Little Nubs isn't doing very well

- Our last batch of kids were born almost a week ago -- but we're pretty worried about the littlest one.
Hi there! 👋🏻 We live on a 1-acre farm right in the middle of the busy city of Phoenix, Arizona! Our names are Kevin & DaNelle, and we moved here in 2009, when our kids Ethan & Lydia were just 6 & 4 years old 🥰 Over the years we've raised goats for milk, chickens for eggs, built a fish/swim pond, planted fruit & nut trees, and grew a large garden full of veggies. We've also raised a bunch of other animals like pigs, sheep, turkeys, geese, peacocks, and more!
Now that our kids are away at college, we have settled into doing what we love most -- which is raising & breeding goats ethically to improve genetics. But don't worry, we'll forever love our goofy pet goats like Luna the herd queen & Willow the stump lover. We also still love raising chickens for eggs, gardening, tending to the fruit & nut trees, and growing fish in the pond. We use the fresh goat's milk to make cheese, butter, yogurt -- and we use that + everything else we harvest on our little farm to make delicious meals. Having a getaway from the busy world right in our backyard brings so much joy to us each day, and we hope it brings some to you, too. 🥰

Raising animals has its joys and sorrows , I'm sorry he didn't make it but from day one with him me and my daughter both said he didn't look well

I adore how the toddler sleeping pile was perfectly color coordinated. As a person who struggles with various ridiculous symptoms of OCD, I particularly approve of this organized sleeping pile. Well done Toddlers. Next, color sorted and alphabetized by name.
i noticed that too, it was like a gradient from cricket's mostly white to wednesday's almost pure black.

Once I reached middle age, it happens to me too now! I can certainly sympathize with Tilly, watching her grasp for air, it’s very scary for sure!
can agree cause i just got out of yet another lung infection, I didn't realise that i could be seasonal but now that i think back on it. yeah that makes too much sense
Yep. And this year most of the US has had an unseasonably warm, short winter with multiple rapid swings from high temps to below freezing with snow in many places and back warm again. It’s been ESPECIALLY harsh on animals who grow thick winter coats & thus can’t regulate their body temp with such wild swings in temps. So many people I know personally & channels I watch have had animals suffer mild to severe respiratory illnesses. With several people losing animals to such illnesses…LGDs, pet dogs, highland cattle, lamas/alpacas, sheep, fluffy goats, some short haired cattle & even chickens, ducks, geese & other birds. A friend & neighbor lost half her flock of various types of fancy chicken breeds over the last week totally 11 birds to pneumonia. 😕 Not to mention now here in the southern eastern/western US and many other parts of the country massive amounts of pollen has also hit. Between the swings in temps, pollen & rapid swings barometric pressure my sinuses are driving me nuts & Im have migraines triggered by all 3! Hope it levels out soon! Also hope we don’t have an insanely hot summer like last year!🤞🏻🙏🏼🤞🏻😕

Longhorn Lester's had a little runt that looked a lot like Nubs. The mama abandoned him & they tried their best but internally something was wrong.
The vet recommended the last act of kindness so they did what was best for him. He'll be at peace now.
Hard to believe it's been 6 years. I first found your channel when willow and Stella were born. Amazing how time flies
Aww.. poor little thing. He was so tiny and to me, looked like he hadn't developed properly in the face/head. His eyes were a little wonky when he was born and his tongue was always sticking out to one side.
Nubs is now in a better place, playing with little Delilah and being watched over by Penny.

One of my does delivered 2 weeks early and we lost both of her twin bucklings. Its had but nature happens and their is only so much you can do. Tha k you forgiving nubs the best life even though it was short ❤

Luna looks so good for how old she is she is doing so good, I'm worried about Tilly are her teeth still good because when a goat geos downhill the teeth are bad I've noticed
So glad you show this part too, unfortunately the Runts don't always make it & you're so right about the complications of the placental mal attachment, i was afraid he had more wrong than could be readily seen. You're such a wonderful Goat mom, your husbandry is excellent & your empathy & compassion are beautiful to behold. Thank you for being such a lovely example of how to do this the right way ❤

No matter how bad their odds are, it’s still sad if they pass. I cry with each loss and feel triumphant with each victory. I really wanted goats because of you but I don’t have the space for them. 🥲 I’ll do gardening and raise chicken and maybe quail. I’m old so I need it to be easy.

As you say, the runts can be runts because they didn’t have a good nutritional supply during the pregnancy or it could be genetics or both combined. I think this time it was both things combined, just by what has been shown in your videos 😢

Milk is an emulsion, meaning tiny bubbles of fat suspended in a water phase. It will basically always separate when frozen because fat and water freezes at different temperatures. If possible, taking the nutritional values in to account, you could try to add an emulsifier such as phospholipids or oleic acid.
