I'd love to get my hands on one but this Gundam and many other master grades and perfect grades are always sold out. Some master and perfect grades I've been trying for three years to obtain.
This kit was the first gunpla I ever assembled. It went surprisingly well, despite me accidentally snipping off a tab from one of the armor parts while I was cutting it out of the runner (the part fit on the model well despite that). It really helps that all the instructions are printed in both english and japanese, so you don't have to have a translator app open while reading the manual to make sure you haven't missed a crucial bit of info about the assembly.
Vists death scene figure is important as if I remember correctly that was the only time the unicorn was in that cage unit ( for the red psyco mode on first activation) plus how often do you get the chance to paint a blooded gunpla figure "apart from the 1/144 gunpla builders sets of course" 👹gunna look forward to painting mine up , plus it would look great as a diorama set piece 👿👿
Drinking game, that a shot every time Kakarot calls the Beam Magnum a Beam Carbine... disclaimer: I am not responsible for any alcohol related injuries or deaths caused be the playing this game play at your own risk.
As much as i love the Unicorn, i would give this a pass, its too expensive for me, the best Unicorn for me is still the RG, if they decide to just sell the MGEX Unicorn as a standalone kit (no ms cage, no led, only 1 set of gatlings, 1 shield) i would buy it, but considering the psycho frame is clear, i doubt bandai is going to do that
@@barrybend7189 i don't think the rg one definitely needs an update, its already a solid model kit, basically the best 1/144 scale version of the unicorn and also the best real grade bandai has ever produced in 2017
I hope Bandai listens to customer feedback and makes a "MGEX Unicorn 1.5" now with USB powered LED's, a remote control for said LED, and a mode that makes the LED stay on in years to come.
I love this kit but sadly the LED strip broke when transforming into destroy mode, (the torso has a flimsy joint that breaks easily) that seems to happen to a lot of people so that fact should be more known.
I agree with your opinion on the power supply issue. If you can solder, solving it is easy. Also the mode controll of the LED might be solvable with a cheapo led module for led stripes. But that I can't say for sure without having a closer look at the used led stripe
I can't wait for The Gundam Base exclusive Ver.TWC release, which will have the rectangular side backpack thrusters, light gray armor panels, and a more nightmarish decal sheet like the Unicorn Gundam Statue. Yes, Bandai will eventually release one.
Kakarot - "No painting needed" Me - "Hold my backlog" On a serious note, I've not got the kit yet (it's in my warehouse), but I'm not looking forward to building this weapons for the 20th time, the RG FA Unicorn nearly killed me. *Edit* I'm still a little disappointed that bandai didnt provide hander decals, yes, third parties make them, but its once again, it's just one of those things that for the price tag.
I dont know what you're talking about with "false statement" I was talking about providing 'hanger decals'for for the base *edit* My mistake, you're referencing the "No painting needed", sorry. Yeah I agree, hence why I'll be painting my kit, stickers for upfront parts are criminal. It's a shame bandai couldn't utilize their duel molding process for the V fin
What do you think are the chances of this getting re-released as sort of a Unicorn 2.0 without the LED (instead solid psycho frames) and less extras? I do not have a Unicorn MG yet and I really like the aesthetics of this over the existing OVA and FA ver. ka versions but I cannot justify the price this MGEX demands. I'd pick the PG Unicorn over this 10 times out of 10.
Uhh nope, Katoki already suggested an update 2.0 version of MG Unicorn to Bandai Hobby Division. And they came out with this. (Source: Interview with Katoki Hajime in MGEX instruction manual)
i would absolutely buy the inevitable banshee variant of this kit if the price was half - hell, let's be generous - 3/4 of what they're asking for. but for $200+? you're asking for too much bandai.
Kakarot- reviews Geara Zulu Angelo Sauper use Me- waiting for HG Rozen Zulu, Kakarot's 'favorite' mobile suit. Word of advice- get the episode 7 version, as it comes with parts that can build the standard version, and it's color accurate
yea RGB in gunpla ... only with an Adriano and actual 5v rgb LEDs . And as far as I know those RGB strip bulbs are literally the smallest diodes you can buy for cheap. so lights are only possible on PG or MS kits. it has been a quest for me as well to sync my gundpla with my rig lol
I damaged my LED strip when the torso separated on me while trying to transform it into destroy mode. Any ideas where I can get a replacement LED strip?
That's the exact thing that happened to me! That torso is just bad design out of an overall perfect model kit. If you are in the us you can get bluefin to replace it, otherwise you have no luck if you are somewhere else like myself...
Very nice review for this beast of a Master Grade EX. Though TBH, I would love to see you apply the decals, but still good. Btw, to shake things up a bit, how about you do a video of your custom kit every new year or every anniversary of your channel? Just a suggestion.
Does the beam magnum have any way of holding the cartridge securely? I have the MG FAU and the magnum falls forward when tilted down causing the cartridge to fall out.
in regards to the whole battery thing, that might be due to particular regulations in regards to shipping items with lithium batteries and since bandai isnt an electronics device company, there's a possibility that they couldnt justify filing the amount of paperwork needed to classify select kits from coming with lithium battery packs
@@barrybend7189 I see. Well considering how the hg was meant to be simple and not overly complicated with tiny parts, i think its fine they dont transform. The bigger issue would be the articulation and loose joints. imo the RG is good enough of a transforming unicorn in 1/144 scale
Ok, i know this model kit has some amazing and fantastic articulation but, i think if you built it without applying the LED strips, the articulation would probably be the same as the real grade one
The articulation by itself is limited to protect the LED sheet but one can easily remove the stuff that stops it from.damsging the LEDs if no LED sheet is used.
I'm sure with this success, Bandai will then make an MGEX Nu Gundam Ver. Ka with extra psychoframe all over the body and using the same LED strip technology to light it up. BANDAI TAKE ALL OUR MONEY(but I'm broke so please don't 😂😂😂)
It will be way longer time to get another MG Nu if they can make it. It was made in 2012 but still holding up well till today even though got small minor issues with the funnels.
I’ve heard this thing blows the pg out of the water since it’s you know actually possible has great LEDs included doesn’t require you to buy a whole new suit for final battle and is cheaper then if you buy the pg and it’s LEDs
Reupload to fix some things, including the extended knee articulation that I missed.

The entire point of the kit is the LED system. Bandai would be stupid to sell the Unicorn just on its own.
But the best 1/100 scale Unicorn is, definitely this kit.
Because I prefer MG scale than HG/RG scale.
Except big HG/RG like Nu.
There needs to be an update of the HG and RG kits as they suffer from back problems due to the extra stuff added to it in the Phenex kit.

The mgex to the mg is what the rg is the hg, same size but much better tech under the hood. And that's even discounting the leds in the mgex
