Beautiful images Russell M81 was my favourite, I know you were not keen but I loved it. I Would be more than happy if any of those images were mine. Nice little video mate!
Really nice job Russell. It is a great camera! It’s shows the importance of taking flat frames with those dust spots, but you pulled it back well, nice shot of bodes!
Great images Russell, I liked them all very much, even the Bode's no-flat image lol. Sky Safari Pro can tell you the distance of all those galaxies, but it's not free. It's like $20, not sure what that is in Pounds.
Hey Russell! I just found your channel. Instant subscribe ofc!. Thanks for this video! I just made a video on finding out the details on the background galaxies using tools like Aladin. I think you might find the answer to your question on the distances there - although I must admit I don't know how to read the data yet, so let me know if you find out ;) Regarding my favorite image, I think the first pleases me the most. In it, also a big number of distant background galaxies are visible. For instance around the bright star between the Owl and the Surfboard. Wonderful!
Thank you very much Martin and thanks for the sub! I’ll check out your video now :) I agree the first image is my favourite as well! That’s for watching really appropriate it :)
Great images! Well done! If you have Stellarium, you can add PGC objects through the Sky and Viewing panel (F4), then DSO, then click PGC checkbox. Be sure to save your settings if needed next time you start up. :)
Just found your channel and love your calm, supportive approach. I have a decent image of Bodes Nebula (20 hours of data), but didn’t get any of the blue color you show in your image. Was that color part of your post processing?
Thank you very much Joseph, so glad you're enjoying the videos. Yes, I think I was able to bring out the blue in post processing, to be honest it was a while ago now, so I can't remember the full processing but I'm sure I would have increased the blue in PixInsight. I'm also colourblind, so I do often have some strange colours in some of my images without knowing... I wouldn't use my images as reference for your editing 😂
Hi Russell! Great shots. A few quesito I may... How do you stack your lights/ Flats and how many of each? You didn’t mention Darks. Do you stack them too? How many? Cheers, Clear skies
Hi Paulo, thank you. I use PixInsight to stack my images and flat frames. Usually as many lights as I can get, the more the better. With flats I use my iPad a tshirt to create a flat panel and take 30 frame. I use the ASIAIR which has an auto exposure which seems to work well. With the 2600mc pro there’s no amp glow so I haven’t bother with dark frames for that camera.
@@RussellsAstrophotography many thanks for your quick answer. I do use an ASIAIR PRO myself, which I’m very pleased with. Just getting into astrophotography now at 66... lol, lots to learn. Cheers PauloF
Thanks both, I’ve been so impressed with the 2600mc. I wasn’t expecting to have any usable data but they turned out ok. You should give it a go :) clear skies
Great images, Russell! It shows again as to how good the Sky-Watcher 190MN actually is. As a beginner on a budget, I still did not invest yet in a proper astro-camera like your ASI2600MC Pro, but at least, I know now what can be accomplished with this awesome Mak-Newt, if tracking & guiding is managed well and the applied wide-field camera comprises enough pixels per arc-second. I am so happy with my choice to buy this scope last year, even if it seemed too expensive for me then. I still am limited to my old Pentax *ist dl DSLR-camera with only 6 MP and a cheap copy of the ZWO ASI 120 MC-S, but still, they do the job to the best of their ability.
Thanks Guido, the skywatcher 190MN is a fantastic telescope, I’ve been so impressed with it. I go some great images with my Sony camera before switching to an Astro camera :)
@@RussellsAstrophotography This is so great about this hobby: we do not feel like competitors in a game, but like buddies who try to help one another. I know that I can also get impressive images if I continue to invest effort, so I do not feel intimidated by any feat that more experienced people, like yourself, are showing me. On the contrary, these accomplishments direct me into the most adequate direction and educate me, whilst I gather my own experience, step by step. I do not have to compete here. There will always be someone else (probably a lot more than just one) that came further than I ever will achieve. The important thing is to enjoy the hobby while conducting it in any way. Hi Russel! I luv that image of Bodes Galaxy! beautiful blue colours! Probably my fave Bodes image i seen so far mate! Thanks! Wes, Liverpool, UK.
Thank you very much Wesley, appreciate it
Got some lovely data there Russell especially like you say with the moon illumination.
Thanks very much Ollie. I was really surprised by how well the data turned out
Lovely images Russell! - my fave shot was the owl and surfboard, I love the sense of scale at play in it :)
Thanks very much Luke. That's definitely my favourite shot as well :) thanks for watching
Nice shots.. especially with the moon out. I'm always conflicted on those clear moonlit nights as to what to target.
Thank you. Yes I normally wouldn’t shoot broadband with such a bright moon, but thought I’d give it a go. Happy I did :)
Another great video Russell and some really good images. For me the best one was the owl and surfboard. Well done 👏
Thank you very much Paul. Yes that’s definitely my favorite image as well. Thanks for watching 👍

Thanks very much Simon. Yes definitely shows the importance of flat frames...I’ve got no idea why I didn’t take them 🤦♂️
Very nice images Russell. I was also shocked at how many tiny galaxies were in the background of one of my images when I tried the annotate tool too.
Thanks very much Logan. I run most of my images through the annotate tools now, it’s fascinating

That's great! I've been wondering how my setup would work under a bright moon. I've got a 2600MC Pro with a 250mm f/4.

Is the MM version worth the extra work and money ??
In my opinion yes. It all depends if you want to put the extra time and money into the hobby thought over the OSC. I hope this helps.
Did you use an UV/IR cut?
