The idea of ‘loka’ in the Veda-s and the Puraṇa-s is often translated to English as ‘planet’. This translation gives an apparent impression that the different loka-s might refer to various planets or galaxies in this physical universe. However, such an understanding of the Sanskrit word loka is very far from its true sense. Loka ultimately refers to a level or degree of subjective awareness or consciousness. A person cannot reach a higher or lower loka just by taking a flight on a spacecraft to that loka. A loka only becomes accessible to a person when he has achieved the necessary qualification by evolving or degrading his consciousness. This video discusses why translating ‘loka’ as ‘planet’ is highly misleading.

If lok is not a place-
    >How Vishwamitra created another Swarga lok?
    >Where Arjuna went to to get divine weapons.
    >Where sage Vashistha used to go to meet Deva?
Lok is a place for people of certain consciousness.
You need to be more serious to not spread falsehood of Dharma, though having good intentions

its a place but with the physics of it being very different...so it cannot be called a planet in the strict sense.

My thoughts exactly. In Gita, Lord Krishna also talks about Lokas. Example is Swarkaloka. When you have exhausted your karma punyphalans, you are back here, back to square one . Loka is ALSO a place of certain consciousness. Anyhow, to the realised one, the whole universe is Mithya. Relative reality only.

When puranas mention demons attacking svargaloka what do they mean. Do they elevate their consciousness. If so then why do they still attack even after elevating their consciousness

Log in Slovenian means "forest" ("Logging") or better said a place in forest, which is close to water... it was also called as "Gai" (Gaya). Log Svaroga = Svargaloka; Svarog is a god in Svarga (in slavic)...It was representing a place in the starry sky...

    So 2 thing is here
1.Loka represent a level of consciousness
2.Loka may be something physical place..
    My query is,
When we say Indra in swarg, then where is that swarg where indra lives?

  • @manju4ever222

Loka could be physical or a state of existence. We can't just say this is the only truth or reality because some text says so. When we keep our mind open, a lot of unknonws shall be known.

Every word in Samskritam has an average of 14 meanings. There is a elaborate text called "Nirukta" to make understand each word contextually. If you limit the meaning of each word to one meaning as per our convenience, we lose vast amount of hidden knowledge... you are repeating the same mistake as others committed...
In this example, loka has meanings such as 1. Mankind, 2. Human race, 3. Perception, 4. To look at, 5. Region, 6. Place, 7. Space, 8. Country, 9. Company, 10. Community, 11. Folk, 12. Faculty of seeing, 13. Free motion, 14. Country, 15. Tract ....

I admire your attempt to explain this but I don't find it complete.
How do you explain Arjuna travelling to Swargaloka in his bhuloka body?
How do you explain Ravana usurping Indra from Swargaloka?
They held bodies from this loka but were able to travel to other lokas and live there. Raja Yayati lived in the NandanVan of Swargaloka for a thousand years. We have all these references in our literature of people going from one loka to another, in their given form but we still don't understand what **loka** means.
I am not saying that I have the explanation but this video will be cited all over twitter and facebook, and we will be ridiculed for inconsistency with our own literature. Please consider my advice with a pinch of salt. I only have high regards for your efforts.
May be, we could ask one of the Shankaracharyas or a Vrindavan saint to clarify this.

A Loka is a realm wherein embodied entities inhabit - like we human beings do in Bhoo Upa-loka, one of the 14 perishable Upa-lokas. 14 Upa-Lokas are like 14 petals of a major Loka called Kshara Loka. Kshara means perishable or non-eternal. Kshara Loka is pervaded and governed by a level of consciousness of kshara Purusha. Gita speaks of three Purushas, Kshara Purusha, Akshara Purusha and the most divine called Purushottama or Purushottama.
Each Upa-loka or a major Loka [Kshara, Akshara and Aksharateeta] pervades the subjective and objectively experienced world by all creatures habiting that minor loka or one of the three named Lokas. The creatures [like we humans of Bhoo upa-loka] are able to experience the surroundings due the consciousness that is common to their own respective objective or subjective aspects. All Upa-lokas or Lokas have their respctive, uniqueness, like elctromagnetic frequency ranges. Therefore creatures of a particular Loka/upa-loka can not experience other Loka/upa-loka.
Rajiv Malhotra and the Swamiji could have specified that a Loka is a realm relevant to its own unique consciousness [frequancy range.

It is a physical location and the word location comes from loka. The vedas speak of path ways to the upper and lower lokas. Also the upper lokas are guarded but the lower lokas are not guarded. Also the upside down earth is a western concept not a vedic one.

theres is the sanskrit verb - avalokayati. Which means to see or look at.
    Dhatu - ( ava - lok )
From this comes the word loka. That which can be looked at. It can be any of the 14 planetary systems. They are projected from the consciousness of various types of living beings. Since they live in their own collective projected dream like virtual reality created by maya, the world they experience is called loka.

How do you deal with individuals that purposefully want to lower your loka, but they're your family and close friends?

    • @bcfu8146
      @bcfu8146 3 года назад

By distancing yourself from such people whenever feasible and and not letting yourself consumed into situations that lead to the lowering of your loka. Live in present, and that's the conscious mind (the creative mind) and train your subconscious (the tape) mind to stop playing the tape-recorder when you land into foul situations.
      That's my experience. HTH.

We actually don't know if Loka is an actual place beyond in some distant galaxy or beyond black holes.
If so we don't have the technology to reach there during our small life time of 100 years and it would take some worm hole(consciousness) to reach there.

Both have very confused mentality and understanding of Loka. whether lokas are existing as our consciousness level or in fact as a place isn't cleared by them. But actually loka can exist as the level of our Lifestyle with different kind of manners disciplines and morals we are living in practical life.
