  • As the 2019 MLB Trade Deadline neared, former Cleveland Indians P Trevor Bauer was the talk of the baseball world. Every day, there was a new rumor, a new city, a new team, and a new trade that was supposed to be a "done deal." Then, on July 30th, it all became a reality. In a dizzying three-team trade, Bauer was sent to his new team, the Cincinnati Reds. In a flurry of emotions and movement, Bauer had us follow him every step of the way to show just what it's like being THE blockbuster trade in the middle of a competitive season. This is -- Traded: A Documentary.

    As a Yankees fan this is very touching. I hated Bauer in the 2017 ALDS but over the last 2 years of following him on Twitter and Instagram, he's such a unique player. Moneyball painted a pretty good picture of how it looks when players get traded, but this video captures it from the players perspective. Once you step off that mound, you're back to being a regular person. Flying on a plane with regular people, taking the subway. It's not all fancy jets and cars like people think. Walking into the new stadium clueless, like a freshman in high school. Almost moved me to tears. I wish the best for Bauer for the remainder of this season and his career.

    Thanks for making this clip, Trevor. I love watching the behind the scenes stuff fans normally don’t get to see. Reminds me of my days working for the Marlins and Astros with daily clubhouse access. Miss that world. And there is nothing better than taking a few minutes to sit silently in a dugout and stare at the diamond and reflect on the love of the game. You’re a good dude.

    The only game I saw Bauer pitch was his first career and only CG shutout for the Indians. Dominant effort, though against a struggling team, he controlled the game throughout. It was a pretty scorecard to say the least. Though slightly rain soaked, Trevor registered 5 perfect innings, ZERO walks, and only 4 hits allowed; once stranding a lead off triple no-less. What a game.

    Cool to see the behind the scenes like this. Most of us as fans probably dont think about the human aspect of how trades affect players. Must be crazy to work for the Indians one day then Reds the next. New team, ballpark, city, teammates. As a Reds fan glad to have him.

  • @detroitrockcity8

    This is a GREAT look into a player of his status and caliber, and how they go through their first major mid-season trade. You could clearly tell his passion and love for the Indians, fans and the city. It’s what makes it hard in this part of the business but it also makes you appreciate the person more from what they may not openly show on the field. Reminds us that many of these athletes have a bigger picture/scope that’s well beyond and above them. From a lifetime Detroit Tigers fan and Braves fan, good luck in Cincy!

      @@Jake-rc4ws You clearly have no idea what you are talking about. 2018 was Trev's breakout season. Prior to 2018, he was up and down. One start he looked like a CY candidate and the next he looked like an AA spot starter. His biggest flaw has been his lack of consistency. His stuff still appears to be there this season but like a lot of pitchers this year his home runs given up have shot back up and is now at a career high.

    • @ileaddeaths
      @ileaddeaths 4 года назад

      Jake pretty dumb comment. I’m not necessarily talking about Trevor. The biggest example I’m talking about is David Hernandez of the Reds this year. He had one trainwreck of a month...so basically ending his long career.

      Rednecn35 - honestly I think players need our support instead of constant badgering them. Especially Reds fan, some of the things they say to him on Twitter are pretty nasty. Imagine having a shit game, and having to step on the home mound of thousands of badgering assholes. It’s bullying, like he says with Scooter Gennett. I mean, it’s so bad that he publicly posts about donating, which he does weekly, and people will even harass him that he doesn’t donate enough. Sad

I know the fans in Cincy will be just as enamored as WE were in Cleveland, how could they not? Go get'em and show 'em what you got! I will follow your career no matter where you end up!

    The sport needs more, and more videos like this one. Trevor Bauer seems like one of the guys who could lead the sport with his vivacious personality and blunt demeanor. The MLB is behind the NFL and NBA, largely because the sport doesn't market its players (and neither do the players themselves for the most part). If they want to build the game the personalities need to be showcased more and guys like Bauer could lead the charge.

    You’re such a badass, TB, and I hope Momentum blows up. I heard about Momentum when you were on Ross Stripling’s podcast. I’m a lifelong Dodgers fan, but have been a huge fan of yours since I heard your first interview where I didn’t get the same old scripted answers. Ppl like you are the future of baseball. Without adaptation, baseball is dead. Well, maybe not dead, but it’s not as healthy as it should be because it’s the best game in the world. Keep it up, and hope to see you in Dodger blue next year. You’d be such a good fit in my humble opinion. ♥️⚾️🇺🇸

    if you heard bauer speak about the bs astros incident and how the mlb dealt with it, you'll understand why bauer got traded. he's the realest baseball player i've ever seen. he's so passionate about the game, and takes his role as pitcher very seriously, i'm 100% certain his passion is what got him traded. as someone this talented doesn't randomly get traded like that.
