    Thank you for sharing how you clean your strainers and get the air out of the lines!

    well. hi there. i am using jacuzzi bromine tablets for AC strainer and it will help you a lot . the strainer always clean and no way the barnacle will build up . you have to add 5 pics in side the strainer and it will stay for about two weeks
    this is for your information
    best regards

      Thanks for the tip. I actually was using them in the past as well. They do a great job of getting rid of barnacle build up and living organisms. I stopped using it when we moved the boat up into a freshwater river. The growth that is in there is more "slimy" than the typical growth we saw in salt water the tablets don't seem to help it out as much here. I am glad you raised this for others however as it is a GREAT suggestion and solution in most cases.

    I'm thinking a drain plug at the bottom of the container or maybe a turkey baster to suck the nasty water out would be a way to make sure less of the "funk" made its way down the line ??

    How do you clean the lines downstream of the strainer?

    • @Svdreamchaser
      @Svdreamchaser  5 лет назад +1

      +nobody46820 The flushing spigot I installed allows me to connect pressure water (either dock or wash down pump) and close all upstream valves and the water flushes backward through pump and out the strainer and the intake line.
      I don’t often clean that direction but likely should.
      I can also close all valves, put a small shop vac output on the opening of the strainer and open the Sealock, I hear bubbles below the boat knowing it cleared the line of water. I have seen a dirty cloud in the water when I have done that as well.

      @@Svdreamchaser Ah, just water? No cleaning solutions of any kind?

    • @Svdreamchaser
      @Svdreamchaser  5 лет назад +1

      Yes I don’t often do the cleaning solution the other way. I guess if I used the output of vacuum and cleared the lines of water, I could shut off the seacock while the air was going through ultimately leaving it empty then pour a solution in slowly to fill the line and let it sit for a while. That would likely work but I haven’t tried that before. The harder way would be to take the hose off and soak it in a bucket of solution.
      I am curious what you have done or what the outcome is if you try something different this can be a cool way to share ideas

      @@Svdreamchaser Nice! I've run pigs through my pipes. This gets them really clean. You can use pressurized air/water to drive the pig through the pipe(s). I've also used a plumber's water blaster.

    I don't know what river you are on...but man it's gross.

      Capt Larry - agreed. It isn't the clear blue water and beaches of white sands we were hoping for at sone point. :)
