Available on Steam: store.steampow...
Honestly this game freaked me out not by jumpscares but by glitchy textures hiding the monster from even knowing it’s in front of you. Love it
44:56 I'm assuming this is what we looked like in Mothered.
but in child size.
So watching this after having watched the Mothered playthrough, it's now even sadder. the "red" in the title (Mother+Red) now makes sense, and after their entire time of being a sort of soulless AI, they finally obtain some kind of sentience (influenced perhaps by their previous existence Liana) but now they are being labeled as contaminated and must be studied due to this new sentience and will to create their own purpose. Now they are being studied and killed over and over... so sad.
I agree. I was pretty devastated by the ending of this game when I first played it. Now after playing Mothered it hits even harder. Poor Red!
@@AlphaBetaGamer Is there another ending ? A way to save Red and not killing her like the others did before ?
I finished both games and I'm craving for more.
@@Vallandriel I think that's the only ending. The devs are working on another game though (called Epistasis). Perhaps Red will make a return then.
Neco the Sergal has a playthrough of Echostasis Prologue up.
I think Red was finally free in that game... and Enigma Tech was screwed.
44:56 I'm assuming this is what we looked like in Mothered.
but in child size.
This game has one of the most uncanny and unsettling graphics I have ever seen. Not just by the great use of this polygonal PS1 style, but the glitch aesthetic builds more than a visual feature, it creates a mechanic. It feels like you are in a place where even walking on a straight line, from here to there, makes you travel dimensions. The way the light and your movement interacts with the materials/textures was amazing. Like at 25:57, this corridor texture feels like it's moving, creating this trippy optical illusion and a strange feeling (everytime he passed through I was like "OH NO, NOT AGAIN"). And that particular sky at 38:30 was truly breathtaking. Really loved this game.
The monster is creepy enough but why does it (she?) walk like its in the middle of a fashion show? I've never seen a horror game monster this sassy before
Probably the only animation he had at the moment
Cause she knows she killed it at being a horror game monster
You read/watch jojo lmao trust me monsters have personality
I would like to think that SHODAN would be just as sassy!
if you watched the prologue of this game called Mothered you'll understand why
Now having seen Mothered, isn't level 1 Liana's grave? And level 3 the barn? That's amazing
Wow you are right!
Wait this is connected to Mothered?
@@Lightwolf234 for what I gather, Red is the AI that gained sentience in Mothered and was repurposed
She says "you can type quit to abandon me" the same command the mother gave multiple times to try abandon 'liana'
Oh my god. How did I not recognize level 3. Thank you!
This really feels like the sequel to Mothered! It's amazing to see the whole story. This feels much different now having seen Mothered
Ye, alas the hop from Daughter to supposedly Red is a long one. Sure we cant be sure how strong the bond to his new Daughter is but if we talk the same AI here, Im sure dad would have had issues with throwing her/it into the blender like this. DaughterAI didnt mind not having a purpose in the end but seemed content with taking whatever that may come her way after merging with the Terminal and THIS game states that Red had to be located. So I assume, if DaughterAI is Red, dad took her/it with him and hunkered down until bullet to the head.
@@NukeClock dude...the dev confirmed its a direct sequel to mothered
@@xRandomCityx Obviously. I didnt argue against that fact at all.
Horror games.
Me: Meh.
Ps1 styled Horror games.
Me: Boi let's do this.
Horror Movies:
Nah.
Horror Books:
Hmm?
Horror Games:
OH YEAH BOI!
There’s something about the vagueness of the graphics that make it scarier than 4K graphics nowadays.
I played ps1 horror games and they didn't look like this
Let’s not. Ps1 styled horror is overrated
Vaporwave-styled makes this game even better
The text may be a little hard to read on small screens or windowed mode for this one, but if you can, then I'd highly recommend checking it out as it's an excellent story....
**Spoilers**
I've done some bad things in video games, but few things have made me feel quite as bad as being complicit in murdering a sentient android consciousness thousands of times!
Damm dude how do you sleep at night?
Then why you do it? You could have quit anytime.
@@maryus786 to find out what happens
@@shookengie370 i’m confused on which A.I. he’s referring too. like any of them ?
We just went through 80s nostalgia, now it's 90s nostalgia's turn I guess.
MikeHawke83 I glad to see this age of the retro themed creativity in indie games
80s nostalgia lasted way too long, I'm glad it finally fucked right off
Every decade they go thirty years back. In 2030 there will be 2000s nostalgia.
@Zoomer Waffen sit down
I'm loving it
Horror games with this kind of retro Ps1 graphics are way scarier than horror games with good graphics.
I kinda am starting to disagree. It's starting to get old.
I talked about this with one of my artist friends. They said it leaves more to the imagination.
I still would like to see this game in its Perfected Graphics of modern technology.
Kind of gives me a Resident Evil PS1 vibe.
100% agree!
Me: oh another horror game, whats this one's gimmick?
> PS1 style
Me: BRING ME MY DUALSHOCK
Noveau Life - New World
Song in the intro
oh geez thank you, i love it
Awesome game! But I think it's funny that the Enigma Corp accidentally invented a sentient AI- an incredible accomplishment- and then were all "nah, we gotta fix this."
Can’t have machines thinking they are human, otherwise they would be demanding rights and protections like a human worker.
Also, after watching "Mothered", it seems the corporation's true objective is to use these sentient androids to "resurrect" dead people, they just want to add the "core" or mental essence of deceased individuals into mechanical bodies, so they may walk again among the living.
An independent AI gaining sentience while ignoring the core that it was programmed to follow after wouldn't be much productive and rather risky.
Ok, I feel ready to bust in Engima and steal Red and off em once and for all. It would be a mercy killing. It's a shame that Engima considered an android thinking for a purpose other than it was programmed to do "undesirable behaviors."
If this is the sequel to Mothered, I kinda want to see what will happen when you ask red about Liana
Love the non-linear quality of the glitchy graphics. This really does feel like a fever dream. Scents of childhood, old tech and video games. Fascination mixed with a feeling of strangeness for discovering a digital world that was far from perfect.
I forcefully exhaled from my nose when you typed "BOBBERT".
“Do you understand?”
“No”
Lmao
Then the ai proceeded to roast em in their attempt to troll lol
man I love the retro ps1 style in horror game.
Same. Watching these type of video from his channel, after a bad day is far enjoyable
you would love manhunter then
I notice that the AI said: ...starting “Simulation”..., right before the screen got too white to read at the beginning. Hmm... 🤔
You are filled with *DECONTAMINATION*
I’m guessing games like clock tower, Dino crisis, the early Resident Evils, parasite eve, silent hill and the more obscure stuff like “hellnight” have finally become retro enough to create a modern homage genre.
Duude! Never thought I'd hear someone mention Hellnight again. :D
I'm not sure what it was, but that game was (and still is) one of the few retro horror games that could make me brown my pants (figuratively speaking, fortunately...)
StressmanFIN Yeah, it was weird af lol.
@@The1of1000 From what I've read folks, the reason it's not so well known is the company that made it, for some reason, decided not to go for wide-spread release; I can guarantee you that it'd sell as much as a copy of "Blood Will Tell" (for reference, last listing I saw said it was $300) due to being so rare.
This is i have no mouth but i must scream but AI hasnt taken over yet and its in 3D
@Freddy Manchild I wasnt talking about AM especially. I was just talking about AI
@Freddy Manchild just forget it. hard for me to explain lol
For some reason, even after having watched your videos for quite some time, I'm still always caught off guard by the name "Bobbert" and it always makes me laugh.
Exploring the "mind" of some form of artificial intelligence is a concept I would never have thought of myself.
It's interesting, to say the least.
This is very trippy to watch when Accidentally falling asleep
I got nightmare when accidentally falling asleep while watching this
oh my. I reconginize the first track kdudvsjs
It's from a vaporwave album called nouveau world
PS1 style + vaporwave = perfection
The inner machinations of my mind are an enigma.
-Patrick Star
(Sorry, just felt like putting this here because thw title reminded me of it.)
Horror, yet nostalgic at the same time. Simplicity at it best.
Look for No Player Online
That vaporwave tho
Look at what you've done, BOBBERT.
Wow im early. But games with this style is such a treat
That theme song that plays during the "Dream Scape demos" part is 100% great.
You know the name of the song?
@@PrinceOfFeels "Start Life" by Nouveau Life™, which sampled "Chardonnay" by Network Music Ensemble
Except for the Bloom effects this is one of the better PS1 styled games. It mimics the dithering and lower poly style well, even if I did see a few textures too high of resolution.
Motion blur too. This type of motion blurriness is only present in PS3/Xbox 360 generation games
The universe reminds me of Memory of a Broken Dimension
this game looks absolutely amazing, and the vaporwave soundtrack gives it a wonderfully perfect atmosphere
That vaporwave intro is amazing!
The fatal error sound was terrifying
That diamond pad reminded me of the great diamond authority touch screen from Steven Universe!
An easy way for a corporation to gain the public's trust is by calling itself something unimposing and simple like ENIGMA
The ending made me so nauseous. Poor Red. A fate worse than death.
Why does red keep rushing at the volunteers so menacingly if it didn’t work the first few times?
me when I saw the thumbnail: his stand... has the ability to erase time!!!
Yay, 100k subs! Im really looking forward to seeing this channel grow.
Okay, this game is one of a few I have to play for myself
I wanna give that poor thing a hug ;-;
the soundtrack is amazing!
This is a treasure ppl are not ready for. Just buy it on steam!!
the scariest thing about this is having to navigate through a hellscape of warped geometry blocking your vision
Really enjoy the changing levels. Very original.
That monster in the thumbnail kinda looks like King Crimson.
It's queen crimson
*KEKKA DAKE DA*
*N-NANI?!*
@Zoomer Waffen no U fuck off
Zoomer Waffen Bro, stop being so toxic, we didn’t even do anything to you.
Why demOs gotta be thicc tho 👀
The motion blur feels kinda out of place with these aesthetics.
Same with the post-process shaders except the jittering moving pixels one. PS1 era games just used baked, animated and regular textures or meshes to achieve lighting effects and horizons that wasted resources using shaders for them here. They were very limited with what they had so, they used their imaginations to express what they wanted us to perceive.
@@coreym162 Good insight, thanks!
Exactly what I thought. PS1 didn't had shaders like that
Really reminds me of Alien. Maybe it’s Ash’s head we’re in?
Looks cool but I hope in the future, people don’t say their game has ps1 as an excuse to have lazy graphics because I can definitely tell the difference between the 2. This game has ps1 graphics and I like that.
Twist is super good, are there other endings?
An epilepsy or brightness warning would be helpful
The graphics warp just like in the old days~
Literalky thought the andriud was...
GOLDEN EXPERIENCE
45:57 - “DOWN DOWN DOWN” _to the bottom of the sea!_
Those glitching visuals is giving me call of duty vibes.
What a fucking excellent game.
You pass butter, Red.
So, the use of volunteers to murder a bot repeatedly. I know we are the volunteer, but what if we **are** the volunteer?
This android is one hell of an enigma
2:47 i though dilema by Nelly started playing
At the end, I noticed a red and green reflection in the floor in front of the Simon machine by the gramophone. Is there an alternate ending there if you enter another code?
I believe that was part of level 2's code, the third painting
Looks like a Bioshock "debug" room.
Bullet: *Hits the broken wall.*
Broken Wall: ATAAAAAAACK!
I love these types of games
This was great and Im super excited to see more.
You're doing REally GREaT... REGRET...
Whys the music so good ...
I played this on Switch , and its similar , but worse because the graphics are almost too glitched to even see at times . I also walked straight through a wall on level 4 and fell infinitely through a starfield . It took me almost 10 minutes to figure out if this was part of the game or not lol .
i think the dev should lock the fps to 30 or 24 for a better "ps1" experience, and i think i saw a bit of motion blur and depth of field, maybe turning those off will grant a better experience
it still looks cool tho
Great game. So, what if you quit when she asks you?
how come these graphics sometimes look better than modern day graphics?
@Shank Adams they do to me, like it looks somewhat real and the detail is surprisingly good for an old fashioned game. maybe it's just like that to make the game more spooky tho. also what's gpu?
@@mnbuni8065 it's shading. This game probably runs on modern engine like Unreal engine. It's a old aesthetic game with modern traits
Awesome Game.
It's a bit like Push or Don't push the Button.
Man, some of that warping is absurd. You should get your PSX checked out...
i remember you said once you were color blind....
i love the text music i wish they realse it as a track
They need to bring the PS1 style back as a permanent art-style, in my opinion... it has a certain appeal and really brings you back to a better time in gaming
Remember when ps1 games had depth of field?
Wow. That was cool.
Im pretty sure the android just want delicious milk
I wonder if the creator of this game is an MGS/Ghost in the shell fan.
I like the elevator music when you go on the terminal.
Oh PS1 how I missed you so.
27:36 Can you believe it? You've already finished C.
So this is basically "System Defragment" on a wimpy computer then?
lmfao "wimpy computer", check the excess shaders this game has
Long time no seen, Demo Scene!
Oh look another PS1 styled horror game, surely this fresh trend will never grow old
nigma please, the "PS1 style" covers all sorts of aesthetics and allows for people to do a lot with story and gameplay without having to worry about graphics very much
It's better and seems to take more effort that just doing a "retro" style with pixels or trying to go for realism and falling flat cause you lack the budget
This is not scary. This is philosophical.
Adore this game
When you don't have time to see the whole video so you have no real comment but you have to say something
0:55 *that doesn't listen to its
lol. Bobbert.
Oh I wish there was a game called chat 99 or something or a horror game (inside a game rom or something) and there is a chat that looks like this
I would have quit my job as a R.A.D.E.....
