This is insane! Those tracks are soooo much rougher than todays tracks. And look how narrow many of the sections or most of the track. And most were still not wearing full face helmets.
Damm. Keith bowen crashed hard. And Rick Johnson sure was fast. David bailey look fast too. The top 4 were going fast Rick Johnson Jeff ward David bailey Brock Glover This was a good race
I'm exhausted just from watching this race. That track was absolutely brutal. Gary Bailey must've secretly hated the riders. 🤣 It's amazing how flimsy those old bikes were. You could practically see the frames flexing from the pounding these guys put them through. These days, you don't see riders fight for their positions nearly as much as these guys. Bailey straight-up parked Ward.
All hail The Nashville Network (TNN) for letting me watch Ricky Johnson and my man Jeff Ward kick ass on the dirt back in the 80's and 90's! ;} (*I have no idea how we got TNN where I lived in Pioneer, CA... the cable company wouldn't even let us have MTV! :D ) Edit: I don't ever recall hearing about David Bailey back in the 80's and 90's (I was young, forgive me), but after watching some classic supercross/motocross videos tonight Bailey is a bad dude... imo Bailey had more skill than both Johnson and Ward, dude was smooth but fast (which is why I liked Ward). Johnson was skilled and had fire, but imo a bit of an asshole, kinda like the Earnhardt of moto/supercross.
If Ron Lechien had used the same line Glover used even after being passed repeatedly, there would be comments about him being stoned. Great track, better than Anaheim.
@@robertrishel3685 . I remember watching that race. Hell of a main event. I wish either Keith bowen or Larry brooks or tyson vohland or ERIC kehoe or micky diamond would of won. O well. All good. Still a great race
When i went to my first motocross race i was new so i was watching the start line what the heck are these guys doing i laughed a bunch of landscape contractors are u serious but after a few races i started doing a little myself i just do behind the gate....at my track some guys would gi pack 50 feet out in the pros u just are allowed to fix dirt behind the gate thats all i ever did....i would get over tje gate first thats the important of tje start...over the gate first such a big advantage to start with
Rick Johnson interviews go like this "everybody is bad at racing but me and I'm the best, and if I don't win it's because of idiots on the track." great rider, sucky mouth.
LMAO, Johnson always had a slick way of sounding like an asshole, probably subconsciously (I was young) why I didn't like him and rooted for "The Flying Freckle" Ward. ;}
80's WERE AWESOME. I REMEMBER RICKY JOHNSON. OAKLEY RAZORS & BAD-BOY CLUB STICKERS. MAN,,, THOSE WERE THE DAYS !! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 WHAT A LEGEND !!👍🏻🤓🙏🏼
I was there in 1987 for the mudfest👍 used to go to bike week whenever possible. Great race, thanks for sharing.

Thanks IntrepidVids. My dad also recorded this race and I've been wanting to see this again for a LONG time!
The little professor is silky smooth even on this track he makes it look easy.
Awesome race..

Rick Johnson
Jeff ward
David bailey

This was a good race
Just came here from watching the 2020 Dayton, the difference in bikes is amazing! these look like a bear to ride! Got to love the old two strokes
DAYTON!
Hey I️ have a 1986 CR250R and 1986 Honda Reflex! 😝
You ain't mixin gas, you ain't hauling ass.
It'd nice if they did this today.

2 Strokes Rule
@8:27 the very first whip in supercross!!
Unless it was Guy Cooper, they were all by accident back then. :)
10:55 pulling tear-offs while railing a berm. No biggie.
Hey, I was just wondering if you have the 1987 Daytona Supercross race that Rick Ryan won. That would be awesome if you could post that race.
It'd be nice for Rick ryan but that race was mud-bog.
I’d love to see a video of that race as well, I was there in person watching that one. Unforgettable!

I have tried to find a that race for Years. It's like a conspiracy to keep it off RUclips 🤔. Please
they had a back row on the starting gate, it looked like
Why is it that in 13 years I can't find the Ricky Ryan win in 1987? 🤔😳
Hanna would have stole that race from Ricky if he raced. 😁
a 40 rider race.
did we ever find out why broc rode to right in that whoop section???? lol!!!
9:14 I bet he wishes he had a full face helmet on instead of that open face helmet he was wearing. Lol
I would give anything to go back for a weekend in the 80s. So I can buy a brand new Honda 250R three-wheeler.
Of all the things to go back to the 80s for thats the one thing you picked?
@@El_Rubbertoe For real... heard 3-wheelers were fun but dangerous, why quads caught on. :l
8.30 scrub....

Rick johnson could'nt hold a candle to the hurricaine ( bob hannah )
always hated larry mairers commentating
