I have become a fan of the way you are teaching sir and the layer by layer approach that you are taking for each topic !! Very rare to find these kinds of tutorials where someone is clarifying each and every doubt so patiently !!! Keep up the good work sir !!!
It would be great sir if you can help me with some more video links if you have , because I am going to appear for the interview of Commvault organization in upcoming days 🙏That would be a big help for me sir really 🙏
Really a great video! It has cleared most of doubts. One question regarding the data recovery, if suppose I want to perform a tape base recovery on different geographical location which doesn't have access to source MA index cache or disk storage where the index DB has been protected. How it will recreate the index DB on target site? I believe the list media option will only provide the media information that has protected the index log for the respective job and will not provide list of media that is required to rebuild the index DB on DR/target site. I would really appreciate your response. Thanks!
Hi Hitesh VM backups are non indexed\live browse jobs. Jobs metadata is been saved inside commserve DB. Which will show you all backup details. For granular recovery, VMs will be live mounted and data will be restored.
@@CVBackupMasterMinds Thanks for your quick response! However, I haven't referred any specific type of backup. So if you want to explain it considering any backup agent type itself, please consider if I have Windows file system agent backup and I want to recover any file/folder recovery on DR site using tape media.
HI Hitesh, Sorry missed your question. To answer your query, To backup the index DB, we know that there are pseudo clients get created which use same "storage policy " that got applied on subclient(for backup). If on the storage policy you have secondary copy(as u said that you will copy data to tape), the index DB will also have copy on secondary lib (Tape library). So commvault will be able to recover DB and play back action log to it from your tape lib as well.
@@CVBackupMasterMinds It make sense to me. However, when we try to identify the list of media required to perform recovery we usually use 'List media and size' option. I believe that never includes list of media required to rebuild the index DB. Considering real DR scenario where we would not be able to access production site, do we need to import additional tapes at DR site library which were associated with index DB backup images?
In DR scenario, you can restore entire data (no granular recovery)without playing back the action log. You can maintain media report to keep track of admin jobs tapes if required.
