Spirit is just the nightmare matchup for NAVI. NAVI can pride itself on being one of the best teams with the least firepower, but what happens when the difference is so massive that no amount of teamwork seems to be enough? FaZe, Vitality, G2, and MOUZ are just weak enough that NAVI can exploit them strategically and win behind some solid individual performances. But Spirit? It demands life games from every NAVI player. It doesn't help either that being so exceedingly stacked with firepower means you can just have a 5-map wide map pool whereas NAVI are solid on 3.
The fact that a NAVI (David) vs. Spirit (Goliath) BO5 Grand Final was so much closer than FaZe vs. Spirit Katowice BO5 Grand Final is pretty crazy though. Absolutely a solid showing for NAVI, even if they lost 3-1.

@georgejoacaclash4406 It's the Outsiders effect again. No one hated Outsiders until they won what people considered a fluke major. Well, difference is Aleksib was already getting tons of hate even before the major and then it all rekindled when NAVI struggled afterwards.

@thehunter6563 The last time NAVI played Vitality prior to Cologne was in December of 2023. Meanwhile, they've played Spirit over a dozen times now in 2024.

Na'vi played pretty good imo, the lack of consistency from some of their players is the reason why they cant even think to come back to that major run, honestly i like a lot this Na'Vi roster, but they have to work on their consistency, for example on Dust2, B1t iM and w0nderful were out of that map, Aleksib shouldn't be the guy who carries the game.
Not just lack of consistency, but also just not having that high of a floor. There's no donk or sh1ro on NAVI. The firepower discrepancy has been clear in every game they've played against each other.
Honestly, I don't think NAVI have a chance against Spirit without s1mple. Any other team, NAVI is just strong enough beat. Teams like G2 and FaZe. But Spirit is seemingly out of reach.

@zettour. Objectively this take means literally nothing. Na'vi has two of the best fraggers in the game currently in W0nderful and B1t. Their issues are all AleksiB and how he calls CT side. Watch how they get obliterated on CT every map except Mirage. It's not about "firepower" at this level. Every single one of their players can frag, the issue is strategy.
@Agdem_ Objectively, this is the worst take I have ever seen on NAVI and one which I have never seen before. w0nderful and b1t? Yeah, maybe if we took w0nderful's absolute 3 month peak on Spirit and b1t's absolute 3 month peak during the 2021 NAVI roster. Right now? b1t's the worst player on this NAVI roster post-major apart from Aleksi himself while w0nderful hasn't even been a Top 10 AWPer statistically. This whole team post-major is struggling to post 1.0 rating. And jL is their best player so how did you even get w0nderful and b1t here as their "best fraggers in the game". And every single player on NAVI can frag, what in the world?! People have criticized iM from the beginning for his poor fragging. Aleksi isn't on OG/NIP anymore so it's clear that he isn't a fragger like he wasn't on ENCE or G2. w0nderful has been criticized as one of the most passive AWPers. b1t is only the 3rd best fragger on NAVI and has been that almost since 2021 when he joined. jL was a supportive anchor player who was barely the 3rd best player on Apeks and is just now coming out as a star closer during Copenhagen before regressing massively post-major until this tournament. They have no ZywOo, Spinx, donk, sh1ro, frozen, broky, NiKo, m0NESY, Jimpphat, Brollan, electronic, EliGE, NAF, the list goes on of star players. Did one major run where NAVI exploited the weaknesses of teams like G2 and FaZe convince you that they're suddenly Top 3 in firepower? Christ, it's like you are stuck in 2021 and this roster has s1mple, electronic, b1t, Perfecto, and Boombl4 all in prime form.
Just look at the teams in Top 10 and compare them to NAVI. Complexity is the only weaker team firepower wise due to floppy and Grim struggling plus JT being HooXi-level. VP are on par with them or better due to every player being solid and only electronic struggling pulls them down. You could argue Heroic, but now they have degster. Spirit, FaZe, Vitality, MOUZ? All stacked to the gills with firepower. G2, Astralis both have at least 2 Top 20 level players player at a Top 20 level. Where does NAVI fit into that? They should be a #9 ranked team on firepower (really even lower since teams like Liquid and Mongolz also have insanely good individual performances with high ceilings and high floor players galore) but are Top 5 precisely because of their excellent teamwork and the Blad3/Aleksib combo.
It's as if you aren't even watching the games, just highlights and then imagining the rest of the rounds. You think the scoreline tells you everything? "Oh, they lost 2-10 on CT-side. Must be Aleksib because IGL responsible for CT side and he so bad." If you knew anything about CS, you'd know T-side is where IGLs have the most control and CT-side relies more on individuals. Sure, rotations and opening setups are huge, but watch the game. Spirit just tore NAVI players apart and gained momentum, which made chopper look better in the eyes of casuals like you than he is (though he is kinda underrated). This is the same problem people had with HooXi when G2 were having their runs, attributing all their success to HooXi's calling while ignoring that G2 had 4 players putting on MVP-worthy performances all at the same time.
I'll just end here because my goodness did this reply hurt my intelligence. Please, go back to HLTV forums where you belong. Or learn by watching the games like a good fan or watching actual analyst from people in the scene like Mauisnake, launders, etc.
