Michi describing the traffic bribe could have been latin America. I remember my parents discussing "la mordida" when traveling to visit extended family.
5:26 Those situations are actually not bribery - it is "extortion", or "payment under duress". Bribe is purely voluntary act with the aim of obtaining _additional_ and/or _illegal_ benefits.
That's the difference. When in doubt: If a civilian pays a government official to get out of trouble, that's bribery. If a government official asks for payment to leave you out of trouble, that's extortion.
Here in Europe (Lithuania to be specific) i dont even need to do that much, i literally just go to website they calculate my earnings and i just add expenditures if i had any if not they calculate and return me what i have overpaid (Usually since my income fluctuates a bit i overpay taxes to be safe and at t he end of the year i get back what i overpaid)
Bribes can be on very different scales. Bribe police for closing their eyes on you speeding +10 kmh over the limit, or bribing a doctor for an extra prescription of Adderall - that's one thing. Bribing a judge so that he would decide in your favor on criminal case. Or bribe whole city council to overlook your illegal buildings (sometimes having a huge part of the apartments at new building dedicated to whomever was bribed when this apartment complex was built). Or bribe police for overlooking your drug trade network - that's a whole different level of bribes.
14 is parental guidance, but yes, explicitly allowed. 16 is the first time you can actually buy wine and beer. That's why everyone is in a rush to get their ID with 16. That thing enables you to buy alcohol.
Michi confirming that in the predominantly Muslim Indonesia, many prefer to occasionally go haram instead of halal. Well, not devout Muslims, but since there are other religious groups in there, it's more lenient regarding freedom of worship, not like in countries where Sharia law is the law.
fun fact. back before my time, in canada anyways, but im sure it was the same in the states from what I heard. kids could also buy cigarettes and alcohol without being questioned since it was also common practice for parents to send their kids to run errands to the store. also, in canada its illegal to sell/give cigarettes to anyone under 18 but its legal for them to smoke them lol.
Same here. In Germany they actually raised the age need for tobacco from 16 to 18 while I was around that age about 20 years ago. Alcohol consumption is even officially allowed under parental guidance.
Any drugs are "illegal to obtain, but not_illegal to consume" because you cannot punish a person who already needs external assisstance and is in a vulnerable position.
There are moments when you or the accountant may make an honest mistake and audit you to fix the mistake when it comes to getting your taxes correct. It's not the same as tax fraud, where you do stuff like understate your income, overstate your losses, and file your distant family and pets as dependents. Tax evasion is just avoiding paying them.
I may be talking out of my ass here but I feel like most cultures default to that lifestyle to some degree. With some variation of course. I think it's a very Western thing to be discontent.
The entire video I was thinking was it sounds like Eastern Europe. Even when it comes to alcohol, most of it is Christian majority so no one cares if kids are buying it even though it's technically illegal, but even Muslim majority countries like Turkey have a similar attitude to Indonesians, only with tea instead of coffee

Lol what michi described is not paying a bribe, it being extorted by the police
That's just the trafic ticket. I once went to court for that, cost the same as the bribe and it was a waste of time.

It's so weird how humans tend to rationalize away being abused as something neutral, or even beneficial, when it's common enough....

It's not like you can any kind of alcohol with 16 in germany. Only beer. Because of course it's beer. We treat it like liquid bread.
Not just beer, everything non distilled, so wine too.
So beer tequila mix for example is 18+ because of the tequila
Those german has weak stomach but still treat alcoholic beverage like source of calorie 😅😅
Michiburger is cute

Very enlightening
Those subtitles are a bit hit or miss…

Sounds like the country side in America

Its crazy how both of their chats have absolutely zero clue about taxes lol so many people gonna end up in jail over taxes in the near future 😅

Typical SEA

And that is the very reason why America is the most prominent and prosperous country in the world for half a century already
In Michi's country, you can get away with murder,... even with public witnesses, if you have enough clout and money.
Sounds like something a certain annoying orange once said...

> More common in SEA
Khmkhm, Eastern Europe on the line - you guys are goddamn amateurs, honestly.
Latin America, hearing it's a corruption competition: Hold our Mezcal, somos los campeones de corrupcion!
