It is the city that never sleeps, the birthplace of modern civilisation, the location of the Acropolis and the Parthenon, and the home of a million taxis.
Or so it appears; I don't recall seeing so many taxis, even in New York.
Athens is a wonderful city, steeped in history, vibrant with culture, and home to a diverse and, it appeared to us, young population.
It is often referred to as the cradle of Western Civilisation and is one of the world's oldest cities, with a recorded history spanning over 3,400 years.
Plato's Academy and Aristotle's Lyceum were located in Classical Athens, which was a center for the arts, learning, and philosophy.

Athens is the capital of Greece. It was also at the heart of Ancient Greece, a powerful civilization and empire. The city is still dominated by 5th-century BC landmarks, including the Acropolis, a hilltop citadel topped with ancient buildings like the colonnaded Parthenon temple.

Athens looks a lovely city but there's too much graffiti away from the tourist hot spots. Green people should show more pride in their cities and towns. Graffiti is the human form of a dog marking it's territory. Humans shouldn't act like dogs
graffiti is a form of expression, of art. i dont need blank grey walls to feel like a human. i dont need police watching every corner for me to feel safe and free. thats how north europe is living and we dont want that here
I will never understand people that give dirty looks to the cameraman as if they have no right to be filming them. There's always a couple of losers like that in all of the walking tours I've seen in various countries.
