    Have done summer time outdoor shows but always used a pop-up tent... still had moisture build up inside blisters that were in direct sunshine... Sad to see all the damage to "$$$$" cars😢

    For anyone out there that collects anything. In package or not.....keep the area you have your stuff in cool and curtains closed. Only open curtains and blinds while you are in the room and preferably when sun isn't on those windows. I have seen sun fade anodized parts on vintage rc cars, ruin tires, etc.

    That really sucks!! At least the cars weren’t damaged. I think they look awesome loose. Cool sad video! 👋

    I’m sorry that happened man. They are some loose collectors out there and I’m sure eventually they’ll sell for a reduced price. Thanks for sharing because I’m definitely going to think twice about where I store my treasured cars. Have a good one man again I hate that happened to you brother. 👊✌️

    We were on a boat in Cabo San Lucas, and I had my film Leica on a seat with the lens aimed to the sky, no lenscap. It took 20 minutes to burn a 1/8” hole in its precious cloth shutter, and three months to repair by a specialist for $500!!! I just bought a portion of someone’s collection of Classics, loose and in a craft case. All of them have metal bases, Diecast body, Spectraflame paint and fast plastic wheels. Yes, there’s no card art, but I find these far nicer than todays STHs. Most of us never find STHs due to pallet raiders and store inside deals. I would be extremely thankful I had as many as you do.

    Thank you for the info and that is a huge bummer. You are correct the plastic is getting cheaper and cheaper as time goes on and I imagine that's why some of the older ones held up a lot better. You did the right thing by opening those just so the tires don't get ruined on the cars. As far as open supers people will definitely buy them, most people that collect are open collectors anyway and I think you will not have any problems selling those for the right price. That sucks about your misfortune but like you said you paid a buck for them, if you get $20 a piece for an open super you made out brother. If not they go into your loose collection, so either way it's a win win situation.

    1st off that sucks but If they were mine I would have used acetone to carefully remove the bad blisters so the card is preserved. Then carefully remove a usable matching blister from another mainline. Then finally attach the new blister to the old card. Still awesome that you opened them though. Thanks for sharing and have a great rest of your weekend 😃👍👍🤙

    I agree with you, crack them. Definitely enjoy a nice mint card with cool card art. But they also look nice loose. Those colors do pop when out of the blister.

      @stevesurfaro 4 месяца назад +2

      @bsea35 so right. I never understood collectors that refuse to open their carded diecast, and basically just look at them. You’re missing the use with large dioramas, diecast racing or just learning about the unique features.

  • @GTTorino69
    @GTTorino69 4 месяца назад +1

    Oh man that sucks!! I’d bust them out of the blisters and sell them as loose for slightly lower prices. There are a lot of people that open everything they buy so the damaged card wouldn’t matter to them. You could also just leave them sealed and sell them at reduced prices.

    Enjoy the models you open and add to your collection! I am of the belief a diecast car collector will buy these loose or on damaged cards. A collectibles enthusiast will miss out on these. I always downgrade our eBay listings to be conservative. I want to avoid the buyer that wants perfect cardboard.

    Seems like the "glass case" wasn't the problem. It was letting them sit in the sun for awhile before you caught notice was the problem. That was the 1st mistake that was made. Seems like a rookie mistake for being a long time collector. 😅. So now you know, if outside to keep them under some shade. Sun exposure will also fade/change colors. We live and learn. Most of us anyway. Nice collection. 🤑

    That sucks man. I'm sorry. I've never done a show yet but an outdoor show I think I wouldn't do it with my cars exposed in the sun. I'm NOT being that guy that insults other collectors. I keep mine away from the elements. This helps me with which protectors to get though. Thank you Rollin EZ. Weird to see some of those blisters kinda "Jiffy Pop".

  • @chrisprice8053

    i would use nail polish remover and take the blister off and replace it with a good 1 . keep for yourself or sell at a discount price . just let the person know it not the original blister. i would buy for sure. i have got cars that this has been done to and to be honest if done right you cant tell at all. that is if card did not get killed. sometimes you can repair the card also

    For me - Toys are meant to be used - not stay sealed in the box purely as investment items. I feel the same way about real cars - exotic cars like Ferrari's, etc - which go straight from the factory into dry storage and never get driven. To me this is a shame. Things are designed to be used. Everything degrades over time. I think you should open every one of those packages and if you are not going to play with them - donate them to a nursery or some place where children can enjoy them - like it's supposed to be.

      Interesting comment. I have always thought about what you are saying but as a true collector I would love to buy a un driven car that was stored for 10 + years and I would not even drive it at all . That is just me and my preference. Don’t get me wrong I have no kids and do not plan on selling anything. But myself would like the best I can afford. And enjoy what I have accomplished. Stay EZ 😎
