This was excellent, really high level. Have some techniques to start practicing. I haven't been watching for decades but have since winter 2016, I remember my youngest was a baby when watching you explain your P&T routine in the middle of the night.
What a beauty of a trick Jay. It’s an astounding piece of magic. A stapler can be used to shorten your jeans if they are too long, or close a wound, in surgery.
Hi Jay - another absolute fantastic card trick from the King. Thanks for sharing and your instructions are so easy to follow and the best bit of all is it's always FUN. I look forward to your videos so much and for a very simple amateur magician like myself, you make it so easy to follow. Keep up the great work, it is very, very much appreciated and I hope that one day I would be able to come and see you in person if you ever visit the UK.
Hey Graham - wow - what a freakin' LOVELY and supportive comment. Please know that I truly appreciate it. I've been to the UK many times to perform and lecture and I love it there. And I'm confident our paths will indeed cross. Warm wishes to you and yours. 😎
Nice effect, Jay. In the many years I’ve watched and commented I’ve never won anything. Maybe this time. I used to do a trick where two participants each thought of a card. I immediately handed them a boxed deck and asked them to open it and go through the deck and they’d find their two thought of cards staples together somewhere in the middle of the deck. Great effect with a great response.
That new (to me) simplest ditch ever had me cracking up because I never thought of just putting the whole deck out of sight for a moment... Priceless. Thank you. As for the stapler, I doubt I'm the only 1, but open, they're a decent back scratcher
I’m loving your videos! Thank you so much. I’m a retired kids clown and love simple yet astounding card tricks. I still do little tricks for family & friends but Unfortunately due to a medical condition, I’m loosing feeling in my fingers. Would love to see you doing a few card tricks that I could do without having to rely on feeling with the tips of my fingers. Cheers from Australia 🇦🇺❤️
Love that force! It is so smooth and only needs a slight forward tilt to cover the action. My wife came home and asked me "why the heck is there a cheese slice stapled to our bulletin board?" I just gave a slight shrug and answered cryptically "for magic!" She just walked off shaking her head.
Hi , I just started learning magic thanks for all your free tutorials I receive my first order of your product and im Very Happy I can take the fun to the next level !!!! thanks again I'll be happy to start watching you for decade.Oh and I once use stapler in school to get out of boring class by putting 3 stapples in my hand just to bleed enought to be send out !
I once used a stapler to relieve stress. I threw it, quite forcefully, at a stack of boxes full of files I needed to review. BTW, your tutorial was very educational.
I like the way you think about magic! The stapled card is a great climax, and your way towards it is well though of. For an abnormal and magical stapler use I could imagine that it could serve as innocent electric contact for a piece of paper with secret metallic coating. Not sure how the secret electronic gimmick would work but it's a first step towards disguising modern equipment as plain old analoge every day items
Jay, I remember a trick where you had to pull the staple out of a book of matches, do the dirty work of adding in an extra comb of matches and then using a small portable stapler to match the original staple in the matchbook. Took some prep time so it really was never a hit.
Hi Jay, You always take ordinary card moves and put them together to make a “miracle”! Thanks for all the great magic and humor! You put me in a good mood no matter how bad my day has been! Thanks buddy for today’s miracle! Your friend, Barry Ps. I’d use a stapler to staple a man’s tongue to a woman’s tongue! No more arguing and always “french” kissing! lol!!! What a great way to bond, lol!!!
Great effect! Even being aware of these techniques you had me completely fooled! Well done! How about office hot potato with the stapler? No potato no problem!
When I'm bored on the reception desk at work I sometimes open up the stapler and shoot the staples into a little pot like a target game at a funfair, it's just enough fun to kill an hour or so if no one comes in. I'm pretty good at it now
Hey Jay - thanks for all you do! How about the “Linking Staples”! Have the staples already “shot” into their “closed” form… and they link and unlink magically! (Very close up magic!)
This particular effect is great (as so many you teach). For the stapler, I don´t know if it´s wierd, ut I´ve actually used one as a puppet and to fix a dinner table (not at the same time, that would have been cool)
Hi, Jay, I took a deck of cards and stapled each card in the deck, taping the first two cards together at the top and then the second card stapled to the third card at the bottom. Do this alternating the cards and staples through the whole deck. This gives you an accordion of cards. Holding the deck in one hand you can make the cards "fall" into the other hand, making you look like you are a master card manipulator doing a card fall, one-by-one. I then let the cards fall from the top card, allowing the entire deck to fall in a long chain--an obvious reveal of the trick. I've done this in front of pro magicians. First a couple of seconds of puzzlement when you do the first part and then the reveal always gets a laugh.
Jay you are a legend! and yes it feels like a decade watching you, I love how you always provide the psychology behind the trick and why it works. for me stapler can be used as a piercing machine lol
Simple, direct concept which makes it so powerful. People think they are ahead of the trick when they are way behind. Is have to find a new use for my stapler since no one uses them anymore. Maybe a joke prop like the old chattering teeth...
Thank you, I believe there was a scene from the movie 'Scrooged' with Bill Murray, he suggests they staple the antlers to the mouse's head because glue wouldn't work.
I do a trick with a gimmicked joker, which also ends with the spectator unable to find their forced card. In my case the forced card is the KH. I ask the spectator to retrieve all the Kings. They then find that only their King is missing and it is then produced from the “empty” box. I find this eliminates the boredom of searching through the pack and not finding their card. I find this is a little stronger and could be used here.
Staple a card to your tongue, or other part of your body. Use rubber cement to attach it, then act as if you're ripping off the pre stapled card. Put two dots of red marker under the staple as blood.
Back in the days, we used to take two single staples , hold them like an "H" and twist them so the legs pointed randomly away. They were pointing in all directions. You carefully place that on a chair just before someone sits on it. Most likely on a hard surface. When the person arrives, it's hard to see it at first and then you wait for the reaction.
Thank you so much for your videos, instruction and "side" advice on how to present the magic. I always loved to watch magic for personal enjoyment, but after watching your videos and purchasing several of your tricks, I am actually thinking to trying to entertain my grandchildren and their friends. I use a staple as a replacement for a toothpick ... ughh!!!
Another gem! Sometimes my boxer short's elastic waistband wears out before the boxers do, so I just staple those loose boxers in place on me so they won't drift down.
I don't know if you're familiar with the 1960s TV show "Get Smart", but today's question reminded me of how Mel Brooks came up with the famous shoe phone. He was in his office when a phone rang in another, far away, office. As a joke, he started picking up random things from his desk, and said "Hello" into them. He ended up removing his shoe, but one of the objects was a stapler.
We tend to use the stapling gun* as a gun, shooting out those staplers at eatch other. But from a more sort of "everyday use" point of view, you can use them to pirce your ear lobe... *) Not an actual stapling gun, but the more "office" or "home" orientated ones 😄
It's not quite an answer to the question of the week, but the YT commercial prior to the start of the video was for a surgical stapler called ethicon... Spooky
When the band of my face mask rips instead of throwing the whole mask away I use a stapler to put it back together. Saved me quite some money during Covid lol
True story: I had a roommate in college who got a dog and wanted to teach him to ring a bell to go outside but he didn't want to buy a bell. He had one of those spring loaded 'easy' staplers that sounds like a starting pistol when you staple something. He took all the staples out and tried to teach him to step down on the stapler to notify it was time to go outside.
We used to scare racoons away by shooting the stapler gun in their direction. It never hits them and isn't powerful enough. But they hear the sound and see the thing come out, and run. You probably were looking for tamer uses for a stapler. But this is a true story, so it still counts.

Stapled card to back of my shirt.
Can get rid of the force when turned around too.
Stable my mouth
I once saw people stapling condoms right through the middle onto notecards saying they were for safe sex. Kind of defeated the purpose.

Amazing card trick!!! I will add it in my routines!!
Thanks a lot Sankey!!!!
Really great trick that I'll be practicing Jay. Many thanks for sharing
I loved this. I will be working on it. Thank you.
Another Gem. Thanks Jay
Really nice trick this week! My stapler is basically used as a decoration for my desk as I never use it.
I’ve been watching you for 3 years now. Your tricks never fail to thrill me. Great job once again!
💖💖💖💖💖
Excellent trick and tutorial. No detail left out! Thank you.
You are oh so welcome Joey.
What a beauty of a trick Jay. It’s an astounding piece of magic. A stapler can be used to shorten your jeans if they are too long, or close a wound, in surgery.
Great trick. I love it. I use staples to make sure my magnets are still working.

I like taking 2 staplers and using them as percussion instruments and drop a sick beat 🎉 🎶🥁
Jay Sankey, you sir, are a living legend! 👍🏻

Another banger Jay! I use my stapler as a paperweight when I run out of staples! 👍🏻

Now THAT'S a clever deception!
I once used a stapler to relieve stress. I threw it, quite forcefully, at a stack of boxes full of files I needed to review.

Love the assemblage of the individual moves! Thank you! Bored with office supplies - maybe staple rubber bands together? 😄

I would use a stapler as an instrument for making music, I think that that distinct "Ka-Chunk" noise would make a great beat.
Jay, I remember a trick where you had to pull the staple out of a book of matches, do the dirty work of adding in an extra comb of matches and then using a small portable stapler to match the original staple in the matchbook. Took some prep time so it really was never a hit.
Yeah, no question that tricks requiring a bit too much prep don't get performed as much. I feel the same way.
Hi Jay,

I would use a stapler to staple all the to-do Post-It notes to my head so I don't keep losing them!

With a stapler in each hand, you have yourself an improvised pair of castanets. (Thanks for another great lesson)

I read this in a David Ginn Book…Kidbiz.
Very similar to the Electric deck.
Jay you are a legend! and yes it feels like a decade watching you, I love how you always provide the psychology behind the trick and why it works. for me stapler can be used as a piercing machine lol
'Piercing machine' is actually the Greek translation of the English word, 'Stapler.' 😎
Yay! I won! Sweet!
That's easy - I use my stapler as the star of my Aligator Puppet show! 🐊
I use a stapler to staple patients' credit card receipt to their statement. Thanks for the magic!
When I'm bored in the office, I like to juggle staplers :)
Simple, direct concept which makes it so powerful. People think they are ahead of the trick when they are way behind. Is have to find a new use for my stapler since no one uses them anymore. Maybe a joke prop like the old chattering teeth...
Stapler? I hardly know her! Haha thanks for the awesome video Jay!
Boooom!
I see a trick like that and almost don't want to know how it was done. Lol Amazing
Thank you, I believe there was a scene from the movie 'Scrooged' with Bill Murray, he suggests they staple the antlers to the mouse's head because glue wouldn't work.

I use a stapler as Pez dispenser, which has the advantage of crushing the candy to powder
Add staples as a condiment for hot dogs. Extra iron too!

I would use a stapler as a ventriloquist dummy. I’d introduce it as Stapey, my pet stapler.

Nice.. the ever-famous stapler = gun 🔫
And staplers as bullets and have an office quick-draw showdown is always fun!
Another gem!
Sometimes my boxer short's elastic waistband wears out before the boxers do, so I just staple those loose boxers in place on me so they won't drift down.

I would buy a red stapler and give it to Milton “ that would be great “. ( From Office Space )

Use the stapler on a date or at the next office party: "Show me yours I'll show you mine."... it would have to be a "hot rod red" stapler though
