At the age of 20, I ate a tin of corned beef that was canned in my birth year.
I used to spend winter in Mexico. I had 4 cups of yogurt in the fridge. I called my neighbor and asked him to go get it and eat it. When I returned 6 months later there was 4 cups of yoghurt in the fridge and I was hungry so I opened one and it smelled fine and I ate them.
When I saw my neighbor I thanked him for buying new yogurt and he said he forgot all about my call. That yogurt was 6 months old!!
So many negative comments. This video is helpful especially for those of us who never had to deal with doing without. Thanks for this info and the time it took to put it together.
So you had to add your own whine, Lois?
I'm just concerned about what harmful stuff goes in our body without our knowledge; and something that should be done about it.
This AI which takes moments to put a video together.
Taking the time to research and receiving this compliment is truly worth it
@pfeenxh Yes, AI can do it, but it can never compare to us doing our own research and then implementing it ourselves. I need you to make that distinction clear

Salt was worth more than gold at one point in history….
It was also used as a weapon of war during Old Testament times. Salt was dumped on fields in enemy territory to poison the soil, which made it non-productive for many years.
So was tobacco
It was vital to preserving red meat, pork, and fish. Smoked and salted meat can last for years.
A bit of history: As far back as 6050 BC, salt has been an important and integral part of the world's history, as it has been interwoven into countless civilizations. Used as a part of Egyptian religious offerings and valuable trade between the Phoenicians and their Mediterranean empire, salt and history have been inextricably intertwined for millennia, with great importance placed on salt by many different cultures. Even today, the history of salt touches our daily lives. The word "salary" was derived from the word "salt." Salt was highly valued and its production was legally restricted in ancient times, so it was historically used as a method of trade and currency. The word "salad" also originated from "salt," and began with the early Romans salting their leafy greens and vegetables. Undeniably, the history of salt is both broad and unique, leaving its indelible mark in cultures across the globe.
Roman soldiers were paid with salt, Latin word 'sal' giving us the English word salary.
When they put expiration on salt I knew they're out of their minds
Haha, you're very straightforward
Exactly. 3 million years old and best before July 2026.
How lucky was that to find it just in time! 😅
Especially on the thousands of years old Himalayan salt
Corn meal.... Cornmeal mush saved so many lives during the depression. People forget about that
Be prepared for whatever comes, so you can survive.
Yes a little at a time is better than not at all
Nobody survives this life.
In ancient India ,water used to be stored in copper vessels. Now we know copper ions from the vessel dissolve in water and this water is healthier than ordinary water.
Our ancestors also used to put silver coins in water vessels and in their wells to improve taste and prevent disease, which works, and is why many filters today are infused with silver
@Keyspoet27
The practice of using pure copper vessels for water still exists today. Such water is very healthy. Pure 9999 Silver is anti bacterial and anti microbial. The concept of colloidal Silver was derived from this practice.
How does it taste?
@sgood280
The taste is not any different to regular water.
Water stored in pure copper pots is healthy.
Just put a copper in your bird bath in the summer and see how much it helps to keep it clean.
I prefer vinegar in glass bottles to vinegar in Plastic bottles
Vineger freezes and breaks glass. Big mess and loss
But glass is fragile
Tea coffee creamer and cinnamon sage nutmeg milk instant coffee instant tea salt dill rosemary thyme paprika parsley and black pepper and garlic and onion powders all seasonings are unlimited there freeze dried cocoa also

Drinking baking soda and warm water will heal and clean you .
People need to know this information
I know it works better for Acid than any prescription does. Most people won't drink it because they don't like the taste. Well I don't either but I use it when I have acid
Nonsense BS
My mom gave my dad baking soda In water when he asked.
My dad had me make baking soda in water bottle and he kept it near his bed and anytime he felt stomach upset r heart burn he drank as he said a swig. 😅it is good for kidney disease. I’ve been told by several people that . I usually drink a shot of baking soda ,Apple cider vinegar with the mothers and can add lemon r honey

I was in the army from 1970 to 1985. Ate c-rations. Dated back to 1940. Still tastes good. Except the John Wayne bars. lol. Veterans who had c rations know what I’m talking about lmafo
Ex UK military here and we were eating ww2 rations in the 80s 👍
Was eating c rations in 60’s
@ukminuteman. They last forever
What a simple wonderful source of sensible storage for bad times.
Thank you for the compliment
This kind of video is useful when it’s about preparedness, not fear. The real lesson isn’t just which foods never expire, but understanding that stability can disappear faster than we expect, and planning calmly is a form of self-reliance. 👍
Please support my video even more
People need to get back to the basics and stop depending on others to do everything for them.
We need to learn from our ancestors who knew how to make the most from the least. ❤
Learning from our ancestors is the best approach
Uhm, our ancestors worked together and would be appalled to hear their kin say "stop depending on others." This content creator is living out the values of our ancestors, not so much the selfish, McJudgy pants on the internet.
Most of them died.
Beautiful video and so useful thanks ♥️
When I was in the military, I was taught that undamaged tinned food was good for 25 years. I have never worried about these BBE dates on tins.
Agree. At the end of SERE school we were given C-RATS processed in 1944. 34 years old and they were delicious (of course we were starving so, that's subjective).
Why do you need to click a link to get the answer after watching this video?just say what it is.
Thank you for this important information🙏
Thank you so much!
Thanks so much.
Very knowledgeable
Hard sugar? Just chisel off what you need and it's still good
Yep. This includes brown sugar. Just grate it with a cheese grater.
My daughter believes there will be another war and has been putting most of these things by ,I don't know if there will be one ,but she's confident something will happen and as she said food is getting more expensive every day so the day we can't afford it we will have something to eat .
She's right. We r on t/cusp...
Better to have and not need than need and not have.
Another war means the end of life as we know it!
Thank you for the info watching from Philippines 🇵🇭

@jemmadelplesh165 I guess you mean dried beans? Dried peas, chickpeas, brown, white and red beans etc. And lentils. Those can save lives.
I would add tea bags. I don’t do coffee so tea is a definite must for me.
Always store rice and other grains with bay leaves, if possible directly with the grain... The smell of the bay leaf avoids pantry moths, larvae, and weevils, etc... Specially in warm countries... I would remove all plastic wrappings and use only glass ones if possible... (Or just add the packet inside a glass recipient; For example: Baking Powder, Dried spices (Bay leaves, Cloves, cinnamon, etc...)
Great information, I also store nuts, salt, pepper, powered garlic and bullion cubes. ❤
Bouillon
@jamesprior2496Thanks for Slaping me in the face! You've never hit the wrong key before!
Any food like beans, oats, milk powder
and pasta can be vacuum sealed in glass jars and will keep for years
Flour, you can do the same thing with flour.I had to last for a long time
Thanks I discovered that Purity of baking Soda over the years, I kept the box in a dry cupboard it's still good now I knew
I used it 2 months ago it was still good, I am trying now to throw it because I am not using it
Now that I have this video I will learn more.
In the Phil. we have dried fishes, mongo beans, bagoong, salted eggs, different kinds of pancit, dried fruits as mangoes, etc.
I also love this country
Bottled water does expire after while. Yeah that salt thing is ok but you need to keep iodized salt on hand because the body needs iodine. Salt is the easiest way to get what you need. I also have sea salt and pink hymilayan salt on hand ALWAYS
Yes Sir but my Credit is not enough little by little I will listening I am an elderly person you have taught me a lot.
I see the other videos as time goes on its phone I use read and know about things I didn't know or have forgotten
Thanks very much!
I'm still eating canned beans and canned corn that expired in 2018. They're fine. Look up online how long canned stuff REALLY lasts.
Shelf life for food.
It says best by not spoiled by
@lindasargent1929 They are still delicious! sometimes the green bean color might fade a wee bit, but they are still good!
I recently read canned beans can go toxic, black beans, kidney beans etc, so please check carefully before use ....
Please be careful
I advise a couple of spare can openers, the less fancy, the longer it will last. Also, the pop top cans are more likely to expire sooner, because of the ease of opening, it can be more damaged i think.
I stopped using electric can openers since the hand ones have greatly improved
Notice they put alot into pop top cans...try to avoid them for storage.
Educational
I found this information very helpful having a a well stocked pantry is a must for my household very well done thank you
Please share this video with more people

Yep and you can taste it in those old bottles too I think about the third time you use them you can taste the plastic I don't buy water but just a waste of money get you coal filter inlet filter it out rocks is a filter too especially with the spring
The images are very confusing. They don’t always fit the description
Some don't even taste good for drinking again.
What about foods are in a 110* and 116* And 122 * Degrees ???
Thank you understand , shocking!
Once I took my daughter to the doctor when she was about 6 months old. She was real fussy. She was not hungry or a bad diaper. Anyway I gave her a pacifier and I put a little hunny on it. The doctor freaked out and said do not give that baby honey. It can cause poisoning to a baby.
Salt in a non-airtight container will absorb moisture from the air and thereby become useless.
very nice
White vinegar is made out of leftover oil sludge that comes from barrels of oil after refinery. Good real brown vinegar made from apples are better for the body. You can use other items to make it but apples are better. To each their own.
I would use the white vinegar for cleaning.
How ridiculous. It's amazing what people will believe. White vinegar is made from grain alcohols and yeast. Oil sludge. smh
So dumb, use google
A very usefull information, i will rwmenber it, thankyou a lot ❤❤

This is like WWII aĺl over again, but without the actual "war"
Its the modern war .
WWII ???...what are you talking about...Americans have no clue about the effects of war on their populations.
Salt needs to be with iodine. Without the iodine is not Kosher either.
also a food you can leave outside to never rot is "Vegimite"
And Marmite if you're in SA.
Good to know about salt because I just threw my Himalayan salt in the trash! I thought it would last but according to you it won't.
Just buy McDonald's it's loaded with preservatives and will outlast you!!
In that situation, you become food - scary.
An You could be waiting forever for ⚖️,lol...Good to knows....👍
Good! Hope it helps. Have a good day and try getting some rest. I woke up late. At 7:15

Does food store longer in jars or in mylar bags? There is so much information out there and, to be honest, is doing my head in. If l am wanting to store food for long time storage, l am worried about that food going off. I am also aware of food rotation but does one need to do the rotation if storing food long term???
Thank you for this information ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
Please someone bring these Government's to court; In international law there is a legal clause called "Occupiers Liability" that means the head boss, can be held liable for the wrong doing of their workers; in the case of all these harmful ingredients and poisons in our foods, it is the Government that allows this nightmare and gives the final approval and so is the head boss, that according "Occupiers Liability" can an should be held liable. Personally I'd like to put all the president's ,food company leaders, and premiers, on an island and let them live on all these harmful foods and drinks.
Thanks for your comment on your food that last long
I actually meant this, my initial comment for a video that was pointing out all the harmful stuff that the Government allows companies to sell to us.
We never know what will happen in the near future so we better keep them all at home...
Oh yeah, imagine a day where the grocery stores were empty and we couldn’t leave our homes. .! Oh wait…
Love all this information ❤
Thank you for the support
Thanks for the info.
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
Before going to the store I fill a dish pan with water, vinegar and salt or baking soda . So when I come home edibles go straight into the dish pan to be scrubbed, because even knowing better I have shoved a plastic bag of fruit or veg into the refrigerator where I'm sure "I'll get to it later". We all know about "best intentions ". Select your food carefully, do your best to remove the residue, then vacuum seal it in jars to await use.
Great idea for fresh items! The rice i had put by in gallon jars was NOT vac-packed and after 8 years i tried some on a whim, and it had turned rancid as old cooking oil, maybe edible but smelled and tasted disgusting.
If you’re using a gallon of water to clean veg how much of the other ingrediens do you add to the water?
I do the same. Always wash your veggies as soon as you get home. Who knows who handled them before you did. The storage warehouse, truck or even the store shelves could be contaminated. I use about 1/4 cup to a 1.5 gallons or so.
Very interesting video Thanks for the information

I have started to purchase things from your videos. As for power, 2,400 W of solar. Plus a 60 amp DC-DC charger. For me,Water is my weakness.
I had white rice go rancid after the best before date. It was stored in a closed Rubbermaid container in the pantry!
What about apple cider vinegar? Is it good for storing?
I’ve read in some articles that white vinegar destroys white blood cells.
Thank you for tha information and knowledge sir absolutely right and valuable. From Philippines🇵🇭

What makes this simple list takes 29 minutes?
You forgot one essential item: date. Date is very healthy and lasts for many years.

If Salt and sugar looses it taste so isn't that kinda spoiling?
I would also add the following to your list, flour, dry yeast, lentils (red and green), pickles and Jams.

Wait a second. I open the refrigerator and there’s no food? I cannot go to the store? I can’t even go outside? Wow. That’s my life right now! Almost no immune system, multiple disabilities and on disability after working some decades. I’m homebound, aka can’t go outdoors (anthrax, and all kinds of diseases exist in the environment) or to a store. It’s tough to get food in sometimes. I have little money, despite long service working for the state as an auditor.
I am maybe ten seconds into this video. I do hope I get some options. I got nothing now
Water bottled in plastic has expiry date. Water needs to be stored in glass or inox containers only
