  • Full breakdown of my current 2nd Year Masters of Architecture project. This was the work that I produced for my final crit for semester 1. The project begins with a body of research into mechanical movements of a tower crane, through drawing abstractions and concept models. This research continued into our site Antwerp, Belgium when I explored the movement of container vessels at a world, europe and Antwerp scale. Zooming further into the Port of Antwerp and the logistics of the port and wider network with europe.

      As an architecture student myself i think i really lack the presentation skills and a video about it can really help me or any other struggling with same. So please a short video on them🙏

    Congratulations, I follow your work here from Manaus /Amazonas - Brazil. Because here in my city there is a port without infrastructure that pollutes the entire front of the city.

    Great thought process and output...we're normally our harshest critics, what you see as unfinished and bad i see as great presentation and execution despite it being still at conceptual phase...i really like the way you conceptualize and present your ideas...Brilliant!!! Cant wait to see the end product!

      absolutely, sometimes it’s hard to talk through work that is ‘unfinished’ but it’s important to take stock of the work at different stages of the project. thanks a lot for your kind words 🙏🏼

    Great visuals for this dynamic project, Thomas! I think the clarity of the narrative from small scale movement, to site-wide scale movement is strong. And like you said it's a work-in-progress, I'd say this is a great place to be. One thing I'd be critical on is how you are going to handle the narrative of placing program on the site, where I think you should incorporate the same principles of movement. Thanks, that's all. Really enjoy your videos🔥

      thank you for the comment, i appreciate your kind words! absolutely, i’m at a point where i need to take full ownership of the chosen site and program and tie it into the narrative of movement and logistics, this is still at a very early point of the project but lots to think about 🙏🏼

    great video! How did you do the motion analysis of the crane, was it manual or did you use a software?

    Being honest your graphical skills are very good. Your models are cool aesthetically but I don't like your concept, I think it's superficial. It's not rooted in the sites historical context as cranes are a modern innovation. Where's the architecture?

    • @ThomasRowntree
      @ThomasRowntree  Год назад +2

      i appreciate your comment and i think it’s a valid point. this body of work is primarily research into a specific movement and how that movement could relate to the site. it isn’t at a point where I have began to think deeply about the concept or even the design itself. portfolio 2 will respond to the site’s historical, social and cultural context.
