- "The Rose" is a pop song written by Amanda McBroom and made famous by Bette Midler who performed it in the 1979 film of the same name. This song is forever cemented in my heart, I can’t help but cry when. I listen to it as I’ve had the pleasure of singing it at my drama Teacher’s funeral. It was once of her favorite songs 🌹 I had the divine privilege of having this beautiful remarkable woman as my teacher mentor and friend all 4 years of high school, and even after I graduated we still kept in touch, sadly in 2010 she was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer 😭 it broke my heart that this once beautiful vibrant woman who had inspired so many people was now reduced to a hospital bed. And the last thing she told me was that she wasn’t scared and she leaves this earth. Without one single regret! And if would please sing at her funeral & when I asked her which song she would like she said “ The Rose 🌹” that was the last time I saw her, 4 days later she was gone😭😢I honored her last wish when I sang I fought to not cry, but the tears came anyway 😪I miss that wonderful lady every day 💔🖤 RIP Mrs Johnson

Roses are very beautiful. I really love roses very much. I find this song very sad and touching because it makes me think about my loving father being alive because he passed away peacefully in his sleep with heart failure on May 9th at the age of 82 in the living room on the armchair at my house. I find it very sad because he died so suddenly and unexpectedly and I was very close to him. I am still grieving because I saw this lively person so happy and supposedly fine in the morning, lunch, and afternoon and all of a sudden he died so quickly like that. I am taking his loss so badly.

Chad Lamb I feel ya! I always cry when listen to it, I sang this song at my drama teacher’s funeral. She passed away in 2010 of pancreatic cancer, she a was a wonderful remarkable vibrant woman! & She was a HUGE Bette Midler fan this was her favorite song, I loved this lady like a mother ❤️ her last wish was to sing this song at her funeral, as hard as I fought to not cry my efforts were useless because the tears came pouring out like Niagra Falls! Paul Nichter Sorry but you've made yourself look quite foolish as The Rose was only chosen for the Bette Midler movie and soundtrack (after being written and performed around cafe bars by Amanda McBroom) Janis Joplin never recorded this song [FOR YOUR OWN SAKE CHECK YOUR SOURCES BEFORE ARGUING AGAINST ME HERE]. I'll leave you to look everywhere for that non existent recording... but as you say, it's good to learn your music history!!!
