Their bet sizing. Villain bets too big when trying to bluff (we expect villain to value bet and not tell us to "go away") Vice versa they bet too small when they should be betting big.
I had a funny situation the other day where I made a hero call with 2nd pair. Used my whole time bank and thought I was making the right play. Dude had quads lol
Amazing how I watch so many of Your videos but still learn something every time. Your last video on limpers, You told me to look for limpers who limp-fold when I raise over them and it makes them way easier to play against. After this video, I had pocket 3s, no hearts and there were 2 hearts on the flop. I was aware of a flush draw so when it missed I called the river, and, low and behold, they had 2 hearts, no pair and I won. Genius of a teacher!
I'm a Korean who can't speak English. I often learned about the video through algorithms, but I bought it with Google Electronic Book. It will take a long time to watch it while using a translator, but thank you for reading it carefully and making good content for review. I should study English together
One of the most important factors if I call/fold a bluff catcher is position. If I am at the BB and villain at BTN/SB I over call because on most boards he/she has more junk to turn into a bluff. If I am BB versus HJ or ealier I tend to over fold because on most boards it his hard to find all the bluffs (like underpairs). Player tendencies, Betbetbet or betcheckbet lies, and board textures, unblockers/blciokers are also important. But position is a very important one and also easy to implement without studing a ton.
I raise pocket 66 go heads up to a flop of 5, 7, Q, all diamonds. I was tilting. I lead half pot. Buddy calls. Turn is a blank. Off suit 4 or something low like that. I bet 1/3 pot, get shoved on, tank for like 10 minutes and call cus tilt and I'm good. Opp has jack high. And that was my most profitable call yet
Had the Q9o example all wrong because of the Qs blocker to flush and 9 blocker to sets which of course blocks more bluffs as the bb will be calling a lot of QTo,QJo to the small flop bet, also 68o and JTo get there and maybe they call a few Axs. Love to be shown im wrong, thats how ya learn!!😁
Is it really as simple as “if u can beat a single hand that would value bet you should call”? I play in micros where obviously everybody plays very wildly. And so I might be at the river with top pair medium kicker but a flush is possible etc etc. And I won’t necessarily know my exact opponent personally but ill know that there are some people who would… lets say bet top pair small kicker or even second pair if they think im weak. But the vast majority of the time it’s either going to be top pair with a better kicker+. It feels wrong to just call that down 100% of the time. I guess so much poker advice always starts with a lot of assumptions like that you know what your opponent’s range is or you know if you beat their value / bluffs etc and I still don’t know how you would know that or how to apply it when you don’t know these things
Jonathan congrats on the pokergo run. I've noticed in your recordings/streams your audio cuts out often. Usually we only miss a word or two before it kicks back in,but sometimes there's some nuggets in those moments. Wondering if you are using a gate through your streaming platform. (OBS possibly?) If I am not entirely off in my diagnosis try reducing your attack time a little bit. At least one of your subs would appreciate it 🎉
I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. In theory, on the hand breakdown with A7s, would it be an easier/better call with a hand like A4 of spades?
Another great video @Jonathan Little 🙌🙌🙌👏👏👏 That @PokerGo Heater was something $weeeeeeeet!!! Congrats on your successes!!! I was able to catch that Live!!!
When bluff catching you actually want the suit of a missed flush draw most of the time as in gto theory and in practice alot of busted flush draw hands don’t want to bluff rivers
Nice talk about your kids routine. How is the education system in the US when it comes to school? Are there public schools or it costs money from childhood? Jonathan do your children go to private school?
At 26:00, these blockers always confuse me when they work both ways. So I get that pocket 7's would block their bluffing range on a 893,2,2 board, and so you should lean toward folding. But what about if the board is 893,2,6. Now the T7 and 75 made it, but you have 77 so you block both straights. So suddenly your hand goes from a fold to a good bluff catcher? Because you now block the best hand, maybe it's even a good bluff-raise candidate on the river?
It depends on how nut dependant the board is and how big villains bet size is, generally unblocking bluffs is more important than blocking the best value bets but if villain polarized using a massive sizing to a straight or nothing then blocking the straight is very relevant(assuming T7 is even in their preflop range)
What's YOUR top tip on how to make the perfect hero call? 🤑
analyze the board, stack size, player/position, and then my hand
Their bet sizing. Villain bets too big when trying to bluff (we expect villain to value bet and not tell us to "go away")
Vice versa they bet too small when they should be betting big.

Lool made the same thing had kj board 44j a 9 he had pocket 44
Sometimes you lose even when it's the right call 🤷 the right call isn't about whether or not you win the pot
@@vandal280but if you lose you made the wrong call.
It's Twitter it will never be X Jonathan, it's one of the strangest attempts to rebrand. Love the content as always!
