is this tanking? my tiler told me to tank the bath wall before tiling, and on the materials list he wrote 1 litre of primer. now is primer not different from the tanking paint you get? i mean primer serves another purpose but ive not seen it as a waterproofer for behind a bath shower wall of tiles......
We used to primer (that had grit in it) which dried a bit like acrylic paint. The grit offers extra the adhesive extra grip. We then applied 2 coats of blue waterproofing/tanking for shower bases, which was like very thick cream. Perhaps the grit primer is better over the waterproofer/tanking. The grit didn't pierce through tanking and the surface was still rough enough for adhesive to grip. Luckily we're only tiling around our bath that's for occasional use and not a shower. Fingers crossed it's all sealed. Also be careful if you're using porcelain tiles, they recommend using a good primer, that's why we used the gritted acrylic stuff. Hopefully we've done the right thing!
i dont understand these vids ive been watching on decorating , now yourself? We dont really wanna see you priming the wall or painting the wall.
Im not upset or having a go, but dont you think its better explaining some tips and tricks , mixing, how many coats, should you tile when primer is tacky? can you get away with dilute pva? Or can you saturate floor etc with water? To clear up dust and stop adhesive drying too fast? Manty tilers ive spoke to, say that no need to prime, before tiling. Also the dry wall lads say the same. Unlike plasterers where pva is a must. Dry liners have put the hold on me pva'n. Saying no need? I dunno? I m not a scientist.lol
When your using dunlop rapid set...don't blink ...it will go off lol
