The City is a proof that numbers on paper doesn't translate to how the car drives.. I always recommend people to test drive cars before considering bcs HP and Torque is merely a reference, as for how the cars drive is gonna be a completely different experience which you must find out yourself. One thing I always appreciate about Hyundai is it always sets new standards in the rather dry indian market.. they go above and beyond.. which makes other manufacturers which were inert to level the play field Id pick city, but never underestimating the recent competition.. our market was always in need of competition.. this means the sedan segment will be reignited (hopefully) City is a brilliant car.. but the competition is very strong this time around.. im really happy it is cuz now well see a back and forth healthy battle which will bring in superb versions of the Verna, Virtus and City.. or hell even new competitors! Ik that Verna has more power. But there’s a different fun in taking ur car to 7000 rpm. U can see that Faisal is driving the city above 100 kmph and mostly going in 1st and 2nd gear in city. But while driving verna I barely saw the speedometer having 3 digit numbers. And that too he took Verna till 4th gear most of the time. But Honda should definitely give turbocharged engine.
I had Hyundai i20 and had a horrible experience with the music system in that car. The service center broke it and was asking 60k to replace it. That’s why I skipped Verna because it has a fully digital speedometer as well as AC controls which are really expensive to replace if they break down. Hyundai, even though provides decent looking things, doesn’t last that long. I went with the new city and really happy with it.
I have my i20 since 2015 and it has never given me any issue till now. So I booked new Verna DCT AMT but then I cancelled it and booked XUV700. Agree with your point about body quality. That’s where Hyundai needs to improve.
Hey the same thing happened to me , got to the service centre , they asked 60k to replace , then I got to some local shops and they replaced it for a very less price (I don't remember itbwas about 2 years ago) And now I am here , still happy with my i20 With literally no issues it

Definitely Honda city any day for its sophisticated yet elegant looks plus ivtec engine is cherry on top. I think verna is bit too overdone and screams attention. I have city 4th generation for 5 years and ivtec engines revs like it is still brand new, plus the peace of mind you have with honda is unmatched.

The old Verna looked good for it’s time, but it looked a little…generic. It was starting to age, so they had to facelift it. And coming from the design language the Tucson and Elantra followed, the New Verna is almost perfect lookwise. I just don’t like the rear.

At higher speed city bounces ,with me alone i could do 130Kmph top speed i did not get confidence above that . With Full occupied i did 150kmph belive me no one could figure out i was at 150kmph (Bangalore -Hyderabad).It was fun but not advisable 😅 I drive automatic to save my left leg it lacks puch,but sports mode enough for me push this one .

Dynamics is not that great in Verna , but it's good in terms of features and performance for turbo petrol. Whereas city is great on performance in naturally aspirated petrol engine that also in manual transmission.

Its just that Indian variant haven't tested by GNCAP niether sleeping giant brand is willing to send it voluntarily..
They have used 980 Mpa of Ultra high strength steel and Advanced high strength steel in 5th gen(upto 45%) and improved the platform rigidity by 24% compared to 4th gen City.. Although Body Shell integrity of 4th gen was UNSTABLE but 5th gen will definitely score better (5 star) rating in GNCAP..Also from base variant it has 6 airbags,ESP,3 point seatbelts for all passengers,isofix mounts etc and from 2nd base V gets ADAS etc features which will result in better score

Dynamics is not that great in Verna , but it's good in terms of features and performance for turbo petrol. Whereas city is great on performance in naturally aspirated petrol engine that also in manual transmission.
