍
Can you condition your hair while in temporal locs and how long can you leave them on?
Yes! Check out my wash day video featuring my temporary locs as well as the moisturising and takedown videos. The longest I’ve kept them in is 5+ weeks.
This came out nicely. How long did you keep them in?
I’ve still got them in and my hair’s not locked.
How many locs did you end up having by the time you were done? Those look great with your texture. I’m not sure if my hair could pull that off. It’s such a beautiful style. I might try to do it next weekend.
Lady LaTre'viette Phantumhive 43, I believe. Thank you. Let me know how it goes!
This is absolutely beautiful, how long do you keep them in for, how do you maintain them and how long is take down? Can you tell I want to try this?
lomie tapela I’m planning on wearing them for a month and washing them twice in total.
Check out Lilian’s maintenance videos.
It's just a plait (braid) that's tight at the root.
🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️Netflix shows:🤸🏾♀️🤸🏾♀️
-Rupaul's drag race is a weekly ritual at this point
-Midnight Gospel is a new fave because I've had so many similar long conversations about everything and anything.
-Tried watching the German shows "Dark" and "How to sell drug$ online(fast)" to improve my listening comprehension but I can't pay that kind of attention while doing my hair yet🤷🏾♀️
Nice! Once you get invested into RPDR it's over. I cannot stop. My mum is sceptical but slowly converting...
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm definitely checking out Dogs of Berlin now!😁
How long can you keep them?
I don’t understand why we’re calling these temporary locs. Isn’t this just two strand twist?
Amazing! Thank you!
I have been asking myself to do this or nauh...but bruh...I'm definitely going to do this. I'm just hoping it doesnt actually loc on me 😂
Love this!
Please does it looks like doing box braids? Cause am following what you are doing but buy all I can see is box braids?
They are loose plaits.
