On the sound quality it was all independent and in the early 90s so theyd have to record one layer of the beat then record that again in to another tape over and over with no equalization so it gets distorted and its old equipment too
To think back I was 13 in 93. Grew up listening to this. They WERE THE FIRST GROUP WHO SAMPLED THEIR OWN VOICES IN A HOOK! DJ Paul and Juicy J, Rza, KLC and Craig B, etc. The sound up to the 90s will never happen again because they had IN HOUSE producers. Everybody sounded different. MC Eiht made his own beats with their in house track maker too. Pete Rock. Alchemist and Mobb Deep. Organized Noise. I hate rap and hip hop today. Cant even tell where people are from. Thats what was special back then. Mannie Fresh and Tribe Called Quest was on different meteors but fell just as hard.
This is a Lil Glock & S.O.G. (Sawed Off Gangsta) track produced by Juicy J. This came off of one of Juice's early cassette tapes that's why the quality is low. Pretty sure one of those dudes is in prison and the other is dead but I can't remember. If you want to hear a bit different side of the Memphis sound you really need to check out Playa Fly "Nobody Needs Nobody" ft Gangsta Blac. Both were part of Triple 6 early on.
@@brettanomyces7077 yes sir u know whats up. My favorite from Number One Suspect was Gangsta Shit. He said “ and flippin’em Vietnam style i dont play, shootin on troops like a Green beret”
@@DTXGoody Ya I got a bunch of his early stuff on vinyl. Also OTS records stuff the first label of 8ball & MJG, GP recorded there, Al Kapone, all the guys from the first wave of Memphis rappers.
