Slow does it. Practice at slow tempo, 50/60 bpm or whichever feels excruciatingly slow to you. Once you’ve practiced at those speeds a million times, confidence will take over, and panic will mostly go away.
My cello teacher thinks that this is a really great way to play this piece of music and I agree. The Grade 5 ABRSM Exam pieces version is very fast and in my mind lacks this character. I will be playing it in a similar fashion in my exam
I play your music to my boys at bedtime. I just realized your videos do not have ads! I wouldn't have minded but I think it's awesome! I love you even more!
I love this piece. You & your pianist friend play it so well! I'm an adult learner, just starting Book 3. As always, when I'm learning a new piece, I come to your channel to see how to play it. Many thanks! :)
I'm working on this piece looks amazing the rhythm is amazing as well .played cello for 2 years is amazing being a cellist well I'm just starting hope my additions is going to be great. for his pice. yet again amazing song and performance.
If your playing this after 1 1/2 years, you are progressing very quickly and doing well! I played this in my grade 5 exam mid-march 2016, just two weeks short of having played the cello for only 1 1/2 years myself.
+Rupert Paton Yeah I just love the cello. I am self taught and at school they finally let me in the orchestra this year as a cellist because before they had to many cellos so I played violin and viola sometimes (which is still good but cello is the BEST) Now I am on another Gavotte in this book in C minor ironically 😂
A decir verdad la música enamora y hoy me enamoré de esta mujer por su gran talento y dedicación que hace que al verla me maraville como ejecuta un instrumento que en mis manos sería desastre y espantarla ,gracias Rachel ,
Originally titled Rondeau from "Pieces de Viol," Book 1, No. 24, Suite in d minor by Marin Marais. It was written for viola da gamba and published in 1680. The Suzuki version is taken from a corrupted 19th century edition. I found out from one of my viola da gamba students and then located it myself. There is a recording on RUclips by Philippe Perliot ruclips.net/video/2mcEyj39RY4/видео.html Played with notes inegales (swung).
I'm playing this for my solo in competition next month. wish me luck

My son is 7 years and also practicing cello. Your performance is his favorite one! Thank you Rachel for posting this amazing video!
You are welcome. Glad to hear your 7 yr-old also play the cello. 👍
When she goes up the scale she sounds so graceful but I play it sort of sounds like I’m panicking.. can’t quite get my bowing right..
Your not alone bro
This is how I used to be with it, and after many sight reading, position, and scale books I am much more comfortable with this song

Excellent playing on both the cello and also the pianist is very good at matching her tone and style.
Using this to audition for the orchestra magnet program, you play so amazing! Listening has really helped me understand the piece more, thanks! ❤️

L'inizio mi ha ricordato Bach ...
... magari J.S. Bach si è "ispirato" a Lully ...
