7 HOURS IN A SMALL AIRPLANE and Discovery of an American Gem

- First of all I apologize for the lack of cockpit audio and low quality audio on the first half of the flight. My cockpit audio recording device failed due to the cold.
Having said that, there are not too many more fulfilling things than flying your own airplane from the Great Lakes region to the Rockies in Denver. Albeit, the long flight due to headwinds, this was one of the most fulfilling flights I had in a while.
Those 7 hours in my small airplane, yet very comfortable machine, may seem like a lot but the long journey was interrupted by the discovery of a little gem along the way, Lamoni, Iowa. They say the Pizza Shack restaurant in town is one of the best pizzas out there, I definitely must try that next time.
Routes Taken:
KYIP - KLWD: VFR under the class Bravo towards KJYM ten IFR, EON KLWD at 8,000
KLWD - KAPA: VFR to KBIE then IFR direct KAPA at 14,000

Got my pilot’s license finally. Thank you Nikko for finding where I could take lessons at where I live.
I’m glad I was able to help and congratulations!
Yay! congrats on receiving your pilot's license. 👍
Awesome, congratulations!!
OK Nico. I’m just going to say it. It’s time. With your time and your ability and your huge cahones flying in complex weather situations, icing etc. it’s time for you to move on. Malibu, Mirage, something pressurized. Cabin class. Faster. It’s time. Do it.
@@observer1242 Totally agree. The portable O2's gotta be getting old! Next move should also leave the pistons behind and go turbine. (I'm really good at spending other people's money!)
I agree: “this country is full of gems” and that’s what I love about flying GA, we discover these “gems” or what we call “Small Town Americana” that we would not have otherwise known about!!!
So true
Niko likes food too guys LOL
@@paratyshow
I know, Niko had a nice burger 🍔
There’s food on our next video!!!
Parr 4 the Course, Hey neighbor, Guntersville Alabama!

We live in Wichita now, but previously we lived in Bossier City/Monroe, LA
Just found out I was the one marshaling you in to TAC Air, Niko. Thanks for stopping by, it was great to be able to serve you! Hope to see 122SZ again soon!
Was that you? I remember chatting with you when I got there. Great service at TacAir
Thanks for allowing me to "fly" along with you today. Virtual is better than nothing!
It’s great to be back online and watching my favourite aviation/flying channel.
Anytime Niko posts a video it’s a good day. I appreciate your love of small places. I’m from socal, and every time I get to visit small town in middle America I realize that life has a lot of things right… So peaceful.
Just realizing how long I’ve been watching your videos. Big fan of when you show your logic as you usually do.
Thanks for doing these
White wine and a tasty burger. Livin' the good life!! You look to be in great shape, shows you moderation is the key.
Hey Niko, I've been watching your videos since a few years ago when I was thinking about doing my PPL, now I'm halfway through my CPL and still enjoying your content, keep it up!
Love from New Zealand🤙
Sometimes the long flights are very intentional. We’ll be flying two Aircams from Baltimore to KOSH via Vermont and Southern Canada. 14 hours+ air time one way. Very low altitudes. Flexible schedule and a lifetime of memories. Enough US and Canadian gems for a necklace. Hope to see you there.
Amazing
I had to do a double take when I saw the sign for Willow Run. Did all of my flight training there. Fun to see it in the eyes of another pilot.
Great to see how your flying incorporates your business life style, like your airplane is your commute vehicle! Brilliant! keep em coming Niko, a joy to watch!, Cheers from the UK
Enjoyed every minute of this vid. Thanks for sharing! Took a demo flight in an SR22t g6 this past weekend. I have been forever changed!!! What an awesome aircraft!
That’s nice
Two vids in a week! Thank you Niko. Look forward to watching again soon 🤞
wonderful (as always!)!!!
Great aerial views, and weather enhanced nicely. Thank you for the ride-along! Fly safe and stay well.
Entertaining as always. Thanks for sharing
Really enjoyed this video as always. Sounds like it was a really long day!
Another great video Niko. Always enjoy your trips. You make flying look easy. I appreciate your running commentary on what you are doing as you fly. Thanks for bringing your RUclips family along on your trips.
..as an early subscriber..way to go again Niko..always having such fun..and sometimes..sheer terror...but please..keep em.. coming...
Absolute gem Niko. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from CYYB.
Excellent video, love your flying and how you put these together.
Great flight and totally worth watching again. Congrats on the good presentation too 👍
Thanx for having us tag-along on your trips. We're glad your Cirrus is a complete success for you.
Great flight, spectacular scenery, and vibing with Niko.. yamas!
Thank you for the high-quality content. Very enjoyable to watch. The effort that you put into your videos has not gone unnoticed. Perhaps we will see you at Oshkosh in a few weeks.
Another great video buddy! Great landing in Colorado on a shorter runway and a tailwind. 👍
Thank you for sharing Nikos.
like your productions values, well done!
From another gem here in Oklahoma, always appreciate you sharing your adventures with us Niko.
Niko, You're an inspiration. Cheers
It seems it’s been awhile, glad to see you’re back 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for sharing, it takes work what you’re doing so we can enjoy these videos, keep up the good work.
I like the new format
Great shots out the window and use of time lapse
That’s a long days flying 👍🏻 Thx for showing us some of it. 🙂 Can’t imagine the editing that goes into these for all the b-roll of instruments, outside, wing shots, etc. Brilliant 👊🏻 It’s a long wait for us 🇬🇧 to get back to Vegas too.
Cool video as always , i look forward to the next one 🙂
Love Centennial. Great airport, good service, and the restaurant at the airport is awesome. Really, it’s one of the best in town.
Love all of the technical aspects of your videos but the vibe of this one really speaks to me man. This is something that i've put off and put off b/c of the risks (and lets face it, the money), but life is moving to a point where both of those aren't as big of a barrier and now it's just my own intestinal fortitude in the way.
Super inspirational stuff man. I hope this trip bears fruit in your life as well, it has in mine. :)
Nice to see you spent some time in my home state of Michigan! You definitely see the country differently when you hop around GA airports.
great landing!
Thanks again, enjoyed watching that from my computer chair here in England, stay well.
👍☑Love Monday's flying with Niko, actually any day with Niko is a good day! Another beautiful video, tks.
Hope the family and you are doing well. Thank you for the video - take care - be safe
The quality of your video is amazing. I was at Signature APA Sun-Tue and now HND. Small world.
Good to see you again. Wise decision. Eat locally, prepare for tomorrows business and get some sleep. Thank you, Niko,
"Not much of a place here" - you'd be lucky to get that in outback Western Australia! 🤣 Most of the outback aerodromes here have nothing more than a gravel runway. I'd love to fly in the US!
I have been living the dream through your videos for the past 6 years. I don't know if you remember but I commented on one of your videos a long time ago about how I lost my 3rd class medical certificate back in 2016. After a 6 year battle with the FAA and going through hell and back I'm ecstatic to report that today I got the FAA's blessing and finally got my 3rd class medical certificate issued. Next up is going for my ppl license. Thanks for keeping us entertained with all of your videos. God bless!
Congratulations
What a great life you live!
Take Care, Niko. Enjoyed the video!
Awesome video 🙂 looks amazing the music in the background make me feel like I’m flying too lol
That burger made me hungry! ✈️✈️✈️👍👍👍
the 360 cam on the wing tip is awesome!
Love the soundtrack NIKO
Nice outfit! Love your videos!
You captured a beautiful example of an early 310:-)
You have perfect sound tracks. I'd go for the glass of wine over the gym too.
Awesome video Niko 👍sending best wishes from michigan. 🙂
Missed you in Lexington, SC recent,y it appears. Enjoying the new videos. Makes me want to get back in track and get my license.
YAY!!! Been so long since I’ve seen some Niko content.
Always interesting , thanks for the tag a long. Later.
Love the videos. That DA20 at willow run is one of the planes that I have rented there.
No way
Cool editing Niko 👍
Your video work (as your flying) is reaching new levels of interest and real-life detail.
You’ve developed a knack for storytelling, especially focusing on general aviation as it contributes to your business and personal life.
Well done.
I used to watch FlightChops, however I’ve lost interest (as others I know) with his repeated “tail wheel” and “warbird” stories done repeatedly while he mooches off vendors that have nothing to do with the core of his presentations. Makes no sense to me!
If any of the vendors are watching this creator, this is the type of person whose real world flying actually influences us, not the former. Just a hint!
Good job Niko!
Denver, my hometown. Though I really love living here in Florida. As always, I love your vids Paesano...
I'm a Denver native, long gone are the days of Stapleton. Denver airport is like a city all by it's self. 🏔️🌍🌎🛩️🌏🤗🦊
Awesome video! This is what I imagine a real life Bruce Wayne would do on a daily basis.
Living the dream
Love it when Americans say ‘little bite’ and the you find a giant cheeseburger with fries 😂😉
But it was Vegan plus here in ‘Merica we thing BIG
The most relatable thing i have seen on this channel!
- Trying to get gas - "Lets see.... Approved!?... Ok"
Hello Niko. It’s been quite a stretch of time since I’ve popped in for a visit. I’m finally home for 2 more months then it’s off again for more journeys across the globe. Hope all has been well for you and your family. Thank you for taking us along in predictable skies (commercial has been a joke). As always, safe skies my friend. 🛫🌌🛬
Woof to another fur kid who flys with pawrents🦊🛩️🤗🌍🌎🌏
You are living most people's dream. Self made man/woman using their private plane for business and pleasure and getting to travel the country in the process. I cannot think of a better lifestyle.
Another great and entertaining video. I was wondering if you could do an upcoming video showing the mechanical maintenance the aircraft needs after x amount of flying hours. Would love to see something on the maintenance required.
Thanks
That is a long time to be in the cockpit Niko. I did Canberra to Perth in one day in the Glasair - 10 hours plus change, and the following day I was pretty shattered. But then, you're a lot younger than me, and most likely a lot more fit. As usual, loved the video.
I’m 52 so the age always tries to work against you. Staying for for sure does help a ton. I think keeping my oxygen at sea level saturation is what helps me the most.
Thanks Niko. I missed seeing your post.
My son is also a private pilot, my fault, I put a red plastic plane in his lap at age 1 for a picture so he wouldn't cry! 45 years later there are 2 planes in a hanger in Guntersville Alabama. ! A very busy business life.
Thank you Niko for your video's,I always enjoy watching, hello 👋 to your family. 🛩️🚀
Denver native 🏔️
It started sort of the same way for me. At age 1 they gave me a jumbo jet toy and that was it for me
@@NikosWings parent's! Lol
@@NikosWings just wanted to add Niko, I hope your daughter takes up flying. It is amazing to see what a lot of just car drivers never get to see, and as My son says, "No stop lights"lol
My daughter also has been in Jets as she is a Sargent Major in Stuttgart, Germany, retiring Very soon, 25 year's.
Foxie Dog even has her own aviator hat and scarf, Snoopy has nothing on her, lol. She rides in her car seat where we stick any back packs in the Cessna 2 seater. The Piper is 4 seats and he just got a new-er engine for it in April from my brother in law in Marana Arizona. We went out there for a bit. You know it is pilots who know other pilots who leave the doors open at these remote airfield places, there is always a coffee pot and bathroom ☕🛩️ and nothing to ever worry about.
Take good care and keep the blue side up! 🛩️🛩️🛩️🛩️🛩️
You must be very proud of your kids!
That burger in Denver looked like it was worth the trip👍
Vegan actually but so good
I thought I saw you in Centennial I was departing in my turbo commander right when you were pulling in. About 630 or 7 o’clock. I was hopping over to Vail that evening. And then I just saw your video pop up. And I see my commander for a millisecond in your video when you were pulling into Tac Air. Aviation is such a small community. Ran into Stevo in Jacksonville in the TBM. 😀
That’s such a small world
Love your videos. Locals pronounce the Iowa city, La Moan Eye..Lamoni, Iowa
Greeting from MI again! I see a vision jet in your future Niko
Hard to find one
@@NikosWings no doubt!
Love your videos and happy to see you posting again. I'm sure you've mentioned it, but what business are you in?
Municipal payments
Now it dawned on me who you remind me of, Dom Felder. You guys could be brothers. Lol
Yeah I can see it
Hi Niko ! I wish to suggest a safer way of starting your engine. Presently, you say "clear prop" and turn the key. It could be safer to look right and left before turning the key. Have a good flight. 😃👍👍
The video is highly edited and trimmed to be as short as possible. Lots of details are missing on purpose
I can't even imagine 7 hours , no bathroom, not being able to stretch your legs. Trying to stay awake. hard enough on a commercial airline. Amazing job
7 hours total, about 3.5 each leg, break for bathroom and stretching
The Perfect Landing Restaurant at Centennial is pretty nice.
I'm impressed how after all that flying you can go talk business then fly some more and end up at a nice hotel for the night.. I would find it hard to sell my services when I was mentally beat....
Wow, what a hard life you got brother. I almost feel sorry for you….
The struggle is real I’m telling you man…
Business all over the country = tired Niko… get yourself a copilot so as to be able to do some in flight naps…🥱😴 thanks for sharing 🙏❤️ take care 🤙
And miss all the fun??? I actually have a co-pilot if I need him, but he’s been busy flying a jet lately. You hear that Matt???
@@NikosWings Hahahahaha well, I’d volunteer happily but hey, I’m retired on Tenerife Island a few miles away from you my friend 😆 Keepmon rolling, you’re doing fine ✊🤙
That’s a hike… have fun
Yes I’m back I’ve looked for this channel for months I just couldn’t find it. Then I found my old passwords to access my old RUclips account. Love nicos videos hello from Dublin Ireland 🇮🇪 Nico. Hope you’re family got over Covid okays your all doing well.
Welcome back
hi niko, thank you for the amazing videos. I was wondering if there is a chance you could do a video on how you flight plan? cheers
I will
@@NikosWings I'd like that too
Lol, Lamoni is pronounced "la moan eye" it's funny to hear how everyone interprets and says on the radio. If you're ever back through southern Iowa, say hi sometime!
Willco
Hi Niko. I love your sunglasses, it perfectly suits you 👌🏻
What model is it? Thank you 🙏
They are McLaren just like the F1 racing team
At 3:41 you look to be crossing the nomes intersection. I fly a lot in this area and know it like the back of my hand.
My dream is to fly the Cirrus but I can barely afford my Cessna lessons at the moment so it’s time for me to find a new job 😅
Dream big and it will happen. I used to be there too
@@NikosWings Thank you so much. I always come to this Chanel for motivation 🙏
You're aging Nikos! Not too bad though.
Thank you for your videos.
Ain’t we all?
@@NikosWings Absolutely we are. Not by choice I might add. So maybe we can employ what Greek Philosophy taught us and be Stoic about it. It is an astonishing fact though. Keep flying and keep posting your videos. Very enjoyable and instructive.
Yeia sou Niko!
Niko, Hello from Boynton Beach...I have been watching you fly around the country for years. Just curious how many hours in the logbook.
Hey bud, I’d say 3k by now
Nikko the trip Ottawa Vanacouver was in same day.Christopher
Here I am at my local school getting started and who do I see on the wall with his first solo and after checkride… ol’ Niko himself!
Good ol’ Skill Aviation… my favorite place. Can’t wait to come visit
@@NikosWings I’m flying the DA20 there, only 2 hours in mind you but hitting it hard starting Tuesday.
That’s great, you picked one of the best flight schools in the US
Limoni, IA...one of my usual fuel stops between TX and MN. KAPA is also great, but I usually go into Boulder, which is a really nice vibrant airport right adjacent to the Front Range. Any temptation to hit Leadville while in the neighborhood?
Now that I know I’ll make sure to go there next time
Nice flight, nice colors. No sign of the static any more?
Hi Kyp yes there’s static here and there
Ótima jornada Comandante. Vôos assim são sozinho é uma ótima oportunidade para nos conhecermos melhor. Deus lhe abençoe. Abraços! Itamar do Brasil
I was watching Las Vegas airport live and i thought i herd you give your call sign prier to and during take off. Maybe??
If it was June 10 or June 13 it was me
@@NikosWings Yes Yes very cool what is the chance of that! Take care.
