Thanks for watching!
Man you make this look so easy. It fills me with confidence, then I have a go and remember how bloody difficult it is.
Definable having a go at this with the bricks I've just knocked down from my wall. I'll be filling it in with indian stone.
Good job 👏
Maybe I’m overly critical but I think the older, two brick high metal vents (shown here) are better looking than the contemporary red plastic ones. Beautiful work as always! 👍👍👍
simple but very effective mate! i always put polystyrene between existing and new steps if filling up with concrete just to keep any damp cold transferal to a minimum.
Good job.... some thing to add you can save energy and volume of concrete if u fill it with bricks instead of this much concrete and at last few inches of concrete is sufficient before last brick laying on the top...
I love your work Stu, very well done. Your accent is killing too, nice..
SUPER JOB . STU, take care and stay well
Hi Stu just wanted say how much I enjoy your videos very inspirational and it shows how focused you are if just a few had this devotion to there work, great stuff will be watching a bit more, keep it up mate.
Cheers buddy
Fantastic video stu.keep up the great work pal 😁👍
Stu I spent a summer after three years in the army being a hod carrier. Love watching you work!
What is a hod carrier?
@@thejman8734 the guy that mixes and moves the mortar, stacks the bricks, sets up the scaffolding, and pushes the broom.
Great video stu. Really like the smaller videos projects you do like this step. Especially when you use reclaimed or leftover materials. The driveway you did was good too. Keep them coming👍
I agree 100 %
Congratulations felicidades eres muy bueno
Also just wanted say love the music.
Looks a boss job that mate well in !
thanks, Im going to do bricks like that for garden edging.
While I love these videos, I have 2 concerns.
1. Is it ok to cover 1/2 an air brick.
2. Concerned that if the step is level 5he house is wonky. Look at the air brick holes.
Ref 1: Not really. You are supposed to leave at least 75mm from ground to air brick (assuming wooden suspended floor). That’s typically one brick height. So not good practice really.
Loved it 👌

Das hast du sehr schön gemacht. Herzlichen Dank für deine Arbeit! Gruß aus Berlin/Germany
Parabéns , ficou jóia, Brasil, um abração.
The off-centre door position (and therefore the off-centre step) would annoy the shit out of me every time I saw it. ;) Apart from that, nice job. :)
Sen öylesin dostum.eline çok yakışıyor.sanatını takdir edıyorum..
İzlemene minnettarım
you are awesome
I was already missing you, friend!
My brother how are you wery good the work i from tadjikisan
It looks fabulous!! Well jel
Hi Stu. Only use half that amount of mortar mix in that. That stuffs really strong. Love your videos 👍🏼
Смотрю ваши видео просто супер, удачи, будь здоров.
Looks nice but what about the air bricks? They are covered and water can run in them.
I like the cabro laid on wet concrete. Its durable and hard to vandalize.
Lovely little project Stu
Im egyptian..... I love gop uk.... Thanks brother
Looks great Stu 👍
“Just like furry liquid” I love northerners haha
Lovely job mate
So nice work
In my labouring days if the mixer looked like that I'd get shot
Beautiful job!
Could you show your technique for mortaring the soldier before laying please? I am struggling with that currently. Love your videos. Brilliant! Thank you
Isnt it borin? Looks hella borin this job
Nice!
Excellent mate
What will happen to the ventilation bricks ? Will water sip through ? Should you block everything ?
Enjoyed that stu,, Thanks🏴👍
Me encantan tus vídeos eres un maestro . Un saludo desde españa
Congratulations, you are the best!
Another great job. Your kind of like me. I work alone to get it done right 👍
Looks awesome! When building against an existing wall, is there any consideration for the existing DPC? Should you use a barrier between old/new or does it not matter? Presume that because half the vents are still uncovered that’s ok too? Cheers 👍👍
you did it well, I assume that the owner wanted it, but it would be better and more practical in this case a simple step from wall to wall;)
All right that stu. Decent job again👍.
Would of looked better if I could of pointed it 👍
Мр Кромптон је врло позитивна личност.Натераће и највећу ленштину да нешто уради!
Lovely job, steps are usually a good way of getting rid of bits of broken slabs/bricks to save on the amount of concrete!
sound that lad, like the step and finish of it ye done well are kid
شكرا لك انته مبدع وفنان
Me, I would have done a half round from wall to wall. It would have given a larger step, a place for a plant or two.
beautiful brick work, this is the way should be done, back in states, I see they shovel lots of garbage dirt or rock to fill the void inside bricks. learn something today, the concrete you pull inside the brick, is there a specific cement sand and aggregate ratio ? thanks
weep vents
@@Stucrompton1 thanks for the name, this weep vent I don't see it installed in the United States, at least not in my area(New York), is it necessary, or it depends on the region ?
@@stevengao8345 We used them to avoid water freezing inside bricks and mortar so they dont crack or blowout, each country has their own way to drain structures
Have really missed your videos
Nice one
That one dark brick should be on the back side..Other than that I love it.
Hola saludo desde puerto rico
Sehr gut
That syringe though
How the fuck does he keep them uprights so straight n level
Tudo lindo!
If you didn’t want wedged joints how would you go about marking and cutting them for an even joint
Gracias por compartir tus trabajo con nosotros,
Y tu tiempo de tomar el video
Que Dios te bendiga
Lovely job....is it ok to cover part of the air bricks
no-create possible damp
Sen mukemmel bi adamsınnn.😊
kimse mükemmel değildir :)
Great job
No entiendo lo que dices, pero excelente trabajo 👍🏻
🤞
Well done, nice job sir. With regards to the air bricks, I see you have covered them over half of the way up, is this ok to do so and within your experience does the surface water not run back in through the air bricks and into the cavity? I'm asking as I have a similar situation.
Its unlikely that a house of this type has a modern cavity wall construction. The vent is to allow air into the void under the floor. Rainwater should run away from the house if the step has a slight fall on it.
In modern houses, the wall cavity is sealed so that air passes through the vent into the underfloor void without entering the wall cavity.
I agree. Heavy rainfall and wind in the wrong direction and there's going to be a small pond in the floor void.
I wished I seen this video before I did my step. It turned out really bad but now I will try again. Nice video Stu. 👍
Your last step video was good this one even better. Feel I bit inspired to pick my trowel back up when I watch your videos lol!! 😂 well done by the way
Not sure about blocking up those airbricks and though water should run away from the house, some will go through the airbricks now that they are level with the step.
My concerns also. Not likely to actually cause any issues provided there's sufficient ventilation, but certainly something to be aware of.
Last time I made my cement like that I thought it was the best cement I ever had but went to went off I just went crumbling
Feb is key, you need good quality feb
@@LegionUK bricklayin looks borin

good morning stu ... as always nice work👍 nice weekend 😁
You going to perfection respect
Definitely from wigan aren’t you?
sucesso parabens
How do you work out how many bags of sand cement how many bricks Ect you are the man door width
whats the difference between a solider course and a brick on edge course or is it the same thing ?
Soldiers are upright brick on edge is laid down
stu crompton thanks for the reply mate cheers
Бетономешалка супер
Nice work Stu! What would the advantage/disadvantage be of using sand as a fill, them top it with mortar and pavers?
Cracking job mate but why didn't you build the inside of the step up with some hardcore first instead of mixing all that compo for fill, save a lot of time mixing
Excellent music at 11 minutes!
aww man you should have shaved some off each course of the tile so that last tile piece was bigger.
What are these wires you used?
👍👍👏👏
Good work
Nice, this is coming from left field, but how do you feel about a course of tiny brick homes 500 squarely or less?
I can’t see from my house lol
Joke
Who put the cut brick in the arch above the door, you or your Dad? Lol
had to look, can't unsee
Hope he ain't gonna cover the air bricks!!!!!!!
How much plaz!! It’s good stuff but I only use 10-15mm
🍾
👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Hate to be a critic, but bringing the step up on those air bricks like that seems to be asking for driving rain to flow right in whereas before they were raised up 1 brick from ground level. I'd be interested in your thoughts on it. Great job though.
How much it's job?
👍 👏 👏 👏 mevlana
