    "So 2000's" hits differently when you realize they filmed this on top of one of the World Trade Center buildings 11 months before 9/11.

      Yeah. What's even more eerie - the video was awarded at 2001 VMA's, and then Fred got a thank you letter and a fruit basket from the Port Authority of NYC, for featuring the building in the video - it arrived the day before the attack.

    Wes Borland really emphasized the Rock in this genre. He and Brad Delson (Linkin Park), never compromised the Rock element of the "Rap Rock" genre.

    • @Triple-Four

      It's called Nu-Metal and it has bands like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Slipknot, Korn, Papa Roach, Powerman 5000, Static X and hundreds more. Slipknot and Linkin Park are the ones who really put this genre on the map while the bands that followed kept it alive.

    • @TrentonHawk
      @TrentonHawk 8 месяцев назад +9

      Brad Delson is the reason why I started to play guitar. Of course there are others that inspired me to learn to play, but Brad from Linkin Park was my niche. My first guitar was a PRS that I still play today. Nice to see other's recognize the lesser thought of guitarist in HUGE bands (especially Nu-Metal) like Wes and Brad!

    I miss music like this. It was for sure fun. Yeah, I was a senior in HS when this came out, such an interesting time in music looking back on it. It's funny, because all throughout the 90s the whole thing was pushing back on censorship and LB was a huge middle finger to that group that was saying it was music, movies, and games that were screwing up the kids. You can hear that a lot in Eminem's early music too. Sad to think censorship ultimately won, because music that just didn't give a F is gone.

    You know, you mention who much you like 2000s music and yet haven't seen one of those songs that has all these same elements but that you haven't mentioned yet. That being Kid Rock "Bawitdaba" and "Cowboy." The first is a banger I would put up against any of the day (or since) along with lots of fun and the second slipping right into that fun category you mentioned.
    I might also add--as I'm absolutely sure people have mentioned before--you've still got at least two songs that compete right up there with "Rollin." Those being "Nookie" and "Break Stuff." Every time I hear one of these, I say to myself this is the best Bizkit song, until I hear the other one. And as good as "My Generation" is, it's a bit of a step down from the other big three.
    BTW: LOVE the fun you have with this genre! And just noticed I kind of said the same thing said in the second paragraph in an earlier comment from over a month ago. Yes, I'm a multi-time listener to the reactionaries ( ;-) ) I watch.

    If you are going to go down the Limp Bizkit rabbit hole they have a lot of super fun super 2000s songs that just rock but also you HAVE to check their cover of Behind Blue Eyes - they can actually sing beautifully too.
    If you want a fun song thats probably even more relevant now days My Generation.
    Also if you want a song that hits different as you get older check out Almost Over.
