Thanks for this another amazing video. It took me some days, but I can finally play the piece you played on this video. I'm happy because it was the first one I played actually reading music. It's amazing to know that there are hundreds of other videos to be watched, I keep imagining the enormous amount of things I'll learn just by following your channels... Greetings from Brazil! ;)
im really enjoing following your videos, i played on a keyboard years ago but just like copying it, i decided to learn and understand (reading) the music and start from 0, and your channel has been very helpful. Im practising the first half of this exercise, it took me like 10 min to coordinate both hands but i can do it now, my fingers are tired u_u, but at night ill continue with the second half, ty very much
Love it. There are some other musicians on youtube that explain why C and G chord are the staple of western music, by the physics of it. They don't actually play a tune and dedicate an entire episode for just C and G chord thought.
Hello! Just wanted to say I'm a big fan of your channel, I've been searching RUclips for a good piano teacher and you're the first one I've found who makes it enjoyable and easy to learn! I think I'm getting better too :) I was just thinking though it's almost a crime these are free! Do you have a patreon I can donate to? To get a little bit unprofessional you're also very pretty! Keep up the great work :)
I've been wondering the past few days why many beginner books/methods introduce the first V chord in the I, IV, V progression as V7 rather than just V? I think I heard the the V and V7 are interchangeable, but if that's the case, then why is V7 favored over V? In alfred's book it seems they are all V7 for the first few keys (C, F, G). I didn't check the other books yet though.
Michael McGill The simplified version of V7 (G7 = BFG) is easier to play than the inverted V (BDG) - I think that's the main reason. V7 is also really common in classical music, so it's a good gateway. But it's also just more tense than a regular V chord, thus more dramatic! Those are my thoughts!
I recently (3 weeks ago) started playing the piano, and your videos are amazing. I am currently attempting to learn this song (It's amazing how hard this very easy song is ;-). I have a question on how long to play a note for. The chords at the beginning of this song are "whole" note chords, and the way I think I should be playing it is holding down the chord until I have to play the chord again. So I basically hold down the piano keys until I have to play the chord again. But now when I watch you play the song, you don't hold down the keys, you tap them (as if they are quarter/half note chords). Is there a video that explains this?
That's a really good point! When I notated this way back in the day, I should have made the chords half notes with rests between them to reflect the way I play it. You're definitely right, usually when there's a whole note on the page, you want to hold it for the full duration (within reason).
Another great video thanks :) I'm using the Alfred's books to learn piano and was sooo confused by their three letter G7. But now I understand (kinda).
sambchico I know! People always wonder about that, and I'm never sure how much detail I should go into, since it's usually the second or third lesson when it comes up, when there's so much other stuff to tackle! I'll have to do a video just on 7 chords to go more in depth with that!
Mam I have one question. I have just started playing a casio ctk 240. How much time I should practice it as a beginner? And your videos are wonderful mam thank you so much🙏🏻😀
In the example piece for this video It looks like the chords shown on the staff are whole notes and should be held for 4 counts. After watching the example of the song played it appears as though the chords are only being held for 1 (or 2) counts? Am I missing something?
***I see how they simplify the G7 chord by omitting the 'D' altogether (looking forward to explanation on that one....seriously.) and rearranging the remaining chords to BFG. Q: Is this done with all the other 4 note type chords in scales???*** 😬 @4:30
Hello! I have a very basic question but i haven't found any definitive answer. What is the proper way of pressing keys?, should i use only my fingers?, should i use my arm and fingers to produce the sound?, i am not sure how to do it correctly. I think that this could be a good idea for a video.
The word TV in pianoTV is really obsolete because everyone born after year 2000 only search and watch online computer videos. But, again, no one born after year 2000 understands why a video has anything to do with tube in RUclips.
Mozart is my main man!
This was one more example of how a simple piece can be really beautiful.

I just did the slow mo mouth thing on my phone = tears of laughter
Just wonder, what is the tempo of this music and the digital piano which you are using?

I'm going to talk about this a little in the video that'll come out on Saturday (March 18)!
5:25, hmmmm BFG reminds me of something manly.
