Brendan did his own stunts for this movie and broke several bones in the process. There’s no stuntman
Including the hanging scene, which almost killed him because they made a mistake with the rig protecting his neck.
Yep, that's why his body got so broken over the years. Doing all the Mummy films and doing his own stunts just destroyed his bones, unfortunately. I'm glad he's come back into acting now, though. He was gone for so long.
While I do admire his dedication, I still think he should have looked after himself better. There's nothing wrong with having stunt doubles.
@@jcp1984againThe people in charge should have protected him more. It's their job...
@@AshLee92490 , that can only go so far though. Fraser was probably a fun person who didn't complain about anything. Long-term damage can pile up almost unnoticeably.

Had to be inspiration for Bob Odenkirk in Nobody hospital scene.
Direct hit. Looked so painful.
“Relax. I’m the Map” is something I still say in an amusement park once I’ve plotted the paths to coasters.😂👍🏾
I've said "Now we must begin the hunt..." when setting out to look for my lost keys or whatnot.
Have anyone responded, "Oh, that's comforting?" 😆
My dad would say that. We still get lost
My manager when my co-worker dies "you just got promoted"
There's supposed to be subtitles. When Benny shows him the necklaces The Mummy points out he speaks the language of the slaves and takes Benny as his servant by showing him the gold trinkets as rewards. But demands Benny show him who took the other jars.
He was speaking Hebrew.
@@erinspoonster570Which was the language of the slaves
@@erinspoonster570 It was part of Imhotep's dialogue, "the language of the slaves." Google the scene.
That scene and the plague references cement this movie as like, stealth-Christian.
My friend here knows his movie. I can confirm this is true. It’s that way on the original DVD version
I also love that this movie is over 2 hours long, but feels 90 minutes. It just FLIES by.
If Indiana Jones is a love letter to people who love old high adventure serial, The Mummy is the proposal, wedding and honeymoon all in one
Agreed. The only thing that was missing was the German army of the time.
The Mummies wacked us, Johnny.
Watch the 1938 movie angels with dirty faces
The Mummy is a remake of a movie from the 20s, very popular story but yes.
@coldflamebluedragon196 it's totally unrelated to movie serials as it's a remake of a film that predates them
😃 fun fact: the actor that played benni was disliked/hated by the camels on set for some unknown reason. The scenes where you see the camel making angry disgruntled sounds n not listening to him was real.
Based camels.
Camels were just staying in character 😂
The Mummy and Pirates of The Caribbean brought back the magic at Disney/Universal, big time!
Massive, massive worldwide hits - in the vain of Marvel at the time.
One came out after the other, and they were different, but had the same elements of magic and wonder. Good times!
"I am...a librarian!" That's the moment I went from liking this movie to loving it! 😀 This was the first time I'd seen Rachel Weisz, but she was _so_ good in this! I was not at all surprised that she went on to win an Oscar just a few years later!
Same!
Especially since I am a librarian.
I remember being so pleasantly surprised when I first watched this film. The classic adventure movie vibes, the comedy, and the action was all so much fun.
I still really like the fact that O'connel doesn't really 'hurt,' Benny. Even in the end he tried saving him and put his life on the line to save him.
Rick O'Connel, played by Brendan Fraser is a hell of an actor and provided the majority of his own stunts! This is what led to the Mummy series being so loved and respected! He worked his BUTT OFF preparing and doing these stunts and to a degree he did suffer fro them. His charm and physicality is what makes this character come to life as much as it does, even over the decades! I'm so glad you finally began the Mummy collection! Rachel Weiss is another fantastic actress who provided the perfect amount of softness alongside her co star Brendan. I also love movies and books on ancient civilizations and period films. Just a wonderful film series all around!
I´m historian (I also teach) and, believe me, a great influence on studying what I studied was from watching films like this. Starting with Indiana Jones saga, later on The Mummy saga or National Treasure. These films inspired many generations and continues to do so.
I always like the theory about the brother Johnathan. He's intelligent, able to fight if he needs to, and capable in some fields. Put that together with the time frame of the movie, his drinking, and his quote about sometimes wanting to join the dead made some people think he was a WWI vet.
Seen this theory and I agree.
the mummy takes place before WW2 it takes place in 1926 ww2 started in sep 1939
@@houseofactiontake a closer look at that comment. Also, that’s a really good theory.
@@houseofaction He literally said WWI, not 2
The enlistments where huge, so probably he and his dad fougth (and probably died in it in the case of the father)...because he was a ritch kid in a colony; he may have not seen all that mutch action (meaning the major trench battles in Europe) but enough to have basic combat training and having seen some stuff and some survivor complex
People: *dying screams after opening tomb*
Ames: *laughs hysterically*
Yeah, that tracks.
Dunno about anyone else, but that's a part of the reason I'm here!
Arnold Vosloo as Imhotep was flawless. There is a lot of talk about the main actors, but he has a very good and very relevant role. I already liked it at this time, for films like "1492: Conquest of Paradise", "Hard Target" and "Darkman" saga.
He is one of the main actors.
His meme lives on also
There's something very Billy Zanian about him.
Oh this was such a fun movie. Fraser really brought O'Connel to life.
I love this movie, it’s such a childhoods classic
Also Ames is so beautiful ❤
This is absolutely in the classic mould of adventure thrillers from the last century. Danger, stunts, exotic locations, banter and romance. It's just good fun, with a little bit of horror thrown in for spice.
Some movies from this early DVD era, if you turn on subtitles it overrides the original subtitles from the movie. If you rewatch the movie with subtitles turned off, suddenly the captions for Egyptian and Arabic should be there
She watched a cheap bootleg. No subs is the tradeoff.
@@RobertJ-vo4bknah I can confirm last time I tried watching this on streaming with captions on it got rid of the Egyptian subs

@@matthewsuchomski2593 Deaf ppl?
@@danbhakta sure, but I'm referring to people with perfectly good hearing. it seems like most of these reaction channels always have subtitles turned on for movies that are already in English, that seems weird to me.
fun fact - I've seen this film so many times that I know exactly what they're saying without the subtitles. :D
Same =)
This is probably my most rewatched movie of all time. Great humor, awesome action, memorable characters, and i even love the romance, it actually may be the best thing about it.
Those bugs freaked me out as a kid. I thought those and quick-sand were gonna be a problem in life haha
Interesting fact that'll ruin this for you, there's no quicksand in Egypt. You need moisture for that.
The CGI?
I grew up in the '70s, and we were all afraid of quicksand. Tons of movies and shows from the '50s, '60s and '70s had people getting caught in quicksand, and we all thought the stuff was everywhere and people fell in all the time. We had news stories and the like telling people what to do if ever caught in quicksand.
Decades later, I have yet to see actual quicksand, and have never heard of anyone getting caught in it, let alone dying. Turns out getting stuck is rare, and dying is even more rare. People usually only get legs stuck, maybe up to their chest at worst, and dying is usually the result of a rising tide drowning you, or exposure to elements, rather than getting sucked under the quicksand.
Just look up sink holes around America... There you go, anxiety re-engaged!
""Why are they wearing body paint?" Body paint is always a good response to any situation.
Especially when worn by a young Patricia Velasquez
Now you need to watch my favorite Brendan Fraser movie, Blast From the Past.
When you watch, "The Whale," that will become your favorite Brendan Fraser movie.
YESSSSSS you finally crossed off another one of my Top 10 films!
And this was one of those breathtaking-in-theaters type movies. Seeing this on the big screen stuck with me as much as the Star Wars Original Trilogy being back in theaters in 1997, Top Gun: Maverick and maybe one or two others.
What a fantastic film. Fraser has stated that if they bring the same cast back and the script is faithful and done with love, he WILL reprise his role at some point during his comeback. I have got my fingers crossed.
13:30 “You best start believing in ghost stories, Miss Turner. You’re in one!”
"There are no straight women. There are just women who haven't seen Rachel Weisz in The Mummy yet."
But seriously, I love this movie so much. And Rachel Weisz is the MVP. Everybody in this movie looks like they're having a blast, but she takes it to a whole new level.
I love Rachel in other movies but not so much in this one. Her character is too goofy. Plus everyone forgets she is literally the cause of the entire catastrophe, she resurrected him out of sheer stupidity. Besides, I was too distracted by Patricia Velasquez tbh.
@nodak81 Yeah, but that's when you get into the whole Evil Dead thing. If they don't read from the book, there's no movie.
Personally, I just love the playfulness and class Rachel Weisz brings to it. Patricia Velasquez is gorgeous but she had a better chance to shine in Mummy Returns.
@@nodak81Too goofy? The whole movie is goofy, but in a great way. She is fantastic in this movie, as is Brendan Fraser. I'd watch the movies just for them alone.
@@nodak81 Stupidity though? It's the '20s and she's an academic, of course she doesn't put stock in superstitions. We in the audience happen to know what's up, but why would she? TBF, the archaeologist on the other crew reacts to her reading from the book like he knows, but he may already have had some experience of this stuff in the field that she lacks.
@@nodak81 No, the guards/guardians are the cause. They cursed him to eternal life and then entombed him, making it inevitable that he would return, and giving them and their descendants an endless task. If they had just killed him, that would have been the end of it, but no, their over developed sense of vengeance caused the whole mess.
"If Jack Burton was Indiana Jones..." is an excellent description of O'Connell's personality.
The trick with the mirrors was tested by "Mythbusters", and it works - as long as the sun is in exactly the right place, which it usually isn't, and it moves during the day. So it's not really that useful.
If Jack Burton was competent, and Indiana Jones.
My favorite character was ALWAYS the Medji warrior Oded!
He originally was written out, sacrificing himself, but test audiences loved his character so much they let him live for the sequels!
The actor appears in Star Trek Discovery at the main Admiral in the future... Also Deuce Bigallow.
Good news for the crew of this movie. The scene with the tumbling bookshelves only took one take. No having to reset the mess.
It was done by having someone dressed as Evie tip over the first bookshelf. Once the camera had followed the domino effect, the actress, having just been below camera level, just had to pop up into frame.
Winston is played by Bernard Fox. He is best known for playing Dr. Bombay on Bewitched and Col. Crittenden on Hogan's Heroes.
Indeed, I remember him well. Was always one of my favorites.
There aren't words strong enough to describe how much I love this movie. Everyone is incredible on their respective roles (especially Kevin J O'Connor as Beni) but there's just something special about the 3 leads - Brendan, Rachel, and Arnold - that helps this movie overshadow everything else in this genre for me. Oh, and Winston. We love Winston. We particularly love how, the moment he finds out he could die on this mission, nothing else matters and he's in with his whole entire British heart.
"That mummy has some nice glutes", said with a lustful grin. Oh, girl, do we need to be worried about you?
Saw this movie originally with my niece and nephew. Enjoyed it then and it still holds up well today. Brendan Fraser's best performance to me was in 'The Whale' (2022).
Another great Frasier movie is
Blast from the Past
Its a great movie if you wanna smile the whole time
That’s such a classic feel good movie
this movie is literally what set me on the path to study archaeology as an adult :D no mummies for me so far yet though, but I could offer some bog bodies XD
28:35 Here, when the man spoke Hebrew, the mummy recognized it as "the language of slaves", a call back to the Israelite being enslaved in Egypt, and thus he decided to keep the guy around as his servant.
One of many inaccuracies in the movie, as the Israelites were never slaves, there's no evidence in any Egyptian records or physical evidence of their exodus across the desert into Israel. The Egyptians didn't use slaves to build pyramids and monuments anyway, they used unskilled labourers to haul the stones, skilled stonemasons and brick layers to place them and carpenters to build the sleds and ramps.
Still a great movie, a classic switch your brain off adventure flick.
@greypilgrim228 Demanding accuracy to real history from a movie with a walking corpse in it is laughable.
The Bible talks about it. @greypilgrim228
@@Ali-bu6lo Well ye lol, obviously it's a comedy/horror/adventure type thing in the same vein as Indiana Jones, nobody was expecting realism, but they didn't have to make shit up about Egypt (like making a 5th canopic jar, saying they pulled out the heart which Egyptians didn't actually do). Saying that though they do get a lot accurate, like the hieroglyphs. I watched a video of an Egyptologist translating every scene with them in, and they match up with what they're supposed to say surprisingly well. Compare that to Tom Cruise's Mummy film, where they just scribbled a bunch of random hieroglyphs that don't mean anything out of context, copied from surviving parchments of the book of the dead. Most of the hieroglyphs I think were more early AD Coptic writings than ancient Egyptian.
@@greypilgrim228 At this point in time things in movies were still heavily influenced by Christian biblical teachings and ideas. And within that idea everyone "knows" that Egypt had slaves as their manual labor. It was simply something the writers took as fact because that's likely how they were raised and wrote it into the movie as such.
The Mummy is a great movie!
O'Connell chair maneuver > Riker chair manuever (st:tng)
Yay!! I used to play this movie over and over when I was a kid!🍿🥤
Brendon Fraser was almost actually hanged when the stunt failed.
Fraser, there’s no ‘i’ in it.
@@c1ph3rpunk There's no I in Tieam.
@@captironsight there is now
Odd the subtitles were off. But the Imhotep/Beni exchange was more or less Beni's prayer in Hebrew, Imhotep recognized it as "the language of the slaves" he then says "I may yet have a use for you". While extending the gold he says "And the rewards will be great" While shaking the broken Canopic Jar he asks "Where are the other sacred jars" a moment of foreshadowing to the hunting down of the rest of the Americans that opened the box.
Amazing how even the mummy knew that the speakers of that language would sell their own family for a dollar. Thousands of years, and nothing about them changed.
Saw it in the theater when it came out. It's an all around fun movie.
27:26 Let me see your war face is such a good reference 😂
The mummy spares Benny because he recognizes Hebrew.
Its shows how ignorant imotep was. A priest well fluent in the dark arts, being all he knew besides Ankh su nmuns flesh, would be fooled by a hungarian nihlist with multiple trinkets
@@HumungusO_o What do you mean fooled? Benny was a coward (i.e. controllable) and a useful tool at the time - especially since he was a contemporary who spoke a language Imhotep knew. He just didn't care about Benny besides that. And of course after becoming immortal and having got his girl, he would've ruled the earth. Plenty of time to hunt down and punish Benny if he thought it was needed.
@@blechtic you just proved my point.
@@HumungusO_o You really think so?
@@HumungusO_o You said Imhotep was ignorant. Ignorant of what? The other person is pointing out how he's not being ignorant and knows that Benny is just a tool.
A friend of mine through middle school and I STILL quote this movie! She's always reminded me of Evie, and she's always said that I remind her of Rick. Too bad she's not interested in marriage at all. Still, my heart aches for her. 🥰
Brendan Fraser nearly died during the scene where his character is hanged. Rachel Weisz remembered, "He [Fraser] stopped breathing and had to be resuscitated."
Yeah, i just read up on that. It caused him to black out and at no point did he need resuscitated or stop breathing so to say he nearly died is a real exaggeration and this thing people do of taking what happened and stretching it to it's most extreme interpretation i do not like (you guys believe all these kind of stories and repeat them for different movies as fact with zero research). He had crew around him and would have never been in legitimate danger of being left to choke to death. He basically had the equivalent of a choke hold put on him therefor blacked out. Scary at the time i have no doubt.
SO many beautiful humans in this movie, eye candy for all!
One of the best feel good movies back then. Great comedy, adventure and thrill. A hero and heroin with weaknesses and strengths. Such a good piece of entertainment.
There was not stuntman, Brandon was doing everything by himself 👍
I bet she's going to just love Benny!
That destruction scene at the end was so good that it almost got the film company in trouble with the country where they were filming. The wall at the front is an actual wall, and a national land mark. When they saw the footage of that destruction, they actually thought that the wall had been destroyed as well.
BANGER... after BANGER... after BANGER! I'm always excited seeing what you'll watch each week, and I'm always pleasantly surprised. Im pretty sure you've covered like 90% of my favorite movies of all time at this point.
I'm really glad you checked this one out, Ames. It's a fun ride. It's also one of the first movies I saw with my wife in theatres, and so I try to watch it every year on the same day to remember her.
Ames, I LOVE you! Thank you for letting us spend this time with you. One of my favorite movies.
Somehow I feel so bad for Benny, and yet, he did it to himself more than once, just like being on the wrong side of a river 😂 🤣 He was so dumb there! And that "war face" on O'Connell! That one worked well!
Your watch brought me back to the theater, seeing this for the first time! At the time it was unique, a horror movie with essentially no blood. A romance with 1 true kiss. a love story tragedy in the background. Just all around style and warmth and humor on top of a lovely mummy movie. This is a film i will always stop to watch if i catch it. Keep up the great work.
I saw this movie 4 times in theaters and once at the drive in. It never gets old.
I love the romance in this movie! Not what I expected, but it's just a fun action/romance/comedy. It is such a feel good movie.
My favorite thing about this movie is the way all the gory scenes were suggested by shadows or off camera with the other characters reacting to it. It was a brilliant homage to the old Boris Karloff Mummy movies of the 1930s. Those movies played on Saturday night "Creature Features" when I was a kid back in the 70s
This film is the very definition of good entertainment. Just like you said, a fantastic blend of comedy, horror, action, and romance. There's few instances of pause, and little thinking needed. One of my favorites!
The Mummy is either one of the most enjoyable bad movies ever made, or one of the most nonsensical good movies ever made. It's completely ludicrous, and yet so much fun to watch.
The Mummy is one of those "critic-proof" movies like Commando or Face/Off.
Are there problems with it? Absolutely
Do I care? No
@MadMike1 I would add the original Road House with Patrick Swayze to that list. Does it make much sense as a story? Not really. Do I enjoy watching it anyway? Yup.
I adored your laughs through this!
I remember watching this as a kid, and I was absolutely shocked shoeless watching the initial reveal in the pyramidal crypt, of Imhotep. Absoluely chilled, as an adult, not so much haha, but that first time as a child watching it, two hands over eyes were the only save. Hope you enjoyed it :)
I watched this so much as a kid & its been one of my favorites ever since!!! I even played the Playstation game back in the day because I loved it so much. One of the most underrated films ever in my opinion & the best adaption to the classic Mummy. Also...Rachel Weisz & Brendan Fraiser have no right to be so attractive in this movie!!! You've also got the most weasely character in film history...damn you Benny!! Jonathan is a riot too & i love him!😂 The sequel ain't bad either but im so happy you're reviewing this!! Big Winston salute🙌

36:45 --- Isn't that what everyone really wants at least ONCE in their lives? To be a hero.
“Let me see your war face.”
FMJ reference had me dying of laughter. 😂😂😂😂😂
As someone who is claustrophobic as well, I think I could handle going into a pyramid nowadays because there is usually a clearly marked exit, but if it’s somewhere that I couldn’t easily find my way out of, then I’d start to freak out. A good movie suggestion for a fellow claustrophobic, is The Descent.
17:59 Actually on soft sand, camels are faster than horses because they have wider feet, same principle as snowshoes.
Kevin J Connor who plays Beni plays a similar type of character in the movie 'Deep Rising' which is really worth a watch.
Thank you, I can never remember his name!
I remember seeing that movie in the theater when I was in high school with a friend of mine.
Brendan is still in the running for being the best leading man from before the new millennium…… he’s absolutely gorgeous. I will die on that hill… he’s also running against Bill Paxton from 1996’s Twister…..
Those two are baby daddy’s of mine in another universe 😂😂😂😂😂
Great movie one of those fun comfort movies that never gets old, thanks again!
Saw this at a cinema matinee when it dropped. Amazing!
Wasn't sure about the casting of Encino Man as the lead but DAMN if Brendan Frasier isn't a treasure.
Should watch The Whale. Easily the best performance of his career.
I remember the ride. Did it about 20 years ago here in Orlando. The decor of the queuing was AMAZING.
"Let me see your war face"

"HEY BENNY, IT LOOKS LIKE YOU'RE ON THE WRONG SIDE OF THE RIVER!" Is one of my favorite lines in any movie iver ever seen. Idk why but it has stuck to me since first watched this movie
For me, beauty is more than just physical looks, and in this movie Rachel Weisz checks all of the boxes. A smart, brave, nerdy librarian who *also* happens to be stunningly beautiful? Yes, please.
Another movie from the same guy that has a lot of the same vibes to it (and also has the actor who played Beni in it - he likes using that guy) that has been mostly forgotten is the Lovecraftian action-adventure-horror movie Deep Rising. It came out the year before The Mummy, and some of the CGI shows it, but it's still loads of over-the-top campy fun. I don't want to say too much else about it in case you decide to watch it, because spoilers, but I definitely recommend it.
easily one of my favorite movies growing up
Your 'bug swarm face' 27:05 was a classic reaction.
The sequel is also a must watch.
Also, the Jumanji series??? You’ll love it.
The VFX team came to my school to give a presentation on this the year it came out, the tech they were working with was insane at the time, it was an amazing behind the scenes look into how they made everything come to life, no pun intended. That sequence where O'Connell is swinging around plowing through all those mummies was great because everything that wasn't him and the sword were CGI, they just built and animated the characters around his swings.
I used to do SFX injury makeup (moulage). So much fun !
Since I too love Rachel Weisz, and you tied this to Big Trouble in Little China which I also love, you unquestionably get my worthless gold star of the day! ❤
Thank you for another great reaction. This was fun!
One of my favourite movies of all time. Watch it all the time.
Ames, you're so much fun to watch movies with. I love your enthusiasm and your laugh is infectious (in a good way!). Keep on keeping on!
Okay, the “Lemme see your War Face” was a nice homage, and a perfect Ames move!
*The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they did get the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains (minus a slight omission): The embalmers used the hook to also punch a hole in the person's skull so the brain drained out when they were rolled over. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie.*
*Side trivia:*
*1. In the scene introducing her as Ankh-su-namun, model/actress Patricia Velásquez was completely naked with the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, pasties & body paint (body paint took four hours to apply).*
*2. Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that he had a near-death experience during a stunt gone wrong while filming “The Mummy.” The Oscar winner said he was “choked out accidentally” during the scene in which he had to be hanged from the gallows in the Egyptian prison, which resulted in him being resuscitated by on-set medical personnel.*
*3. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster (on flat land), but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the sand as they move.*
*4. After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading The Book Of The Dead (which is actually a funerary scroll in real life) and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish. On a similar note, the scarabs in real life were merely dung beetles, not vicious flesh eaters.*
Awww... you missed my favorite line in the movie! "Oh.... My... God... Winston! Pedal faster!". 🤣 I love this movie.... it's just the right balance of high adventure story, and campy comedy. I think you need to watch it again, and turn on subtitles to see the subtitles... they were there! I swear!
Fuck yea we are. One of my favorite movies ever. 10/10 soundtrack, great cinematography, VFX that still hold up, great cast, plus all the main characters are extremely attractive lol. Not to be too much of a pop culture snob but to all the people who don't understand - yes this is a stellar movie but it's a "reboot" or "remake" of a movie that's been made before, similar to how there are 3 The Things. The original Mummy (1932) is basically the same story - a team of archaeologists finds Imhotep and resurrects him using the Scroll of Thoth and then he escapes, but, the second half of the movie is a bit different. The Mummy as a story has been done in media quite a bit whether it's Invincible, Goosebumps, etc.
I really enjoyed your video. This is the first one of yours I've seen. Great job!
Was just thinking. The cutting out of his tongue would be a huge curse for ancient Egyptians. As I remember, a part of their afterlife belief is that you have to recite a specific death spell or be doomed .
I thought it was because you had to say your own name when you have to be judged. Ancient Egyptians believed that the name was sacred.
"Birthplace of Anck Su Namun, Pharaoh's mistress. No other man was allowed to touch her"
In those final years of the century (1999), we went crazy with Patricia Velásquez. What a woman.
What a fun romp! Rachel Weisz is so adorable! The Mummy is a favorite movie of librarians across the world! 😂
Another quality and perceptive reaction Ames.
One of my, "go to" movies at one time, the one you put in after searching for a movie for twenty minutes. It has a great balance of silly and adventure that gives it a lovely charm.
For my money the sequels try and fail to make the same grade, but, y'know, once you start a franchise.......
Save the librarian, save the world. Damn. Now I want to watch, Heroes.
The original BW Mummy, with Boris Karloff, is very good. The Hammer Horror Mummy movie is very good too. Some of the Hammer Horror films are on Tubi. Peter Cushing was involved with the Hammer movies.
Another Egypt themed movie worth watching: Stargate~
She'll need to watch Children of the gods part 1 & 2 afterwards to follow-up the movie
Your comment about him needing a breath mint nearly made me spit out my tea :)
FUN FACT: The reason Imhotep is still "juicy" when the dig him up isn't said in the film, but it's because of the scarabs: in ancient Egypt, the scarab was considered sacred (symbolic of the sun, etc.) Likewise, Imhotep, being the High Priest, was considered a sacred man. By eating the scarabs, Imhotep would be condemned to live forever, and for eating Imhotep, the scarabs would be condemned to live forever. The idea would be that they'd live for eternity, feeding off each other.
Wouldn’t he eventually run out of scarabs?
@@bigpictureguys8415 Well, yes, but the idea is that the scarabs would live forever, too.
