I give you as much information on the M Performance Exhaust setup for the new 2020 BMW M340i as I can! It is an epic OEM system offered by BMW, and I hope my video does it justice so you can justify putting in your car. The world needs more MPE!

How much would an normal 2020 m340i with + m performance exhaust would cost and is it worth it
M340 starts near 56-57k I believe (in US), and the exhaust is a $2k option, you can find it cheaper outside of bmw themselves so you’d be near 60k with the exhaust and a few options.

Great video your car sounds unreal. I did a custom exhaust on my M135i.. I found that turning off the ASD completely reduced the interior drone sound.
BMW Car - Kawasaki Bike funny you say that - just ordered a VeePeak yesterday to code some things. I’m going to play around with ASD, some people don’t like it off apparently. I’m thinking my system is loud enough to justify turning it off. :P thanks!
@@colebergman1963 oh cool.. If the exhaust is not loud enough then leaving it in reduced mode is ok. But for me especially when changing gears.. aka when the car 'burps' the interior sound was a bit awkward. I find it better in comfort mode now. You can always turn it back on if you find it too quiet.
Nice video! I was trying to do the same but it's hard to find a good spot for mic. tried to stick it on the rear and side of the car, both got way too loud!
chariot ub my microphone has a switch externally that allows me to modify recording levels, otherwise your camera will have settings internally that allow you to manually set a dB point to record at. For the bumper shots, mine was close to -35 dB between microphone and camera. Tinker with it!

Cole, hopefully you see this message! Since you work for BMW do you know why BMW “muted” or took the theatrical features (pops and crackles) from the stock m340i 2021 model? I was going to get one but saw that changed from the 2020 model and now I’m unsure! Thank you and nice vid!
Honestly could not tell you! I haven’t heard anything specific - I can tell you that in sport plus mode I get significantly less mpg since fuel is used to create the noises.... in turn, more pollution. That’s my guess!

do you recommend i get this exhaust or do i wait for the akrapovic exhaust?
If you are looking for a louder than stock and balanced exhaust tone, go MPE. Akro is pricier but certainly is likely to be much more of a performance system.
Are you able to buy the car with the m performance exhaust, or do you need to order it apart?

You can ordered it after market to replace the one it comes with. That’s what I did.😉
Extended shadow line is an option from the factory for 2019 and up. Well worth it

Does yours not have the shadow line package? Just curious since the exhaust tips aren’t the black shiny
Unless it’s a full on M car they don’t get black tips even with extended Shadowline, which my car has. I agree it would look better in black.
@@colebergman1963 what do you mean? I’ve seen some with grey rims and the extended shadow line with black tips but maybe thats for the 2022. I have the same exact car as you but a 2022 and I have the black exhaust tips.

@@colebergman1963 mine has the premium package parking package and shadow line package, also the m performance exhaust but mine doesn’t say m performance on the side skirt and I have a black grill mirror caps and exhaust tips. They are not the cerium color like yours so I guess I’m confused now lol
Did they tune your car to more hp because of the exhaust?
Daniel Ryzy tune on the car is the same as a car without MPE. My car might just have a tad more power since the exhaust is higher flow.

None with the valves closed, a small amount with the valves open. When you see your fuel economy on the highway with sport plus on, you’ll want to stay in comfort mode anyway. 😛

hey man...u ever feel like even in the comfort mode the exhaust is a bit loud?
Not really, no. Maybe sometimes on cold start early in the morning. other than that when cats are warm and there aren’t any burbles it stays pretty tame.

Would you say the drone is something you may regret getting the exhaust sometimes.
jonathan robertson no, there isn’t enough drone to make me go crazy. Sometimes on the highway I have it in sport mode but higher gears, which is more drone, and it reminds me to put it back in comfort mode, and that quietness is just right.

@@colebergman1963 is that a standard option? , I have added all the packages to the BMW M340i and I don't know if the M Performance exhaust is included.
Danger 017. No, it’s a Port Installed Accessory (PIA) you have to ask for it to be added to the order by your dealer. Any parts out of the M Performance catalog not offered by the configurator have to be added separate.
@@colebergman1963 Hey boss, I got a 2021 M340i and want to get the MPE. But the dealership rep is saying it’s not available. Until 2 years after the model comes out. You know this to be true? Wouldn’t it be the same MPE your model car has?
@@chammdall4 Hey man. They might be right, my system was available the same year for my car, but it does not have the mild hybrid system that the 2021 does. So I assume it’s a completely different set up that they have to redesign. I would just keep your ears to the ground for when it comes out!

I would everytime use Sport+ if i had this car haha. If you turn the car off in Sport+ and valves open, does it save this settings for next start?
I actually used BimmerCode to code it to start in Sport+, but if it’s a cold start the valve is always closed unless you unplug it or have a different tune. If the car is warm and you turned it off from sport+ I think next time you start, if within 20 minutes or so, it’ll leave the flap open. That’s just what I’ve seen from my experience.
Should you request this voice from the company, or will it come without asking it?
Mohammad Khalil if you order a car, you can add it on from factory. Most cars on dealership lots to do not have the option equipped!

@@colebergman1963 ahh hope all is well. I had a 2018 340i and LOVED it with m performance exhaust, downpipe, intake, and tune. This new m340i makes me really wanna trade my car for one since the new refresh m3 and m4 are hideous.

Call me crazy, but I prefer the non M sport exhaust. It sounds too much like a diesel truck to me.
B S not crazy at all - definitely personal preference. It does sound like a diesel here and there but I don’t mind it. Very throaty at all times so it makes up for it.
Don't like it at all! Comfort mode sounds like a Dodge Ram w/a Cummins diesel! No thank you! I'll take the oem exhaust and save $2000 to boot. The stock exhaust sounds excellent, so why ruin it?

Camera microphones will never do it justice, it'll always sound quieter - just not really brave enough to mount a $800+ microphone to the car to get the true sound haha. Maybe one day!

Michael Jay honestly if I didn’t work for BMW and I didn’t have a discount, I would stick with the stock exhaust, but I got the car because it had every other option I was looking for in the exact color scheme. To each their own ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
That’s not an M340i. That’s an 330i with the $5200 M Sport Package. Biggest is the kidney grill design
