The political situation in Serbia is very bad and has been since the current president and his party came to power a bit more than ten years ago (I mean it was also shit about ten years before that, but that's a whole nother can of worms). People have pretty much been protesting ever since. News coverage is very subjetive and mostly directed by the goverment (The three biggest channels that have national frequency are pretty much controlled by the government, show a lot of speeches and talks with the president and other important gov. officials and other than that reality shows), while free journalists and impartial news coverage is constantly undermined - the freedom of the press is very bad.
There have been protests again ever since two shootings in early May 2023 and have been going on since, after the elections in December also because of blatant election fraud and manipulation. Police brutality, also against peaceful protesters is very much a problem as well.
There is a huge amount of things to unpack, I barely scratched the surface here. I wanted to just give a general overview.
I'd also recommend you to react to more BS, they're great. They've been around since the 90s which were also a very turbulent time for Serbia to put it lightly, but arguably their most famous album is Diskretni Heroj (Discreet Hero (2010 released in I think)), which came before this song. From that album I'd recommend Welcome to Serbia, Balada Disidenta (balad of the disidents) and maybe even Svedok Saradnik (Witness Collaborator), and also a Single, Dogodine u Prizrenu (Next year in Prizren).
