As a fanbase, we collectively dropped 60 bucks for the original Generations. It was a two-hour game and it was a blast from start to finish. I wasn't necessarily the biggest fan of the 2-d elements, but the variety was appreciated. It was after all a game covering the greater breadth of Sonic's history. I still to this day when I have some time to kill boot up Generations and play it. Let's not forget either that within the two hours of playtime necessary to beat it, you can opt to extend that time and do the challenges to unlock other things like music and concept art. Shadow Generations feels like it will be worth the investment to me, assuming this is just the same game we knew back then with the added Shadow content. If everything works out, I will be playing it as much as I have the original Generations and maybe more considering we have that extra campaign which adds even more variety into the mix!
Generations was 40 bucks. But 60 if you are canadian. Shadow generations os supposed to be around 6 hours too

i did get the original sonic generations, but i sucked and stopped playing it, and noe the xbox 360 i played it on is kinds of ummm... no where to be found... so either way, this game was gonna be worth it for me. just take it as 30 for both the main and shadow campaign.
There is one thing I've been wondering. That being whether they're taking a look at the final boss fight for Generations overall. In the Sonic Central Trailer it pretty much showed that the Time Eater will have a major influence on Shadow's story, it makes me wondering if Shadow will actually join Classic and Modern in the fight at the overarching Final boss(that being the Time eater) this time as previously all Shadow did was give a few voicelines in the original game
I want to say (assuming no rewrites to OG gens occurs) they will keep it separate for continuity sake? Let shadow defeat doom, then show up at the end of Sonic’s story to keep things consistent. But we’ll see. I feel like with how much major stuff has been revealed, bigger surprises are on the way
@@SonicHubYT would be lame also they wouldn’t have gone back and changed cutscenes in the first place if that’s the case because all of those cutscenes are in engine so it they wouldn’t have made any changes unless they were going too, also the final boss was very criticized for the way some of the characters are characterized in it, and another thing is to consider is that shadow fights Sonic for no apparent reason, another thing is that Sonic colors ultimate retconned the original game, so the same is going to be applied here

Honestly, my biggest “concern” with this package is the apparent lack of changes to the base game; drop-dash for both Sonics, chao rescue missions, new cosmetics, re-recorded dialogue… that’s all I’ve heard of. I don’t know if they’re planning to add more to Generations via DLC, but it just seems like they’re putting anything and everything into Shadow’s campaign. I don’t blame them for that, but… touch up the base game as well, you know? Touch up classics physics, add some levels from the 3DS version, ya know?
That actually was a big concern of mine when people were thinking the game was gonna be an "episode shadow" kind of thing. Now its not as much. I want more gens content but it seems like the shadow portion should be enough to justify the purchase. We'll see though because they SHOULD give us more with the OG gens
@@spencermaley4390 I would also agree if Shadow generations was a short content extra like the episode Shadow in Forces. But is not the case. Sonic team is already doing a great job in Shadow campaign in length, quality and content. Who knows, maybe is the Game sells very well they will add some further dlc but I would only expect more skins

@@SonicHubYT Agreed. I’d love it if they did something like Frontiers, adding stuff through free updates. I don’t know how feasible improving Classic Sonics physics post-launch would be, but considering Showin already did it over a year ago, there’s still some hope left.
That, or playing a modded version on the Steam Deck, but I am NOT jumping at the idea of blowing over $500 just for one game.

This game is NOT a gens remaster with some shadow content as a bonus. This is a new shadow game with generations added on as a bonus.
I think people are forgetting the fact that were getting a Frontiers styled Hub World, how much playtime will add up just messing around in a huge open space like that

When you think about it, the higher animation quality makes sense considering this game is only 3-4 hours long compared to frontiers which was 13-15 hours long

At this point, I'm just really hoping Shadow Gens will have a custom music option for the levels like the original Gens did.

I got hyped about this game the moment I saw Shadow's name in the title and because I had never played the original Sonic Generations game before. To know that SEGA has heard our concerns about how short Shadow's campaign originally seemed to be and responded by showing us there actually is more to it than what was originally confirmed is such a breath of fresh air. I love when gaming companies listen to the fans! I'm so looking forward to this game and the future of Sonic!
I’m mid on this game because idk what they’re gonna do with his character.
Plus I would think this takes place while Sonic and classic Sonic were trying to defeat the clock monster in there. (yes I know I called him that. Haven’t played generations in forever)

I heard a rumor that Sonic Gens is being redubbed, rewritten in some parts, and some cutscenes being redone to fit Shadow Gens. Maybe the story will be changed.
The article actually said that shadow gens is gonna be 9-10 hours long so I’m thinking 7 hour capmaign/ story and 3 hours for the extras
I did love Sonic Generations, but having to buy it again seems like an odd decision. I wish the Shadow parts of the game could be sold separately.
Sonic Adventure is still my favorite 3D sonic game. The type of stages, the music, the ADVENTURE, the hub world, the npc simple side stories, the chao gardens, and the mechanics given to sonic specific to the stages that resembles what we've known him to do from the classic 2D sonic games. And then it was given as a full package of mini games, collectables, challenges, multiple characters and their point of view to the main story, etc, etc. Each stage had a unique attraction that was awesome to see and experience: Sonic being chased by a killer whale, Sonic inside a tornado, Sonic in a volcano, Sonic on a rollercoaster, Sonic running down a skyscrapper, (one of my personal favorite stages was when Eggman was just fed up with Sonic, and had an entire airship loaded with guns, canons, jet planes, lasers, turrets, robots, etc. just gunning after Sonic!! Amazing!!) And for me, the best part of Sonic Adventure was the ability to stop and explore the stages!
Although I like 1 or 2 of these modern Sonic games, I'm not a fan of the boost gameplay. You simply blast through these stages without taking in any beauty. All the enemy types you barely see. And there's mainly only 2 or 3 types of the same orange humanoid robots. No variety of enemies to combat against.
I will give MAJOR kudos to the modern Sonic games for tougher boss battles. That was heavily needed from the Adventure games. Overall I'm more biased to the Naka Sonic games. There was more charm within the stages that really reflected the classic OG Sonic games properly.
If only SEGA would just rerelease Sonic Adventure, iron out the wrinkles (fix graphical glitches, upgrade to 60 fps, etc.), and not add any boost to the game, maintaining it's core mechanics, that'd be perfect!
Sonic Frontiers is about to be 2 years old. And even after three DLC updates, and even a patch! THEY STILL HAVENT FIXED THE CYBERSPACE CONTROLS!!!
One thing I want to tell y’all is that even if the game is as long as generations. I feel that they want to add more levels as maybe free updates or DLC, we already got the movie shadow level pack. But imagine like bringing in boss fights from the 3Ds game? Or more obscure levels like idk bridge zone from sonic 1 on the game gear. SEGA will probably keep the game packed with content as we wait for the next mainline game or classic sonic game.

The games looks great and all, but I’m not 100% hyped for the game. The reason is, well, the game looks very promising for a Sonic game, but is $50 really worth spending on a pretty short game, if it’s only a few hours long? I don’t know. Maybe it’ll be worth for someone who is a Sonic fan.
