A note to all of you,
This run is TA (tool assisted), making it much shorter than it would otherwise be.
This of course means this man is not a god, simply very good at what he does and damn proud of it.

I skipped to the Nightmare fight to see how he did it so fast and I knew there was no way any human could mash those buttons that fast. Still really good though.
I've actually beaten it 100% in about 1:45 (I think it might have been a little higher), and that was being souped up on a can of Monster. I don't know how people beat it so fast without assistance. It's mind-blowing.

This is a tas, so it's pretty much superhuman and frame-perfect inputs... but basically, when he's defeating the core-xs (for beam upgrades), he's moving forward to create a doppler-like effect where all the missiles strike the core at the same frame, which causes the core x to take all the shots at once. It's really only feasible to land double hits, near if not totally impossible to triple-shot, don't know. But the movement and firing time of the missiles causes them to collide at the same frame.

how did Ferris die in two shots? (24:40)

    • @Zsaver3
      @Zsaver3 8 лет назад +5

Serris has 50 health, and a charged shot does 20 damage. However, that glow around the arm cannon, commonly referred to as the flare, also does 6 damage. So with optimization, both the shot and flare hit simultaneously, doing 26 damage. Doing this twice two-shots serris.

What Nintendo should have done is make this game readily available TO EVERYONE on the Nintendo 3DS e-shop. I don't know why they're putting GBA games on the Wii-U e-shop.
From what I remember... everyone who purchased the original 3DS at launch were subject to a rewards program. It allowed them to choose from a list of games to be downloaded to their handheld, one of which was Fusion.
Again, that's stupid. I'd have loved to buy that on my 3DS, despite the fact that I still own the original copy for GBA. When I get home, I don't feel like playing a GBA game more than half the time.

Tool Assisted Speedrun/Superplay. It's essentially playing the game at super slow speeds so you can do tricks that require frame-perfect precision. You can also save the game anywhere and load it whenever you want, allowing you to retry any room or boss to get a faster time on it. They also generally use tricks and glitches to get things early or bypass certain things, but you don't see that too much in this game.

I love the Metroid series but I was never privileged enough to have them all. I used to have Zero Mission but I let someone borrow it and they never returned it. I literally wrote, by hand, the entire Metroid Fusion dialog and have memorized it in English and in Japanese. I, using graph paper, drew each map with each item location. I even, using those clear projector sheets, drew the most efficient routes to take for 100% runs, 1% (0%) runs, and item specific runs as well as the Easter Egg.

use the charge beam, after firing each shot, retreat enough to charge again, then turn around and fire again in quick succession. Each time the SA-X takes a hit, it will flinch then somersault toward you (as you are running away), if you do this correctly, it cant even hit you. Just jump over it after hitting it to avoid it if you run out of room. Once you get the pattern, its really easy to beat. Its monster form is even easier.

Not sure about the wall jumping, but I know how to slow your fall. A to spin attack, up/down to cancel, A to spin attack, up/down to cancel, and repeat as fast as possible. It restarts your falling speed each time you cancel.

Sticking your arm-cannon into a tube gives you missiles and bombs that are 2x the size of your arm.
    There's no arguing video-game logic.

He used the Visual Boy Advance emulator.
Go through the link in the description and you will be able to find more information how this and other Tool Assisted Speedruns are made.

I didn't make this TAS, but no, you can't really beat this time... It's a Tool Assisted Speedrun done on an emulator with frame advance and save states, showing how fast a run can be when perfected.
The WR is around 1:44:00, starting at file select and ending when the ship beams you in. More Fusion runners are always welcome and there is some nice competition for the different categories.

Yeah, TAS timing counts everything from powering on the game until the final input needed to beat it.
However, the in game timer, displayed at the very end of the video, does not include cutscenes and such.
