- Saunan puunausta eli pientä maalailua sekä kiuaskivien vaihtoa. Ja tietysti myös saunomista ja kylpemistä luonnon vesissä. Lammen vesi on kesälläkin melko viileää, edelleen alta kymmenen asteista.
Saunan eteistilassa oli ennen vanha iso kaappi, jonka heivasin pois. Kaapin takaa oli maali rapistunut, joten ehostin seinän uudella maalilla. Vanhan kaapin tilalle laitoin pienen puulaatikon, jonka päällä voipi istuskella ja vilvoitella löylyjen välissä.

I enjoyed this video. I continue to enjoy the sound bites of you scraping and working in the back ground with still video- things, in this video, like the carved owl on the stump, a scene of your pond, and the stump with your “skinny dip” just out of focus in the distance. Very tastefully done. I love the wooden box in your entry way and the simplicity of your woven rug. I do not know what it means to flog your self with branches from the forest when you take a sauna, but I guess I can look that one up. I’m sure it has some medicinal purpose or cleansing purpose as well. The videos are great. I look forward to one when you are able to post. I continue to look forward to the completion of the pole structure and the tour of the cabin in Finland. Thank you again.
The collection of birch twigs is known as "vihta" or "vasta" and it's used for cleaning your skin in the sauna. More or less an older tradition in Finland(maybe also in Scandinavia), but it makes you feel really fresh after the whole procedure🌿
Thank you for the reply. I have seen this before (the vasta). I understand it is a cleansing process. And I am sure it has deep roots. I think you need someone that can spackle your walls for you. Sand, and paint with a coat of primer and a two coats of finish paint. You may not get all of that in English. But it’s just a suggestion. It looks like you did a very good job with the brushes and hand brush paint. I love your vid’s. As I said, It’s all about the side photography that you provide, as background for the job at hand that you are trying to do. You have a gift. It is similar to the gift in the vid that I suggested: “ Into Great Silence”. I think it is real and that there is a parallel. Something innate. Thank you again for the response, It means so much to me to understand. ~Liam.

Aika paljon kiviä sinunkin kiukaaseen menee.itellä on tuo savusaunakin sinne niitä vasta sopiikin.en kaupasta niitä osta .haen louhokselta sopivaa kiveä.iso kivimäärä kiukaassa on vaan hyvä asia.hyvä oli myös video kyllä.nyt saa jo vastankin tehdyksi itsellä on kans joka sauna kerta tuore vasta kesällä.talveksi sitten kuivatetaan talvi vastat.
Kiitos viestistä :) Joo, yllätyin kun melkein kaksi laatikkoa kiviä menikin, vaikka kiuas suht pieni. Täällä on myös savusauna, jossa huomattavasti isompaa kiveä.
Erityisesti kuusi on kukkinut tänä vuonna todella runsaasti. Meilläkin on täällä Pohjanmaalla pienempien lampien pinnat vielä keltaisena niistä. 😊
Joo, sama on huomattu täällä. Siitepölyä on ollut todella runsaasti verrattuna viime vuoteen. Mutta nyt alkaa jo helpottaa😄

I thought the Birch was just twigs..but I guess the leaves make it a little softer.

Kesällä sitä touhua riittäis itse kullakin mutta kesä on niin lyhyt ettei koskaan ehdi kaikkea mitä on mielessä.
Hyttyset is back ainakin täällä toden teolla, siihen asti oli tosi mukavaa.😬

Heippa, minulle varsinkin aamusauna on todella puhdistavaa, ja jolloin viihdyn jopa tunteja löylyn lämmössä. Minulla on aina omat rituaalit jotka teen saunaan astuessa.
