I appreciate your resilience shown in this video. You just worked right through the problems (no seasoning, poorly constructed tent, rain, crossing a river, camera falling, etc. )! You must know that the imperfections are the things that make a great video. It's called entertainment and I love it. Keep going!

Very much enjoy your videos, although i must step in on this one. I have this unit and very happy so far. Suggestion. You set up the system Once before you get into the wild. Obvious this is your first time other wise you wouldn't have your truck backed half way in to the tent . Because of this , water runs directly into the tent. You also admit the fly might not be correctly position ( which it isn't ) ,again contributes to your water pooling. People watch your videos and base they're purchases accordingly .

UPDATE: 23 Jun 2021: The dealer has not been able to get a response from Napier so have decided to take the tent back to check it for faults and if so issue a refund. That is good service. Not so good is Napier's silence.
This was supposed to be a 2 night camp testing gear for an eventual trip with my wife. To make sure she would be warm and dry. Didn't go according to plan. Hope you enjoy the video! Oh, and this is a direct quote from Napier Sportz website: "Do I need to use a seam sealer on my tent?
A seam sealer is not necessary. Our rainflies and truck tent floors have taped seams to guard against water entry. For additional protection and product maintenance, you may wish to use a seam sealant on your tent. Please note that water drops through the needle holes along the seams is common with all tents and is not a manufacturer’s defect." LOL!!!

If you set up a new tent on a sunny day (before you take it camping) soak it wet, then let it dry in the sun, it will tighten the fabric and seams and be more water resistant. You can also spray it with scotch guard fabric water sealer. Hope this helps.

Love the tent but since first time solo camping it took me over an hour to set up tent. 69 years old and newly widowed I needed to get away. It doesn’t have a vestibule but did great in rain. Used an indoor/outdoor carpet inside and I had a little home!

We went on a camping trip[ with 20 Girl Scout families and there was a torrential downpour. - we were the ONLY people who were not dragging wet camping gear out of our tent in the morning. I was worried because we had some pooling - but nothing came inside. THe seams were not just sealed they were double reinforced.

Well done for getting out there In heavy rain to test a tent. I have learnt that most tents are crap, I just dont trust them on their own. Now days i put a tarp over the tent, run a ridge line from two staked poles and paracord. I use a vango tent under a decent ridgeline tarp which i made out of ripstop and an iron. never gets wet. Upgraded aluminium poles also. whole setup is about 200 pounds and has lasted since 2018. like you said, stick with what you know. cheers for sharing.

You're doing a wonderful job with him. Don't worry about what other people say. You don't have to explain anything you do with Brucey, he's your dog. If they don't like it well, they don't have to watch.
Why can't people just mind their own business 🙄 not all dogs are the same. Why do people think just because they have a dog that they know everything 🤔 when they don't have a clue? "Ugh."
My brother-in-law has a mountain dog, and yes, they are totally different from a house, urban city dog.
My point is that people need to worry about themselves instead of putting their nose where they don't belong. Geezers just leave others alone, plus Brucey is healthy and loved. He eats like a king, yet people still feel the need to pick SMH.

Might not be a bad idea to keep one in your truck? Maybe a smaller sealed box in your pack when you walk to your site so that you will always have something in case you forget seasoning or anything. I am a rain lover and the thrill of being in the rain was what made me start watching you and your dog on your out in the rain camping experiences. I have enjoyed your adventures. One thing that I felt i had to comment on was your Napier tent review. You are the tent in the rain guru and I give you that. But I respectfully inquire was that tent designed for your massive truck? I liked the tent so I researched a bit as i watched your video. It seems to be advertised for SUV's which are smaller than that tank you drive and when you commence your setups you have started with the storm already in progress before you begin. I have a Ford pickup. maybe that tent was not designed for the truck configuration. And your truck is bigger than mine. Sad but I could not find anything in the sale description that actually said put me on a truck. Outside of that Fire up a good cigar, pop a cold one, give Bruce a treat and chillax man. You are the rainman. Don't let the rain get you so flustered.

He so obviously loves you and his life! This thing of dogs wearing coats started as a marketing thing! Only naturally bald dogs need coats. Hence nature gave the rest a good one! Had dogs that have lived for many many years and never bought coats! (Horses for courses!) Not good how the tent leaked!

I sprayed it with Out Door Scotch gaurd. I didn't get the rain fly on it. Of course it rained, like the rain you had. Next day I wasn't surprised it leaked. Thanks to you I wasn't too upset.
I sprayed the seems again put rain fly on. But it hasn't rained yet 😕 I don't want to go camping till it's sorted out.
You saved me a miserable Trip.

I absolutely loved watching this camping adventure. I enjoyed the cozy feel of the tent even with the rain pouring in. I've never been camping but this is how I would like to try it. Big closed in tent, tailgate, cot with luxury padding and a warm quilt. Of course can't forget the good food and very good wine. My Bichon 'Bella' would have to stay home tho because she doesn't like the rain and especially doesn't like getting her feet wet. Hello Bruce!!! you gorgeous boy. I love seeing you always. Thanks for sharing.

" They took the tent back and refunded because it was faulty."
So glad you did that, and that they took it back! But we did love watching your video of everything--sure some great funny moments! We haven't finished watching it yet, but do love your long format videos!
We love your ability to bring us with you as if we're having a conversation. I feel you're a part of our family now, thanks so much for letting us in!
So sorry for the loss of your father--that must have been so hard!
My husbands' mother passed 9 months before COVID hit--he had been really sad, but we're both so happy now that she went when she did so that we were able to visit her right to the end. Would have been terrible if we weren't able to see her as many of the Canadian senior home's were locked down and no one could visit loved ones! Such a lonely way to go!
We're so glad you got to spend so much time with your dad before he passed, such a treasure that was! So sad that YOU got Covid though!
God bless you and your lovely family!

I got one of these tents for my Honda Element. I almost got the Napier, but got the Honda one instead and set it up in my front yard just to get familiar with it. Clearly it was not sealed and intended for rain at all. I took off work this week to go camping, but 100% chance of rain everywhere within driving distance, so I wimped out and stayed home. My friend sent me the link to your video, so I got the experience without actually having to deal with it. I spent two weeks building a setup in my car to sleep with my 2 cats and my dog. The tent was supposed to just be a place to hang out during the day, but I could tell it was going to be miserable. Thanks for sharing. I may try to rig up a rain fly for the top and do some seam sealing ahead of time. Can't always count on fair weather. Love Bruce!! You are a trooper to get through a night, but perhaps the whiskey and bacon helped. LOL!!

Yes, dogs are still animals, they know how to survive and drink water if its raining, the problems people have is they treat their dog so much like humans they take away their animal instincts and natural survival tactics. Dogs are smart, they know what to do, as for being outside in rain and cold, people forget they have their own fur coats, they stay warmer than us.

Awesome video, I really enjoyed watching! Always be prepared for your first pancake to be the 'sacrificial' one, that christens the pan and turns out a mess ;) It will tell you if you need to change your mix a bit, or vary your heat. Second time lucky, first one goes in the dog ;) (cooking without butter/oil is playing on hard mode anyway, that spray-oil is great for greasing the pan for pancakes)

Not like the old days when I was a child where we only had canvas tents, which were most definitely not water proof and also with wooden poles.
