If he can't mic the guitar up, he should see if he can get an L.R. Baggs Lyric put in. Won't be able to get an undersaddle into the J-50 with that bridge, and the Lyric sounds better anyway. :) Don't suppose he's reading this, though. If so, hi James! TheDoctorG That zip will damage the finish and even damage the binding and wood. It's always better not to do any damage to the guitar. Leather jackets like that are really designed for riding motorcycles.

Change the bridge and saddle, remove the adjustable bridge, then put what ever pick up you want in it :-) nice axe :-)

Awesome musician but bad taste in acoustic pick ups :/ should've bought an LR baggs for that old guitar!! Best pickup out there

Looks like a plastic bridge (yes Gibson actually used plastic bridges) change to rosewood bridge and a bone saddle wood give better sound.
I can't believe he hasn't done that, lol!
That J-55 has that nasty hollow plastic bridge with which Gibson built their guitars in the early to mid 60s. Nobody knows why....
