Great video! I'll speak for the W2 employees on here. This absolutely applies to your job as well. I have no interest in being an entrepreneur, but I am an 'intrepreneur' working in a large tech company. I have worked my way up the ladder by understanding exactly how my role impacts the earned revenue of the business, if you don't understand that, your not paying attention. Be sure to fully understand the KPI's that your manager is measured on, and then work to have a positive impact on those. Once I understood this, I not only moved up quickly, but found that if I only focus on the tasks that have an impact, my workload dropped way down and I could be considered one that doesn't work near as hard as my peers because they get caught up burning cycles on activities that have no impact on the bottom line and then complain they are too busy. It's all about impact!

When thinking about entrepreneurship and being in the right 'boat', I always think about finances, technology, marketing etc- and creativity is more where I'm at. I can become easily turned off by marketing myself, ego or trying to conform in any way, and tend to undercut myself and not finish projects as a result. Having to conform myself after a while always tends to choke my passion (speaking specifically about losing the why and creating what others want, rather than what inspires me). I can see now that I need to choose something and stick to it. Do you have any step by step guidance for a sensitive soul such as mine who has a lot of creative potential, around how to execute a successful business without letting society or the 'image' detract from reaching my goals while also enjoying the process?
Totally understand where you're coming from. I see this a lot with creatives who are trying to turn their passion/art into a business. A few quick thoughts: 1. You don't have to love it, do it anyways. This is one of the hardest lessons of discipline I've ever learned. In the past, if I didn't want to do a thing (or wasn't interested in the thing), I simply wouldn't do it. But there will inevitably be things in your business you don't want to do and your ability to show up and do the work despite how you feel is critical to success. 2.It's not about what YOU want. Right now, you're probably connecting how you feel about interior design projects to how YOU would like the design to look. So when you're working on projects that require design elements you personally would never choose, you lose interest in the project. Here's a mental switch that might help (if this is in fact accurate): Your job as the designer is to create a space that your CUSTOMER loves. And that might mean it looks nothing like what you would've chosen, but of you can connect to the passion you feel for creating spaces that make your CUSTOMER'S ecstatic to come home, then it'll make it easier to summon the energy to get in there and do the work. 3. Sales is service. The number one thing keeping creative entrepreneurs playing small is their fear or distate for "promoting" themselves. So they get in their own way and stop themselves from taking the actions necessary to grow. Here's another helpful mental reframe: If you have a product that can genuinely help people and improve their lives, then don't you have a moral obligation to let them know about it? NOT telling them you have the cure to their cancer is actually a bit selfish, no? Listen, interior design might not seem like it's going to transform somebody's life, but just imagine how much better they'll feel when they come home after a long days work and step into their private sanctuary that makes them feel safe, inspired, and joyful. That's a beautiful gift you can give them... but only if they KNOW you have the solution to their problem. So get out of your own way and go tell them you can help. Afterall, you can't save souls in an empty church.

Thanks for the awesome videos! I have ADHD as well and am having difficulty choosing a business opportunity to follow. My brain can see all the possibilities which is great, but also overwhelming as I want to commit. Not necessarily to the "right" one, but to something that's at least not a guaranteed dead end.
I totally feel that. Sometimes you've just gotta commit to one path, but be ready/willing to pivot if necessary. The only thing that won't move you forward is to sit at the fork in the road overanalyzing all the possible paths (without actually picking one).

You have so much value to give and you are more credible than most “gurus”… i can tell you are getting frustrated at the slow traction and videos that dont do so well.. and i can see the content strategy changes and iterations… what i think is the missing piece and im not an expert is that tou are not building a community and a connection with the audience it always is (valuable) but general advice aimed at peoples qualities like “laziness” or “procrastination” idk how but i was try to make a way to engage, have a mission and focus in in how to use what your teaching in a realistic way that relates to people and maybe even give a name to your audience like ViciNation (you can come up with something better)
