  • Isukuti is a traditional Luhya cultural beat that comprises of at least two drums and other instruments like metal rings. The big drum produces heavy sound and the accompanying smaller drums produce slightly higher pitch sound when played using bare inside palm of hands.
    A band may comprise of a soloist, drummists and players of the metallic rings.
    Isukuti is played during celebrations such as great achievements, welcoming guests etc. Its also played during funerals and seen as a revered way of sending off loved ones.It is also popular during Bull Fighting bouts in Ikolomani and Shinyalu sub counties of Kakamega populated by the Idakho and Isukha sub-tribes of the Luhya.
    Isukuti is now recognized by UNESCO.
