I'm glad to have seen them twice before they got massively popular. Wintersleep is an awesome band, even better live! At least, their shows rocked in the small venue I saw them in. I'm looking forward to seeing them in September, if I can. :)
i agreee cousin dearest:) even the fact that there third album is so main stream bothers me. i listened to them when they were nothing and there music is just pure genius. its amazing.
It came true when I saw them live. Surrounded by sweaty drunk people who wouldn't let you stand up. I waited forever to see them, only to get annoyed enough to move back because I couldn't breath nor stand up. Most of them weren't fans and weren't there to enjoy but to get shitfaced. Thanks guys.
i love how people are fighting back on my comments from when I was a teen bitching about being knocked under by drunks. I've come to learn it's just that university. they enjoy to drink $4 beer till they get kicked out by security and listen to music they don't enjoy and tell the band they suck. I guess we should get them nickelback or lil wayne for them to enjoy themselves sober. gotta love the bros.
I rather them not get over played, and over obsessed. It makes their music much more enjoyable when people aren't screaming at their concerts, professing their love to Paul's voice, or Loel drumming away. I hate going to concerts where I can't even see the band because I'm pushed to the back by obsessed fans who probably don't understand the lyrics.
I don't like it when people look at a band being popular as a terrible thing. You shouldn't try to be popular just to be popular, but if you end up being popular anyway, how is it a bad thing?
They seemed shocked that anyone even remembered this song when i shouted for it back at mono in oslo 3-4 years ago, why? (they didnt play it cause they havent played it for ages it seemed) I think its a great song and it amazes me that they still havent added it to their setlist :-/
The Joel Plaskett show I went to I was up front, and I was just enjoying the music, but I was surrounded by die hards pushing me away from the front. I had a death grip on the bar so I wouldn't loose my place. I'm a short person, I can't see the band or hear them farther back because bodies are like sound proofing.
i just see at as a bad thing to when it comes down to concert viewing for me. Once you get the crazy obsessive fans who "love" the band members and shout it not even as a joke, then concert attending isn't so much about the music, but how big of a fan you are.
@noelle1989 They came to my university and I was sure to get tickets to see them! :D The drinkers were behind a barricade behind us, so just sweaty creepy people left and people who got drunk beforehand XD Had this one weirdo who said I was there only for the percentages and kept trying push a girl I was with. Saw Wintersleep in Berlin, was very dissappointed by the amount of noiseniking. It displays a deep lack of musicianship. They have the odd good song but for most of the set decended into atonal guitar trashing etc. boring!
