Newish to hard Sudoku puzzles, and this is the first one that stumped me-same spot as you. And then I tried to play forward on my own after seeing you get it, and got stumped again on the triple that finally unlocked it. I feel better knowing these weren’t easy to spot for folks who have more experience! And now I have two new solving strategies to look for-thanks!
13:37 for me. No fancy techniques, just the usual pointing/claiming and pairs/triples, but I ended up pencil-marking everything. I often over-annotate, it is often overkill, but here it was kind of necessary.
Another victory for Rangsk's rules: "let's go box by box" and "sometimes you have to pencil everything." Took me forever to find the 567 and I kept refusing to go through all the boxes and pencil.
Tough one today. I had to watch the video to find the next step. I did the usual bands and stacks, double checked each digit for naked singles, looked in boxes for cells limited to 2 or 3, and I didn't catch the 567 in box 6. The 127 triple in row 7 was also something that you caught that I didn't. It seemed like no matter what you found this puzzle wouldn't give up.
I got totally stuck, gave up. I wanted to see how you did it and we both needed to find that 567 naked triple to get unstuck. Very very hard to find that, felt like it required brute force naked candidate marks which I hate doing.
41 minutes, tough, but I just kept plugging away. Found the pairs and triples, but I'm really learning how to look down the rows, and say (in my Rangsk voice): This CAN'T go there so the only place the 4 can go is here. Or: these HAVE to be 9s, therefore these can't be! 😂 that's the part I had been forgetting about! 😊
Found the 172 triple and single 8 😊. Sadly didn't find 267 triple and couldn't finish because only scanning for linear triples. I will remember this video next time I'm stuck!
10:50 Columns 7 and 3 have a skyscraper in 1s, doing some damage. It places 1 in block 9, gives a 18 pair in block 6, and places 9 in block 6. (In the grid as shown, it completes column 7.) 13:40 Having placed 127, the skyscraper is now fully visible. (I saw the skyscraper early, when I was cornermarking 1s. Unfortunately, I didn't notice everything it did.) 18:30 Now, you bypassed the skyscraper. A couple commenters mentioned the 567 triple as essential, so I backtracked to see what was up with it. In my case, the 567 triple appeared unnoticed. I would have placed the 9 in the block earlier.
Took me 50 minutes today and almost gave up a couple of times but I persevered and was able to solve without help AND managed to find that 567 triple on my own. I was like “is that a….? I think maybe it’s a….? Yes! I’m pretty sure this is a triple!!! “.
box triples are not really common in nyt hard. Also a limitation in snyder notation not marking "around corners". that could have isolated the 189 in box six early. overall a tricky one today
Had actually got a couple of cells filled before you did, but totally did not see 1-2-7 triple. Would still be doing the puzzle now if I hadn't watched your video. Thanks

It was actually reassuring to see you stuck as well at that same point

I did this one twice still got stuck at that same spot before coming here for help. Those two triples were hard to find! Thanks!
I feel pleased with my 33:21. Spotting 2 sets of quads helped me a lot. Now to watch Rangsk!
Definitely one of the more tricky ones. I actually found a skyscraper on 1's (bi-local in rows 6+9) which helps get that 567 triple.

Really hard today, took me nearly 30 min!
There was a 189 triple in box 6 (after getting 9 in box 3), with similar outcomes as the 567 triple.

This is really good. Thanks!

Awesome!
Got stuck, needed to find the 567 triple
Dang first one in a while to stump me took me 19:21 😅
That 567 triple broke the puzzle for me too. Wasn’t easy to spot

I found a hidden triple, a skyscraper and a finned x-wing, and still it took forever 😂
Can somebody explain the 567 triple to me I still don’t understand
I eventually saw it by looking a the the intersection of 189's in c9 and r5 looking into box 6. Took me FOREVER to see it though!.
8:53 today, guess I got lucky with my spots because I didn’t find this super hard
kind comment
After reading the comments, I feel a little better. I usually blast through these in under 15 but this one sucked!!
Very very hard
