People will start becoming either ranging from neutral-friend-bestfriend/love. Sacrifice a bit of morality for the sake of the greater good I'd say.
Another big thing to note is that you don't even really need to rack up the taxes, I made over 140K just from working maxed at the blacksmith 5-6 chains at 10x multipliers. Hit the forge, after all, your army is going to need blades for the up-coming fight and someone needs to craft them anyway! Use that money to repair houses along with whats left over going in the treasury. If you're willing to be patient you can easily have the 8.5 million (I'm guessing the extra 2 million is for edicts? I have the game paused right now on my decision for this very scene) before you even hit the first day's edicts.
This is actually sad. I've never seen his execution scene before. And now I have.... 11 years after the game came out!!!! I honestly wanted him to live even after all he'd done. Guess that shows how benevolent I was.
I managed to raise a shit ton of money throughout the game and it covered every good choice I made without leaving the kingdom bankrupt. No promises were broken and we made it through the darkness no problem.
What I don't understand is that why can't these mfs citizens wait??? I mean we're preparing soldiers to fight darkness incarnate for god's sake. We need the money for those resources. Can't they just wait until the darkness is defeated ....after that is done we will keep the promises. I mean what's the use of making me pay for all those health services and education stuff if the darkness kills u because I didn't have any money left to protect u
I lost the saved file for my first playthrough, in which I spared him, so when I restarted my brother dared me to have him killed. We both felt like utter shit after this scene. He happened to point out; you only get a wide shot of him, but Logan looks very much frightened. And then I pointed out that he's only 25 years old. That didn't help. So yeah, I'm always gonna pardon him from now on.
I may not have agreed with many things Logan has done, but Page did kind of convince me that killing him wouldn't be the answer. And then I heard his story and I held down that A button.
Am I the only one here who thinks Logan made his decisions with the best intentions? Hear me out, he faced the Darkness and knows what the danger will be when it comes to Albion. Firstly, he needed to gather resources from Albion (Sabine) to make the fortifications. Secondly, he halted unnecessary expenses (Brightwall Academy, Helping Aroura) to conserve. Thirdly, as shown in our reign, dispite that Reaver is plain despicable and the reason Oakvale no longer exists - bit of a personal grudge here - he knows how to make money. Granted, its through less than desireable ways it proves to be effective. Child Labor, draining Bower Lake are great ways to get the resources in a hurry (Page). All and all, I think with a bit more stricter rules Logan could fought the Darkness off.
I agree fully. It's pretty hard to keep your promises in game and have 6.5+ mil in treasury. I couldn't execute him either but still. Cool intentions, still murder.
+rayhagele Like Logan himself said "what are you willing to sacrifice to do the right thing?" The problem is he sacrificed TOO much and as a result, he became equal or even worse than the Crawler.
And for killing your romantic interest in the beginning of the game? How was that decision for the benefit of Albion? (Everyone seems to forget that he did this)
Because Swift was going to help the rebellion and the rebellion would be a larger problem because he had to focus on the darkness. I think Logan intentions were good and remain good. But most of the people here are actually just here to see what happens to him.
I saved every person from the darkness and kept every promise however many guards were sacrificed so I could have a serrated sword, red tattoos and black wings XD
The classic “The ends justify the means” mentality. Regardless if it was necessary it is that thought process that allows one to commit atrocities with a blink
Yep. If you haven't read "The Gulag Archipelago" yet, you should. It's a brutal read, showcasing some of the worst atrocities, but it really highlights how ideology allows people to justify anything.
Logan is so truthful with mercy in this, and yet he suffers, and the fact he choses to hand all of his soldiers to you is awesome, I'm glad I saved him tho
I'm yeaaaaars late and just got around to the game a few days ago, I actually had to look up this option after finishing the game with like no townsfolk and hella debt.. going to play through again and not be such a screw up leader
the thing is, this part is one of those decisions that's all in the relatively grey area. sure he did what he thought was best, but the immense cruelty and damage he did could be seen as inexcusable. ...why the hell he didn't say why he was doing it earlier i don't know XD
Probably to not cause widespread panic among the people, to have them live in fear for years. Or maybe they'd think he's lying cuz it would be years before the Crawler came and people wouldn't know that it was real and unwilling to work
People would probably still expect their problems to be solved and you to just figure it out and have the cost passed on to someone else. People are far more generous when it’s not their money being used. Plus you gotta think about wide spread panic, if something as apocalyptic as the darkness is coming why not look out for your own neck and worry about yourself? Also, if even a season veteran like Walter doesn’t really realize what you’re fighting when you see them, I think it’s likely that the darkness is from so long ago that people might not even believe you and ignore your warnings and demand their problems take precedence.
I feel as though this confrontation would be a lot more meaningful if more time was put into Logan’s complexities. I would have loved if they delved deeper into the idea of how after witnessing the “Darkness” firsthand and being the labeled by his peers as a paranoid fool when he tried to warn the kingdom, Logan succumbed to his demons, and has gone mad over protecting his home, not matter how many heads have to roll. Also, the final boss should have been much more unique, and not just a Sentinel fight with a “Walter” skin
Hold on, theresa guided logan down this path, the same way she guided the hero. She knew logan would stop at nothing if everything he cared about was threatened, and by extension, she knew that his little sibling would follow in his footsteps. Was she the villain after all? Manipulating her little brother's descendants into corrupting albion so it's screwed whether they end up tyrants or not? What's her end goal? She's already gained possession over the spire. Is she worried that if the people of albion are strong enough, they could band up and destroy the spire again? Or maybe she wants to recreate the first wish, and she needs albion to be in the same spot as it was the first time to get it right. ... If that's the case, the fable reboot could absolutely be a sequel, set in a time where albion has regrown from the last wish, but once again is still suffering the consequence, therefore being in the exact same spot as the original fable, just thousands of years in the future
She does guide you but she never chooses for you, it is always you who is given the choice between good and evil, Logan had that same choice as well. She warned Logan of the darkness, and he chose to be harsh in order to protect Albion, which isn't necessarily Theresa's fault. It's like how she warned the Hero of Oakvale that he would one day have to choose between the darkness and the light, she warns him of a great decision, but it's ultimately his choice to be good or evil, not hers. Like how it was Logan's choice to be harsh, or to be benevolent. I think she just wants to keep Albion from being destroyed, but you have to remember that she is kind of crazy, as we see if Fable 1.
My biggest gripe with this game's plot is Logan's actions....not his taxation and mis-treatment of the people (hear me out) but for hiding his reasons: 1) Logan is a hero, maybe not as great a hero as the Prince, but he has hero's blood running in his veins all the same. His father was a great king as well, so this in itself would lend credit to his words. We also know Logan spent time abroad and all of these heinous actions only started after one particular expedition....where Logan came back missing quite a few men. This is something I would expect Walter, Swift or the Prince(ss) would've heard about. At the very least, SOMEONE should've connected the dots here and asked why he was mistreating his subjects. 2) Logan didn't have to expressly state that 'a great monster is coming to destroy Albion'. He could've easily said there was a foreign power mustering an army and that sacrifices would have to be made to prepare Albion for war. This isn't a blatant lie, bringing citizens from Aurora to corroborate his story would have easily made it seem far more believable. 3) Logan expressly says that he did what must be done to save Albion....yet not once does he ever stop to consider any other alternatives it seems. He never even lets his own flesh and blood in on this, whom could have helped him. Nor Walter, whom is portrayed as a great strategist, same with Major Swift whom clearly had the loyalty of Albion's old military. Any of these figures could have offered him advice, after all they were capable of mustering a resistance to overthrow his kingdom from a collection of little more than angry peasants, the remnants of the old military and foreigners already terrified for their lives across the ocean. As soon as he knew there was a resistance forming against him and that it was gaining any kind of ground, he should have (once again) EXPLAINED his actions.
Rixoli remember that Theresa who personally saw Logan like us, indirectly, but purposely guided him to do all this because as she puts it "the course of history demands it"
Film Mations "The course of history demands it" But why? Logan's actions would have likely been DRASTICALLY different if Theresa had approached him before that expedition. She has the capability to stop time and/or pull people into alternate dimensions and/or dream states....not taking her seriously would've been idiotic at worst and worthy of the prince stepping up 4 years earlier at best. Theresa's actions needlessly endangered all of Albion "Because prophecy"? On top of this, Theresa had all that time up she spent baiting the prince(ss) along until they rushed to Aurora to see that things were incredibly dire there. Even THEN, somewhere along that journey she could have warned him of "The Great Evil" present.....yet never did so.
Rixoli your own hero questions it, and Theresa basically says "idfk, i saw that this was the future and guess who was right? Everything that lead up to now was you and your brothers fault not mine"
Film Mations Except it was explicitly HER and your brother's fault. Logan acted like a total douche canoe, there is no doubt there. Yet Theresa knew in advance there was a chance that very bad things were about to befall Albion. She warned Logan immediately upon his return that the Crawler was coming and that he would need to be ready within 5 year's time. She had 4 years to warn you, the Prince(ss) whom is the only other living being of Hero blood alive. Even if for no other reason than to help people feel comfortable about his actions...yet she did nothing. She sat with her thumbs up her rear and did nothing to stop the death of 6.1 million people.
Rixoli oh yeah, tell an early teen the prophecy about a horde of darkness is gonna come by in half a decade and that you will have to to specifically screw over your brother and take his place then decide the ultimata fate of your kingdom saving 6.5 million people, no stress there.
you know what? i kind of feel bad for the guy, i mean like, he unintentionally made his people suffer just so he could save them, he only wanted what was best, then he gets the execution command from his brother then gets executed be getting shot by 10 rifles
@@valoxiii422 Swift sold information of the army to the rebels that would cause a war against the army, killing a lot of soldiers and people of Albion, then he would've to find new soldiers to fight the darkness which would cost even more money that you'd have to mine fore resources and start child labour
Actually the part of this scene that annoyed me the most is that it reminds me that in yet another Fable game, they don't let me kill Reaver. As for Logan, his only defense is that he was shown just enough by Theresa to set him on this destructive path, making his crimes partially her fault. But that doesn't absolve him of his own guilt. He set the slimiest, cruelest man in Albion (Reaver) in charge of most of the economy. Every time someone tries to talk sense into Logan, he sees it as treason and has them executed. He even forces his brother to choose between his girlfriend and starving peasants, deciding who Logan will execute. His every decision raises money for an army, but crushes the people, destroying the kingdom before the Crawler has a chance to. Logan is criminally insane, and he has committed crimes against the people of Albion. The only injustice in his execution is that Reaver isn't there next to him in front of the firing line.
Logan is no hero, nor is he the man who was right for the job. However, knowing full well what was coming, he made those choices, choices he likely wouldn't have made otherwise, with what he thought was the greater good in mind. Faced with the imminent destruction of his kingdom, his homeland, he was willing to make those horrible choices only because he likely saw it all as a harsh, but necessary means to an end. He put Reaver in charge because Reaver was a vicious, but effective businessman. He forced his own people to live harsh lives because he felt everything had to go towards preparing for war. And I feel that the reason he made his own brother choose between the lives of a few starving peasants and his girlfriend was to try to "help" his brother understand what it meant to be a king, and that sometimes, you have to make harsh decisions. I don't feel any of that excuses him of his crimes, but understanding the why behind his actions is important, if only to learn that the "greater good" can sometimes drown an entire country in its own blood before the enemy even has a chance to strike.
TheMazrem "The greater good" is one of the most dangerous arguments out there. It is nothing more than an excuse to do terrible things. No quarter should be given for this intent. Hitler thought he was improving the human genepool by killing non "aryan" people, and Logan's atrocities against his own people (both through his direct orders, and those from Reaver, whom he put in power) are no better. What is Albion worth if it is reduced to nothing more than an impoverished, diseased, crime-infested, slavery-supporting hellhole? Throughout our real-world history, several countries have adopted a total-war economy successfully in times of need, and it was nothing like what Logan did to Albion.
***** Reaver was a pirate who got everything he had through murder and treachery. Most of his resources in Fable 3 are only his because Logan imprisoned their owner and gave the resources to Reaver (as revealed in the Traitors' Keep DLC).
I challenge your opinion with the introduction of Reaver. Not only did he appear in the previous game but he has such a laid-back sarcastic personality that makes me chuckle.
Mckenzie .Latham I actually took my time and worked everything out, I went to a few demon doors and got a solid million, along with buying every store and just waiting till I had enough money. Then I kept all my promises.

well.. during that time period the most breastplates are to intimidate enemies or look good they are not used as protection. Especially not against guns.
well like i wrote to someone earlier, they are mostly for show not to protect :P But of course if theres enough thick metal plates they could deflect projectiles
As everyone is saying, at the time of the musket, metal armour had gone out of fashion as most of it could not stop black powder projectiles. Most armour used was merely ceremonial - just for pomp and decoration. Royal guards and royals alike often donned ceremonial cuirasses as fashionable pieces of attire rather than for their defensive properties. If the cuirass was made of a sufficient depth/thickness of metal sheeting then perhaps it could stop a musket ball, however, they would be extremely heavy. Given that Logan wears/wore that thing everyday, I think it is safe to say it is just a lighter ceremonial piece of armour.
Man, seeing Logan’s reaction to being put to death is genuinely heartbreaking. Sure, he was a complete dick and some of his actions were unnecessary, at least he did them somewhat out of care (could have done without him making me kill Elise so we could better understand how monarchy works but hey ho). Still, he did what he could to protect Albion. He wasn’t evil, he was dumb and misguided. And plus, imagine the despair that runs through your body when you are straight up told you are going to die and have no way out. And imagine how worse it is when your own younger brother is the one ordering your head. Logan may have been abit of a dick, but he doesn’t deserve this. I’ll pardon him everytime.
How could you kill him!? He was so sexy and such an awesome ruler. Ok... fine. He was a little cruel but c'mon. It was only because of the crawler and he wanted to protect you. (Sibling relationship ;P) He had to do what he had to do. And like he says, "What sacrifices are you willing to make to do the right thing?" *Huggles Logan's ankles tightly while crying.*

in 2017 it is still one of my favourite games. and i don`t know why i always felt bad executing him, he is your brother even though he done some very bad things he is your bro.
Like Logan himself said "what are you willing to sacrifice to do the right thing?" The problem is he sacrificed TOO much and as a result, he became equal or even worse than the Crawler. I'd rather sacrifice myself to save my kingdom than sacrifice my people to do so.
So realistically logan did all those bad things to save money and make the same decisions you make when your on the throne so in that case you had no right taking the throne off him. Your the bad guy.......
I didn't Execute Logan even though he almost plunge Albian into an Economic Crisis and execute innocent people. The only reason why I spared him is because his my brother. There is many alike Ellise in Albian, but you only have one brother.
You should do a Gameplay walkthrough of this game! There are a lot of fable fan and you should give this game a chance! Great video btw, keep up the good work!
It's such a sad death to watch. Hah, the first time I executed him on my second play through as to become evil, I flipped out, I had no clue it would be so brutal?
I could never kill Logan. His reasoning made sense even if his actions were horrible. That said, his sibling doesn't even attend his execution? Shameful. You condemned your only family to die the least you can do is bear witness.
I understand Logan acted to preserve Albion. Most of the seemingly evil choices were necessary, and we all came to realize that as we played through the story. But I could never get passed the one unnecessary thing he did do at the very beginning of the game when he forced you to choose to kill either one innocent person who did nothing, or the three protesters outside, and if you didn't decide, he would kill them all. When I sentenced him to die, I sentenced him for that alone.
It was a test, to see how your character handled pressure and what they were willing to sacrifice. Logan didn’t know if he would survive and wanted to prepare your character to take his place, in his own way, should the worst happen. I’m still bitterly disappointed that Logan didn’t say anything about the Crawler to anyone. Not Walter, the Prince/Princess, or even Major Swift. He didn’t need to take all of the burden alone. He had all that stress, pressure, and PTSD because he refused to share the burden. If he had he could have found a better way to save his people and he wouldn’t have been seen as a tyrant.
i can never bring myself to kill logan in all honesty. yes, he was a bit of a dick, and he should have faced some form of punishment, but at the end of the day, he has to live with the hatred of his people and his loved ones so i see that as punishment enough. but everything he did was to protect the people of albion, and his sister/brother so i couldn't really condemn him for trying to be a good guy, though he did a poor job at being one. plus, i loved the fable 2 character so much that i would have felt bad for killing one of her(my fable 2 character was a female) children.
+JusticeBringer He did have a reason, he wanted to teach you that becoming a king means you have to make difficult choices. It still isn't justified, but there you go.
***** No, not really, he was just doing that to be a jackass. There's a difference between piling resources to fight an enemy and choosing to murder a group of innocent people or murder your also innocent girlfriend, one is necessary and one is completely unnecessary.
What exactly does murdering your innocent boyfriend/girlfriend or a group of innocent people teach you and how does this relate to what Logan's doing in any way? Logan is causing suffer to create a viable future but how exactly does choosing to kill your girlfriend or a group of people relate to the lesson of sacrifice for the greater good? One is done because it is necessary (Logan's decisions) and one is completely just because he wants to be a dick (Making you choose who to kill). Why not just make your brother/sister a king for the day and let him/her understand what sacrifices are instead of teaching them a pointless "there's no winning in life" situation.
U guys really need to hear logans italian voice it fits his face perfectly,I had never heard the English one before, but it doesn't do justice to the character
Logan should’ve picked up like a professional communication and an ethics class on top of that at like the local community college. The internal strife would’ve been better formulated if we already knew Logan’s reasoning to begin with and saw his methods get more and more extreme in his paranoia.
You know everything bad that he's doing it's supposed to be justified for the greater good but I feel like some things are just for no reason and he was being a douchebag like the very beginning were you choose either your friend or the protesters to die there was no reason for that just imprison them and even says before you reach that point if necessary shoot into the crowd like he's just being bloodthirsty there's no benefit from that.
So Logan and his brother or sister are the hero of bowerstone kids and the hero of oakvale and the hero’s of Oakvale family are their ancestors how come Logan doesn’t say our ancestor since thressa is one of their ancestors
I’m guessing the hero of oakvale is dead by old age and when we helped the guy that made a deal with a devil for destroying oakvale for immortality yet he still lives forever
I've played this game load and still do and every time I just can't kill him maybe it's because I have an older brother or maybe it's just that I get to much into the game.

I just did the money glitch and kept all my promises and saved everybody
SpAC3GH0sT100 I'm on Xbox one do u know I way I can do that ?
This is actually sad. I've never seen his execution scene before. And now I have.... 11 years after the game came out!!!! I honestly wanted him to live even after all he'd done. Guess that shows how benevolent I was.
I wanted him imprisoned, so that he gets punished, AND he lives to see that I succeeded where he failed.
I managed to raise a shit ton of money throughout the game and it covered every good choice I made without leaving the kingdom bankrupt. No promises were broken and we made it through the darkness no problem.
SAME
SAME
I guess it never occurred to Logan that the easiest way to raise the money for his army was a bake sale.
All he needed was to strum some sweet chords on the lute and he'd be rolling in war funds.

I'm still playing the game on the 360.
+rayhagele Like Logan himself said "what are you willing to sacrifice to do the right thing?"
The problem is he sacrificed TOO much and as a result, he became equal or even worse than the Crawler.
And for killing your romantic interest in the beginning of the game?
How was that decision for the benefit of Albion?
(Everyone seems to forget that he did this)
Why'd he kill swift?
Because Swift was going to help the rebellion and the rebellion would be a larger problem because he had to focus on the darkness. I think Logan intentions were good and remain good. But most of the people here are actually just here to see what happens to him.
I always have to be good. Even when playing it evil for fun I feel guilty lol

Logan is just the anti hero not antagonist.

@@Hondacbr600rrish I've been ready for that YEARS ago 😆
Say what you will about Fable 3, this was a pretty heavy moment.
the thing is, this part is one of those decisions that's all in the relatively grey area. sure he did what he thought was best, but the immense cruelty and damage he did could be seen as inexcusable.
...why the hell he didn't say why he was doing it earlier i don't know XD
Probably to not cause widespread panic among the people, to have them live in fear for years. Or maybe they'd think he's lying cuz it would be years before the Crawler came and people wouldn't know that it was real and unwilling to work
The Doktatorship BECAUSE HE HATES YOUR HERO FAVOURTISM I GUESS XD
On Wiki is said that he tried to tell his associates, but they believed it was trauma so they didn't believed his words
1:28 did you guys see the half invisible lady?! XD
Grace Looker yeah i did
I did
Yep.
Teresa is such a bitch... but everyone justifies it with "the greater good" but it's not working with Logan... hypocrisy being what it is, lol.
My biggest gripe with this game's plot is Logan's actions....not his taxation and mis-treatment of the people (hear me out) but for hiding his reasons:
1) Logan is a hero, maybe not as great a hero as the Prince, but he has hero's blood running in his veins all the same.
Film Mations
Except it was explicitly HER and your brother's fault.
Rixoli oh yeah, tell an early teen the prophecy about a horde of darkness is gonna come by in half a decade and that you will have to to specifically screw over your brother and take his place then decide the ultimata fate of your kingdom saving 6.5 million people, no stress there.
you know what? i kind of feel bad for the guy, i mean like, he unintentionally made his people suffer just so he could save them, he only wanted what was best, then he gets the execution command from his brother then gets executed be getting shot by 10 rifles
why did swift have to die? how did that help with preparing for the darkness?
Atleast he got A Painless death I would of Made them all go for headshots just so he didn't have to suffer honestly
+Joe Sandlin I liked swift
The only injustice in his execution is that Reaver isn't there next to him in front of the firing line.
yeah but as much as i hate to admit it, reaver is just awesome
Throughout our real-world history, several countries have adopted a total-war economy successfully in times of need, and it was nothing like what Logan did to Albion.
you know thats the point to have logan so they can compare his rule to yours
***** Reaver was a pirate who got everything he had through murder and treachery. Most of his resources in Fable 3 are only his because Logan imprisoned their owner and gave the resources to Reaver (as revealed in the Traitors' Keep DLC).

does anone else see the fact that Logan's wearing a breastplate? How the hell is he shot in the chest?
well.. during that time period the most breastplates are to intimidate enemies or look good they are not used as protection. Especially not against guns.
Idk
well like i wrote to someone earlier, they are mostly for show not to protect :P But of course if theres enough thick metal plates they could deflect projectiles
Not all breastplates are meant for protection. Some are for protection and some are for wearing for royalty or something like that....
The music is what makes this scene intense
Logan was using tough love to protect his people
Man, seeing Logan’s reaction to being put to death is genuinely heartbreaking.

Neither logan nor reaver deserves to be executed. Morals are subjective.
It didn't take a hero to do this. The kingdom needed someone with fundamental knowledge of economics and patience.

Michael Fassbender would be perfect in Game Of Thrones
It's such a sad death to watch. Hah, the first time I executed him on my second play through as to become evil, I flipped out, I had no clue it would be so brutal?
Fun Fact: The voice actor is Michael Fassbender.
I could never kill Logan. His reasoning made sense even if his actions were horrible. That said, his sibling doesn't even attend his execution? Shameful. You condemned your only family to die the least you can do is bear witness.
Even? So what if his actions are "horrible"
I feel so bad for logan,he did it to protect a country and seeing him get shot is sad
It all comes down to a single question.
Do the ends justify the means?
Honestly I wish there was a choice for trial by combat if Logan defeats you he lives if you defeat him he dies
Would be a good fight, hero vs hero.
Probably because you hate that folks easily get to pardon him
It was all good and all, until I just dropped 6.5mil right into the royal treasury. IT shows, that the power of money really do solves everything~
i can never bring myself to kill logan in all honesty. yes, he was a bit of a dick, and he should have faced some form of punishment, but at the end of the day, he has to live with the hatred of his people and his loved ones so i see that as punishment enough. but everything he did was to protect the people of albion, and his sister/brother so i couldn't really condemn him for trying to be a good guy, though he did a poor job at being one. plus, i loved the fable 2 character so much that i would have felt bad for killing one of her(my fable 2 character was a female) children.
Ive only just realized this playthrough that spearing logan is the right choice, even the people want him alive

+JusticeBringer He did have a reason, he wanted to teach you that becoming a king means you have to make difficult choices. It still isn't justified, but there you go.
*****
No, not really, he was just doing that to be a jackass. There's a difference between piling resources to fight an enemy and choosing to murder a group of innocent people or murder your also innocent girlfriend, one is necessary and one is completely unnecessary.
JusticeBringer
Think what you will, but I gave you his reasoning. It wasn't for nothing.
Michael Fassbender??!!
