About: Howto & Style
Spoiler: You just made the greatest Sketchers ad of all time
An ad that calls Skechers lame, a copycat, mentions that Skechers actually got sued for it, and mentions that Skechers are for people who don't know any better.
Yet they ARE more comfortable. @@sepg5084
@@sepg5084 I know people say sketchers are lame, but they sure as hell are comfy.
@@sepg5084 Clearly the common people know that skechers are better than other over priced brands.
@@sepg5084 Don't know any better? No. Don't know about the other shoes. Which aren't "better".
Why would I care about the other shoes if they're less comfortable? Sketchers are basically Ancient Rome: they copy others and beat them at their own game, improving on the original.
Sketchers is out here copying homework AND somehow getting a better grade
😮😂🆗
most people dont know and they dont care its crazy 😂
Its precisely because they've copied everyone's homework that they've got the highest grade
Its unethical
Skechers mostly uses memory insoles which wears out in 4-6 months. And that's when you feel their cushioning is not great at all. That's why out of the box they feel more comfortable but in the long run they are meeeeh. Some of their new cushioning system is very good though.
The main thing Skechers does better than other brands is the width of the toe box. They actually make foot shaped footwear...not quite at the level of barefoot shoes but a lot better than "real" shoe brands. The cushioning is just the icing on the comfort cake.
no, they do not. stop misleading. Skechers shoes are so obviously not "foot-shape"
@@bubblegumtycoon2983 Actually you are misleading, Skechers are in most cases wider than usual shoes. I have a wide feet and I know the difference. I dont understand why are generally almost all brands doing shoes so narrow.
Skechers normal width shoes are more like other brands wide width shoes. I am very picky about my shoes and have wide feet. The last 10 years I've been buying New Balance wide width sneakers. I was very disappointed that the 2 or 3 styles from NB, I had been wearing for years, they discontinued last year.
Last week, I bought I finally bought a new pair (probably a year overdue). I started from scratch and tried on every brand. I like sneakers that have good cushioning, good arch support, with a high heel and are still light (also under $100- preferably under $70). I liked the Skechers width and cushioning but their heel didn't fit quite right for my feet, so I didn't end up getting them.
@@SpiderETYup. Same here. I don't think I'v ever fit into a single adidas or puma without my toes getting destroyed (just like the guy in this video). Reebok used to be that way as well but have since widened theirs over the past decade or two.
And it's not as though I buy wide versions of shoes, those are too roomy for me (brooks being a good example).
When I used to work in kitchens, the two most popular shoes were sketchers and Birkenstock because 1) they were comfortable for hours on your feet 2) they could take a beating 3) non-slip
True I wore sketchers for 8 years before knowing about barefoot shoes and I remember no shoes were fitting me beside skechers cause of my wide feet, I am size 12us 47eu 29cm
I know basically nothing about sneaker trends these days, but I went in to a shoe store the other week and left with two pairs of Sketchers simply because they were the only ones that fit my wide feet without putting pressure on my toes. And yes, they are still just as comfy
100% the main reason I own 6 pairs of Sketchers!
Yes, i bought a pair in Kyoto, Japan. Unfortunately, in my country, wide feet models are not available. All shoes should be wide feet, The traditional shoe shapes just not for human feet!
@@ZxSpectrumplus Shoes used to always come in various widths. Seems like most no longer do that.
@@williampotter2098 I've compared shoes marked as being different widths and found some brands there is little or no difference. In some brands, all shoe widths are built on the same sole.
Skechers advertises having a special line of wide shoes. I have a difficult time finding shoes to fit my wide feet and have been wanting to try them. Thanks for sharing your info.
It kind of makes sense, some of these like the Reebok, adidas and Nike are classic models that haven’t been updated or changed in too many ways if at all, but when sketchers decided to copy those shoes and make their own version, they could add their latest comfort tech if they wanted since they weren’t just retroing a classic model.
I feel like brands should be making their retro releases more comfortable because why wouldn’t they want to?
They have been updated. Now the big brands use shitty materials so they can keep the price down. Most of the classic models are way less comfortable now then they were in the past.
@@debusen81 because they want to keep the price down and people are still going to buy them.
@@TheGnariman😂 you’re not lying
Except "their tech" is rip-off Boost, React & Fresh foam. They actually invent Nothing!
Neat video Eliot! But I was hopping you would have done a reversal round. Like, you switch with Dylan after and you try on the shoes blind folded would have been neat. Also, I love your ensemble today!
I have been watching you on and off for almost 4 or five years now. I can’t remember the first video I watched but I think you only had 25,000 subs and maybe 2-3 years before‘the bug’ hit. I wouldn’t consider myself a sneakerhead by any means but out of the shoe reviewers, I enjoy your and Seth Fowler’s videos in terms of shoe reviews.
I hope you will do more videos like this in the near future and test more 3D printed shoes. I am excited for more videos!
I never noticed Skechers were copycats. $100 is not a cheap shoe. They managed to charge 2x-3x what no-name Amazon Chinese sneakers cost and people willingly pay it. I HAVE noticed that the Skechers my wife and kids have owned wear out quickly. The soles are made of soft foam so they wear down quick and are slippery compared to more rubberized soles.
I used to wear sketchers as a kid, but I can't stand sketchers anymore since I got more seriously into running. I really hate the soft foams while running. Stiffer foams feel way more responsive. Sketchers are nothing more than glorified work shoes IMO. They're decent at that at least. I'm not even sure if the sketchers would survive my half marathon trail runs I do for training. 😂
You need to get the Sketchers that has those black rubber on the soles, rather than the ones with full foams. Full outsole foams wear out very quickly, the rubber doesn't.
@@Male_Parent That's true. Sketchers is more of a walking shoe, i.e. the one you get when you're doing a road trip to Europe.
It all depends on the shoe. I still wear ones I've had for years and only have to change the insole, but will agree many are not made as well as they used to be.
I expect that will get worse now that Sketchers was bought by another company.
I have been wearing Skechers for about 20 years now. I love the arch support and the memory foam insoles. I have worn Nike and New Balance and recently bought a pair of Hoka to see what all the fuss was about. I still prefer Skechers and will be trying their OnCloud knockoff next.
Sketchers are very comfy. They also have great outlet sales. Not trendy but comfy well made shoes for people on a budget.
They don't last long though.
@@Drownedinblood Tbh, what lasts long nowadays? Everything is made like crap.
@@匿名的-1 My watch.
@@DrownedinbloodWaches wont look good in the foot i guess? 🤔
I concur.
Skechers are hands down the most comfortable shoes I have owned. Unpretentious and utilitarian, I always go for their models that use GOGAMAT and never go for their MEMORY FOAM models. It's just a world of difference and Gogamat is what makes Skechers. I have purchased many different styles of Skechers since 2012 where they had "chelsea" styles and other styles that have since been removed from their lineup. Bought them where I could find them in Manila, Hong Kong, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Phnom Penh, Vancouver....from beach slippers, chelseas, lace up sneakers, golf shoes and their usual slip ons. I am happy to see from this great video by Elliot that Skechers are coming up with or "copying" more styles now as there was a couple of years when their lineup was dreary and seemed to be a dying brand with retail outlets closing etc.....I'm glad they are back with a vengeance.
The reason I like Skechers is exactly what was found here: the comfort. They also make wide versions of nearly every shoe, which is a huge benefit. Plus, they make some of the best slip-ons with reinforced heels.
They definitely make some original designs, but I can't fault them for seeing something good and making a more comfortable yet cheaper competitor. Competition is good for us, the consumer.
Love their slip-ins! Wearing a pair now.
Comfort and price is what I find good about Sketchers and like all shoe if you wear them enough they wear out no matter how high you put on the price which doesn't justify it in my opinion.
The comfort ‘Skechers’ offers is actually unmatched, all the people around me from a generation before wouldn’t prefer any other brand and it is surprisingly very durable.
I found the tread wears down quickly on sketchers. Going to try a different model.
I did not know anything about the Sketches business model but after wearing Reboks and Nikes for 20+ years, I went on a Sketchers store last year and left with 2 pairs of very, very, very comfortable shoes. I thought I would always by Sketchers from that time on. And I still like the shoes but It was very interesting learning about them.
Elliot you should have given him one time BOTH of the same shoes 😂
Their Go Walk slip-ons are comfy as heck and easy to put on. Perfect for those with mobility issues or the elderly.
I've never went out of my way to get Skechers, but somehow, I have like 6 or 7 pairs of them. They are definitely comfortable shoes and I've been attracted to the styling, not really paying attention to the fact that they may be a knock-off. I once bought a pair of Hoka, just because I really liked the styling - and as it turned out it was the most uncomfortable shoe I've ever owned. I wore them for a few hours at a family event, and my arches were raw. I returned them - and never again will I buy them. I have one pair of Under Armor, 2 pairs of Vans (which are very comfortable) - and I have 2 pair of Saucony hiking shoes which super-comfortable and, IMHO, are unbeaten for casual hiking, however, for everyday just knocking around, I'm in my Skechers. Love them.
I’ve been wearing Sketchers for almost 15 years. Tennis shoes, running shoes, golf shoes, hiking shoes, pickleball shoes, and casual knock-arounds. Over the years they have constantly and consistently upgraded their fit and comfort. IMO, you cannot go wrong with a pair of Skechers.
One note, I am a brand name shoe companies worst nightmare… I do not give a royal rip which athlete or famous influencer has their name on a shoe. In point of fact I avoid those shoe like the plague as I know they will be horribly overpriced.
Excellent video and a great, inadvertent, add for Skechers!
do you have any friends?
I’m glad you didn’t reveal the answer until the very end, I feel a lot of times with blind tests it becomes a game of reverse psychology like “well if it was Left this time, then maybe the Right could be it this time”
thisss! 💯
As a non-sneaker head, I had *NO* idea that Skechers were a "dupe" brand. I thought they were just another shoe brand. I recently bought my first pair of Skechers and now I wonder what dupe I'm wearing! Are *ALL* Skechers shoes dupes? Or just most? Or just some? Had no idea. Would it stop me from ever buying another Skechers shoe? Meh, not really.
I'm in the same boat, this video just turned up in my recommendations and it came as a bit of a surprise as well. I can vouch for their comfort though, I use one of their Go Walk Slip In models as my daily and it legitimately feels like I'm walking on clouds. I will say one downside as other commenters have pointed out is that the soles do wear down quite quickly, which is a shame and I do hope they fix that.
@@Qwurty566 This video showed up randomly in my recommendations, too. I'll be sure to keep an eye and see how long my soles last with these shoes.
Sketchers walking shoes are unique ever since they advertise it in my country and no other brand has that, comfy and easy to wear. Running shoes are pretty much all the same to me for all brand who cares which one originally did the design as long as its comfortable and the price is good.
same here, I thought it should be a decent brand, didn't know they actually "copy" so many of others' design. Such a let down on that part.
@@zero1breaker I laughed quite a bit when my dad showed me his "no hands to equip" sketchers. It was the definition of a dad-shoe. Now I own two pairs, and I plan to buy more of them in the future.
IDC about their sneakers, since I only wear their casual-ish/formal-ish shoes (stuff you would wear to an office job, with jeans and a shirt/T-shirt).
We need more brands like Skechers.
They're bringing real value to society by calling the bluff on branded shoes. That's definitely liberation.
They do have to get ready to be sued because Skechers is infamous for copying.
I have two pairs of Skechers and I must say, when I bought them 4 years back, everywhere I heard ... it's for grannies .... but you know what? They are still comfy and durable as hell, they still go after 4 years :D
My Sketchers completely fell apart after just 6 months. Worst shoe I ever had aside from the out of the gate comfort. Shoes of other brands, that I'm used to, typically need to be broken in a couple of days to reach the maximum comfort level. But when they are, most of them surpass the Sketchers comfort, which only went down from when I bought them.
"For grannies" means you don't run in them or do other sports. It's not performance shoes.
I have the same experience with you! I barely buy shoes because my Skechers last so long, at least 3-4 years or more. And when it does start showing signs of wear and the sole starts to separate, I can still put it back with some shoe glue and make it last another 1-2 years. I've tried wearing other shoe brands, Nike Adidas New Balance On.. but at the end of the day, if I know I need to travel or walk for a long time like at least 12,000-20,000 steps or more, I will always choose to wear my Skechers! While my friends are wearing another brand and suffering from foot pain by the time we hit 8k-10k steps, I could still walk just fine. And by the evening, I don't have any foot pain at all. I love Skechers!
4 years for sneakers ? Wow . I walk so much a physical therapist I know told me that my shoes should Never have an anniversary .
Yeah, I don't know why people acting like Skechers fall apart easily. What are they doing with their shoes? Digging a hole?
15:47 a little bit addition: it's actually mainly for people who seeks comfort. i live in a third world country (but has one of the biggest population in the world) where sneaker hype wasn't as big, so whenever I asked people of all ages on what shoe brand they would choose and why, 90% would answer "Skechers, because comfy" in a heartbeat.
Third world country but has one of the biggest population that most of them extensively wear skechers
+62 kah ? 😄😄
i was like "meh, maybe a marketing gimmick", but Skechers end up being the first genuine article i bought after trying one because its like they put the comfiest foam ever.
Warga +62 😂
Pasti orang konoha nih
Nothing wrong with comfort😂
amazing content!
as a consumer who just want a good product not brand this will help me a lot when choosing the next casual shoes
15:40 I'll tell you the real reason, the one and only real reason. Comfort. I know about all these other shoes and I got the money for em. It's just purely about comfort. I would pay $20 more for Sketchers over Nike, contingent on the Sketchers being similar good looking and more comfortable.
if you try sketchers slip-ins you will wish that all other sneakers have that system! it's that good , and that simple! and comfort is really great, as you can see in this video!
In my experience, Sketchers Air shoes are very comfy, but also kinda not durable. They wear out in a year and a half on average, but also keep in mind that I wear them around 8 months per year on average. They really are worth your money.
Can we please get links to all the Skechers in this video, I'm perfect budget pricing but quality products and have been looking for some nice shoes for my wife and I for everyday use and workouts. Great video btw!
So I just bought my first pair of Skechers in Jan 2025. I was with my 4yr old son at an obstacle course in an outlet mall, my 7 yr old Adidas fell apart I guess from old age even though they looked brand new. I needed shoes ASAP and the Skechers store was right next to the obstacle course, I went and bought a pair of the slip on ones. Now it's June and I have a total of 4 pairs. I use them as my daily drivers when I have to walk/play a lot with my 4 yr old. I still have my Nike's, Adidas, Reebok's, Timberlands etc for going out. But for my day to day you can't beat the comfort and convenience of the slip on style sneakers of Skechers. They don't look great but they don't need to they are my "dad shoes".
Light up light up sketchers they say, honestly sketchers are one of the most comfortable sneakers I've ever tried.
I love Skechers! They're all I've worn for the last 5 years. They won me over with their Arch-Fit series, but I've bought other lines of theirs too. They're the most consistently comfortable shoe for me, which is important since I tend to stay on my feet for 12 plus hours a day while working.
I love max cushioning and hyper burst series. It felt like I walk on a couch.
People hate on Skechers but their GoWalk line is some of the most comfortable shoes I've ever put on my feet.
Regular people associate soft sole = comfortable. But it’s actually horrible for you in long run. It has lack of stability. Big brands can make softer sole, but they don’t. Bcs it’s not good actually
Skechers be like: designing is for noobs, we do tech
Skechers are not really that cheap, like everyone always claims. But correct- they are better than the other brands in every single way, especially fit and comfort.
Better in every way? Hardly but you drink that kool-aid
some of the models, usually the single or two tone B&W colored ones are always offered as a discount which makes it really cheap compared to the others.
In Europe they are literally half the price of competitors most of the time. Sadly, at least in my experience, the quality of the shoe reflects that. They maximize for how comfortable the shoe feels when you're trying them on, but it's all downhill after the purchase. The comfort gets worse over time, instead of improving like it typically does for other brands, and they fall apart after a few months of usage.
@@markuskonrad6049 few months of continous or non-athletic (and not daily walker) usage?
I walked daily like 30 minutes and so does my family and my family had their skechers, although worn, still held up well for 8 years.
I walked just occassionally but my skechers, although a bit dusty, still held up well in year 2, though i sometimes switched up with a glued-on and insole-added Airwalk slip ins.
I am a sales rep for Skechers and 1% of what we sell are copies. The Big volume is on our classics styles that are not "trendy" but sells!
Confort is the main focus. Ask Harry Kane Who won the golden boot wearing Skechers ;)
Your "Classics" are Rip-off Copies too. It's just been so long few remember. You've achieved comfy utilizing existing foam formulas, crank out wides for the obese & pushed shoes the laziest can put on without bending over, great! Are free Donuts with every purchase coming soon?
@@christiangeddes241 Skechers are actually different from other brands making shoes for casual wear. They just copy a design but the purpose is for casual wear which is pretty unique for an American company. While other brands like Nike adopt their sports shoes into casual style which is not a good idea because sports shoes designed for say skateboarding ARE SIMPLY NOT COMFORTABLE for walking and standing. Adidas’ super narrow shoes were designed to kick a ball with precision. These shoes were adopted for casual style but they are not comfortable for casual wear.
@@christiangeddes241 Skechers aren't 'wide for the obese'. It's regulars shoes that are narrow. Too narrow for normal feet. Also, shoes that slip on easy are just marketing genius. I'm an active guy, I always take the stairs over an elevator, I wouldn't buy an e-bike, but I would like shoes that slip on easy.
By the way, I'm 55 and have been interested in shoes my whole life, and I can tell you that many of Skechers shoes are not copies. In fact, I'd say it's pretty clear because man, those shoes generally really are quite ugly. The shoes they did copy from other brands mostly look okay though.
@@christiangeddes241So you're saying they have a good business model that aims at more target audiences then the "brand" names. How terrible.
And no, most of thier catalog consists of generic work/casual shoes that the styling couldnt be attributed to a single company; A black or white shoe with a "S" and maybe a squiggly line down the side lmfao.
They do massive discounted volume sales to restaurants/hospitals/other work places. That is their bread and butter and has been for a long time.
@@winebartender6653 I bought my first pair of “regular” Skechers last year to use in physical therapy. But I’ve had multiple pairs of Skechers work shoes and kitchen clogs that I pretty much wore to death. One of my kids is a line cook and they wear their work Skechers, too.
I still have one pair of clogs that I wear in the winter because they’re not just comfortable (except for the inescapable greenhouse effect) but still totally non-slip, which is useful in an area that mostly gets rain or ice in winter.
8:30 "left foot wins?" "yeah, left foot wins for a mile"... And announced the right foot being the comfortable one, lol
What was the name of that model of Skechers @ 13:00 , the one that's the most comfortable show ever? I want to try track it down and try it
Max Cushioning .. there is a load of designs of them (Endeavour - the one in the test, Propulsion, Premiere, Suspension .... )
I have been using only Skechers shoes for over 12 years now. Been through 8-9 runing shoes (1000+ km in each), One trail and like 5-6 everyday walk series shoes, even 2 more formal shoes. All have been great. I am a big fan.
The Skechers slant is what bothered me the most and the only reason I stopped using Skechers. Glad someone else experienced it too, I thought I was the only one.
A bit too sketchy hey?
sketchers started as orthopedic shoes, your feet might be busted
@@tehevilengineer7939 my feet are cooked just like me. how're you going bro?
The slant is the only reason I can’t wear sketchers, too! I have never heard anyone else mention it until now.
@@jewelsbarbie what do you reckon is the reason for this slant? feet pronation?
which skechers model that compared to hoka bondi 6? i tried searching there's none of that color.
What a fantastic video broo.!! I had so much fun watching this, and the guy who helped you out in the video, kudos to him for being such a sport! Great work El 🙌🏻
This test would not work too well for me because my feet are different and one gets pain while the other doesn't. But i think it's a nice demonstration anyway.
Sketchers has some "specialties" that i like. For example my new pair of Skechers Slip-ins RF: Revolted - Merrick Trekkingsandals. The easy Slip-in was the USP for me.
I don't care if they copy with their other shoes - i buy these really special ones (that are no copies at all as far as i know), and otherwise i only buy Nike. Just got me some Air Max Dn8, a pair of Air Max 97 By You and Air Max Plus By You...
Can you give the name and source of the HOKA like Sketchers? I tried to find it but could not find that one for Men...
What shorts are you wearing in this Elliot? I love the almost crochet style.
they're from Saalt Studio
Elliot, I LOOOOVVVEEE content like this! Outstanding job. Hopefully we see more uploads like this. This helped me also understand why they are so successful off of “copycats”. Style and comfort is the motto I guess. They will definitely be around forever.
Oh and let’s not forget the price. It’s a win win… still not sure about buying a pair though lol 😂
I didn't know Sketchers just copy designs, but this video just motivated me to check them out.
Hey Elliot, What slides are you wearing? The look really similar to the yeezy slides
An interesting twist would be to test the longevity of sketchers vs the others. Like for example, the new balance 550s use a board last which makes them less comfortable off the rip but increases longevity and molds to your foot eventually. While the sketchers I’m sure used some cheep foam last that will bottom out and lose comfort over time. Plus the uppers in general of the sketchers seem like they won’t last long
But you can buy more sketchers and not break the bank. The average person runs through Skechers for that reason alone. Only RUclips sneakerheads want one sneaker to last 100 years😂
Well, my skechers broke down after eight years. The upper is still decent, but the outsole is done for. Wore them through high school all the way through college. Idk about you but eight years is a long time for me.
ngl, that board is lowkey ass, Cork gives way better performance
I agree that 550's wear in. New they are absolutely horrible on feet but after wearing them for a bit they become pretty decent on feet.
@@blackwolforder23I dont want my sneakers to last 100 years. I want my sneaker to support my feet even a year after purchase.
I was so surprised by the hoka one! I'll have to reconsider my running shoes, and go try the sketchers ones now. I can't actually imagine anything being more comfortable 🤯
Make "long wear test" like 5k steps, 10k steps, 25k steps if there is any difference. Will be bit subjective but would be fun to know how the handle usage. I personally feel that some major brand models have been cheapened out on. I have AF1 from 07 that feel much better than AF1 from 2020+
1:19 The time i aged above 30, i preferred skechers for my feet. Bought one shown here in the time stamp and it's perfect. No regrets.
Love this kind of content Elliott!
I bought my first pair of On’s 15 years ago as I was walking around on vacation and my shoes gave me the worst blisters I’ve ever had and this tiny shoe store had this new brand of shoes and I’ll never buy another brand of tennis shoes again. They saved me that day and I still have them. I have their slip On’s, running shoes and court shoes. On’s are my ride or die tennies!!! Love them so much!
The fact that the cheap copy brand is still $100 is utterly demoralizing.
They are not always $100!
And the quality is not great either
Skechers are the most comfortable brand of trainer I've ever worn. Working on my feet all day and the memory foam, extra chsioning lightweight makes a big difference
Please, how do i find the exact model Skechers, on min. 5:50 in Europe?
I wonder how they would compare after wearing for a few days. The Hoka Bondi, I'd be willing to bet, would be better in the long run. Though I certainly enjoy my SlipIns as does my wife. I think they’ve come a long way over the years and their walking and running shoes are quite good and not that cheap.
Yup. i own Skechers slip-ins too. It's a comfy walking shoes but when i tried it for long distance walking, my feet felt fatigue after 5k steps. After that i choose hoka for long distance running and walking and it supports me way better.
Both serves different purposes.
I think it's funny that the Skechers were the "bargain" shoe, even though they were $130. I usually try to get something in the $45 to $80 price range. I try to catch sales, where the $90-$100 shoe is on sale for $70-80 or the $80 sneaker is on sale for $60-65.
Thanks for the informative video. Showing a profile of his foot would have helped including a pic from the side and top (did I hear flat feet?). I also would have liked to know the price of each pair. One thing we can't tell from this comparison is durability. I own seven Sketchers, one of which fell apart rather quickly - it's a pair I still wear to wash my car. I own 16 pairs of what I call every-day shoes and three pairs of dress shoes. Hi-Tec used to be my budget brand, now it's Sketchers. Why so many shoes? I'm a college professor and professional photographer so I try to match shoes to clothes for the day. A lot of my shoes fall in the casual every-day shoe category, and trail runners/hikers/back packing shoes. BTW this didn't include multiple specialty shoes - rock climbing (4), mountaineering boots (2) and softball cleats (1).
I'm 67 years old and own four Skechers pairs: Andes, Go Run Premier 2.0 Vantage, Go Walk 6 series Avalon, and Bold Knight. In addition, I have one pair of Hoka Bondi 8, New Balance 1080 V14, New Balance Arishi V4, and Onitsuka Tiger GSM SD each. Each pair has its own strengths and weaknesses. I place a higher value on comfort than on appearance.
is the Skechers slide step 2.0 banned on youtube? i can't find any video about them, they look so much like cloudsurfer
Man, you’re really out of touch if you think Sketchers are “cheap.” The fact that you “never heard” of them before speaks volumes.
Elliot where did you get those shorts?
Give Sketchers their props! My son rocks one!
They are very comfortable and have quite an ok longevity if you take care of them. If comfort is your main concern then they are good shoes.
They don't last very long if you abuse / harsh using it.
From my personal experience.
Thanks, Im gonna cop one of those Max cushioning Skechers.
Great video! And very much needed content. Thank you for making it. It would be awesome to see how thoses shoes fair against one another after, let's say, one (1) year of wear and tear. Kudos on making great videos.
All i can say i have been wearing skechers for years. Skechers are good comfort walking shoes BUT i often feel fatigue after walking 5000 steps and beyond.
Skechers is a good comfort shoes but lack the support for running or long distance walking.
So if i choose to run, i would still choose a nike, asics or hoka or whatever. These shoes actually support me well beyond.
what pants are you wearing in the video they look so nice PLEASE I need them
Yes. I have too many Skechers 😂😂😂. I just got myself the Evo SL. But had I watched your video before buying it, I might have gone for the cushion max instead 🤣.
you can pair your evo SL with Skechers Aero Burst like me XD
What shoe model was the skechers vs hoka one?
we all buying sketchers with this one 🔥🔥🔥🔥
What model are the ON Running shoes that won their round?
As casual shoes, Sketchers are great. They are "designed" for 100% comfort. But for those folks that DEMAND performance, it is better to stick with the original.
i second you.
Is it though? This is the goyslop bugman mentality that only the famous or more expensive brand name could possibly be authentic or better. In many cases the simply isn't the case. In others, the cheaper item isn't quite as good but adequate, and the extra expense isn't worth it. This is especially true in longevity. If a shoe costs half as much but last 51% as long, you're still coming out ahead.
@@Heimdallr-14h88 It is all about the level of performance/tolerance you expect. If you are just walking around, anything will do. But when you are a runner trying to shave off a few seconds, yeah, it matters.
@@machone539 Then why does nobody prove this with a double blind marathon? Oh right, because other shoes do just fine as long as they have adequate fit, flex, and traction, and they do.
@@Heimdallr-14h88 Easy. Show me a PRO wearing Sketchers winning x race.
Can’t believe you didn’t list the actual shoe models 😡 What is the orange Sketchers model that won against the Hoka @7:48 ??
Bape walked so sketchers could run 😂
You have that the other way around.
Wrong. Skechers (La Gear) did it first
I always have at least one pair of Sketchers in my shoe rotation, and for work it's exclusively Sketchers due to wider toe boxes and marshmallow insoles. They do have original designs which are actually quite nice as well as the knockoffs.
what a cool experiment, thanks for the awesome video
Great video! I've been wearing Skechers for many, many years and love them.
It’s a bit of a moot point as Skechers are designed for comfort whereas not all the other styles are for comfort. Skechers has the comfort but not the better technology otherwise.
i mean sneakers in general should be designed for comfort first. its your feet we're talking about here. you wear shit sneakers and all of a sudden you whole body aches at the end of the day
Yeah. Like Jordan 4s.... everybody loves them but they are Not comfy at all.@@prodby_oneil
Bruh, only two sneaker tech matter.
1) performance
2) COMFORT
So other than hoka, Skechers has better tech for everything else
@@animealpha4795 i'd argue durability and maybe "quality" of material matter too, but not for every sneaker/shoe out there
@@prodby_oneil Wrong. Modern running sneakers are very uncomfortable for walking.
Love those shorts Elliot, what brand are they?
what brand is the treadmill, share the amazon link?
Would love an under armour vs sketchers comparison! I have On shoes and they are great but my long time go to prior to On was under armour
At work, we are standing all day. We all think Sketchers are uncomfortable. Most of our shift is in Reebok Flexweave or New Balance 598.
Sketchers is a marketing company like Dr Scholls. They sell squish - which people think is comfort. True comfort is supportive, your feet not hurting after a 10 hr shift, and no joint pain or plantar fasciitis after months of use. Something soft but not supportive will wear you out as you constantly have to compensate for the lack of support. If you look at a Sketchers box, they are overdesigned and have stickers on them like "Danger! Extremely Comfortable!" so they stand out on the shelf and when you put them on and try them for a minute or two at the store, they are squishier than the rest. The first impression is how Sketchers makes their sale.
Well after four years of using their cheapest Go Walk for doing precisely that for 8km each morning I have no complaints. Now retired, but for work I always used good quality English formal leather Oxfords and did so for 10 to 16 hours a day without problems, never been in the habit of buying something for the label.
I wear Skechers at work.... They are fine. Other brands... Not the same....
@@steveseaman7794 And some in our shifts walk 10-15 miles each day pulling or pushing 100 to 500 pound carts and pallet jacks. And still hate Sketchers. Sorry, their words are worth way more than yours.
Can anyone please tell me the product full name or link of the skechers uno shoes? 😊
Title question: yes
Skechers copies and makes it better. They make built in shoehorn (slip ins) on silhouettes they copy. That's already a plus for making the disabled and elderly match the trend without bending till their back breaks. Slip ins are the best
The second is they're most probably cheaper than the ones they copy. That's like buying replicas but the brand makes them legit. Again, replica or real, unless the shoe is for pure performance advantage, shoes are shoes.
After watching the video:
Yes of course. I forgot no3: skechers started off as pure mesh and running court shoes. So they focused on comfort. Even their insoles are memory foam. When they started copying, they copied the silhouettes and made their twist with the comfort
Your conclusion is spot on, I've been wearing Skechers for years because of comfort and it's memory foam tech, which I need due to my feet. I'm a simple dude and I don't know anything about shoe fashion. I didn't realise they were copying other brands! which I don't approve. I like companies who innovate and are original, but yes, they are very comfy. The first time I realised Skechers is copying is when I was looking into On shoes as an alternative and they have a copy. I'm buying the On but after watching your vid, I will check out the Hoka copy as I am looking for comfy shoes for walking. :)
The amount of times he said left, but the b roll showed right, was infuriating.
For me it was slip-in part. I always scrape back of the shoe with my ankle. I tryed it on in shop because of some stupid ad but as i took few steps it was must buy for me. It is second pair in my life where my ankle dont ruin the shoes. First one was some nike running shoes with whole back made without platic "wall" but just soft stuff. One more thing to add is that it is really comfy for the achilles with that foam in the back.
Don’t you need to wear both sides of each? Not one of each on each foot?
Yeah but then the video would be 40 minutes long
You have no idea how badly I needed this video. Thank you so much!!
What's the name of the Hoka copy?
Original shoes like New Balance ( for skateboarders) or Adidas ( for soccer players) were designed for specific use case when they are not comfortable for walking. For example Adidas shoes are too narrow because they are soccer shoes designed to kick a ball with precision. New Balance shoes are too heavy because for skateboarders it is better to keep a balance on a board. But Skechers doesn’t care about that specific use case and just makes shoes for walking with better comfort. By the way ON Cloud shoes are also designed for casual wear that is why they are better because they are more expensive.
I have a pair of slip-on max cushioning Sketchers and they are very comfortable for my casual walking. I also have a pair of Hoka Bondi 9's which are much more cushioned and comfortable than the Bondi 8's you used. I think his conclusion might be different if he was comparing the Sketchers to the Bondi 9's. Or not.
Sketchers shoes are usually light and soft insole to let the users feel the softness.
Alot of ppl thought that soft feel = comfort. It's good for walking until u go for a run in soft sole shoes
100% ,because Skechers has initial comfort due to softer soles, when you 'break them in' they no longer give you the support needed, whereas the originals become 'more' comfortable after the 'break in' period and have greater longevity, especially when used for the purpose they're designed for, as per your example.
I have shoe wideners that I can use to make shoes wider for my wide feet. Skechers does make some shoes that are wide enough and comfortable for me without the wideners.
I'll never understand why shoes cost $100 or more?
Like, wtf? They cost 15 to make..
A good pair with real leather costs that 100 bucks. But yeah. Alot are rip offs.
@@Kiamors if they are made in the US, Canada or Europe? Sure... I'll agree with you.
If it's made in China? Or anywhere in Asia? I don't know man.. they probably made it for $ 30-40 rest of it is marketing, shipping and profits.
But sure, i can see a really good pair of leather shoes costing a $100..
But crocs? That didn't cost more than ¢50 in materials.
Rest of the shoes couldn't have cost more than $10 maybe 20..
These companies are really making bank.
@AdmiralSP yeah I would never pay full price for cross.
I bought my first Sketchers in 1998. Now, sketchers is my staple walking/daily shoes as it’s comfortable and the cushioning is soft. But for running I choose Saucony for it’s fitting like gloves’ and cushion performance, for hiking I choose Kailas. So, it’s not just comfort, but functionality to match it.
Just say that Skechers are for people that don't know sneakers is ridiculous. Especially in this comparison video the Skechers that are more comfortable and look virtually the same that are in some cases half the price, if you pay double for a less comfortable sneaker that looks the same, do you really know sneakers? You know how to be a poser, you know how to waste money you know how to feel better because you bought a certain name brand, but it doesn't really say you know anything about footwear really kind of the opposite.
You can get On shoes on sale quite frequently. They have a ton of different models with different upper geometry and sole firmness. I'm using mostly their Cloudmonster 2 for long walks, and it has done wonders for my knee and back issues.
I love my cloudmonster2 shoes. 😊
I purchased mid ranged sketchers a year ago for everyday wear. I’m older not hard on shoes and sketchers only lasted about 6 months and started coming apart after around 3 months mark. I’ll stick to my long time go to ASICS.
But how is that difference when you walk a week in each one? Cheap shoes often feel comfortable when you put them on for 2 minutes, but when you wear them for a week all joints hurt, while more expensive shoes seem to wear in better and last longer.
i get what you mean, but Skechers has mastered the comfort aspect because that's the reason why they're still relevant even amongst the giants. what i mean to say is: they have the capability to create a comfortable shoe that lasts very long. i still wear my pair for 7 years until it finally broke. its that comfortable.
@@kanomeebut have you also worn the "real" shoe for the same amount of time? Would they have lasted longer?
The only people I know that even consider Sketchers are the people that can't care less about shoes. They just want a simple shoe that will last a few months and have a low pricetag.
If they are tested for a while, where both pairs get worn in by the same person and worn the same amount of time. And the wear can be shown for both shoes, then if Sketchers wins, all good. But as long as they are tested for 2 minutes, in many cases the cheap shoe from Nike will also be nicer in store than the more expensive one is.
@@kanomeelike for me, if I do 1 year of dogwalks in a Air Max 90, it will have holes in it. But after a week or so, they somehow become comfortable enough.
Then I got the NB 990v3, had to replace the insole after 2 years because the cushion was worn down, but after that 10 euro fix, they are still going and this is their third year. No holes, nothing.
I walk anout 3-8km per day with the dog (he is 13 and can't walk in extreme heat and sometimes he is having bad days, so 3-8 is an average)
Now, would a sketchers shoe hold up next to those?
Park paths often come with water, mud, sometimes the need to step into grass..
If you like some serious testing with the shoes in my collection (more than 100 pairs), I can do a video about that
Had my sketchers for 10 years before they died.
Nice video. The last ones are more for indoor sports like basket, volley or badminton. Great to see a cheaper alternative
