I love Yuka Yanagihara from many tunes I have heard ,but the bass players solo is exceptional and the drummer carries the beat as non-intrusively as possible but yet manages to add an immense richness to the sound. I hear he also sets up the stage and the recording... so beautifully done.The trio is so damn tight. The music calms me down. Damn you folks exude soooooo much class. You are Japanese but you get the soul of American Jazz.

@@OsakaJazzChannel Usually the melodic line /theme is introduced by the pianist and the bass supports it with rhythm. In this case the bass player introduces the melodic line/theme and the piano player just supports it. Wonder how this came to be? Whose idea was it? Very unusual and arresting.
All of our performances are improvised on the day of the live show since the band is always put together only for that specific day.
This performance was suggested by the bassist in the video - Satsuki Kusui who played the melody beautifully and needless to say, did a wonderful job during the whole event.

How novel to begin with the bass and let it build from there. Makes you focus. The interplay between all, the fascinating variations by Yuka, the delicate plays by Takashi, and to top it all off, the surprise grace at the end with the bow. Great stuff. Thank you!

The lazy bass line is very centering. Cool guy. Seamless handover to the pianist. She kills it.
Needless to say, Satsuki Kusui and Yuka Yanagihara, the bassist and pianist in the video are one of the best and incredibly talented musicians we have around.

Deligjtful! Mr Kusui is such a virtuoso as are Ms Yanagihara and Mr Kuge. Kusui beautifully states the melody then hands off to Ms Yanagihara to perform her bouncy magic, while Mr. Kuge gently puts his brushes to good use. This sublime conversation is heartily enjoyed by these musicians as well as everyone within ear shot. A fine example of players having too much fun and sharing it. Love it.

It was our first time having Mr.Kusui with us and needless to say, he was a marvelous musician as well as a wonderful person.
We had a great time playing and hope we were able to share that feeling even just a little through our performance/video.

What a lovely version of this standard from this wonderfully talented trio all playing off each other and visably enjoying themselves whilst giving great pleasure to those listening. Yuka is one of the most original and talented jazz pianists I have had the privilege of hearing. Her playing is so original, her improvising so tasteful, she puts her heart and soul into her playing and her music swings like it should in jazz. Thank you Yuka for shining light in this grim world.
