Hi, I'm a second year PhD student in nanomedicine.
The tech shown in this video is clever and exciting, but functionally not dissimilar to formulations I've used preclinically before, and will face all the same issues current actively targeted nanoparticles do. Most importantly, there is not much difference at all between cancer cells and our cells, only slight differences such as overexpression of certain receptors and different metabolism rates. The purpose of a technology like the one shown is to increase the therapeutic window of an anti-tumoural agent, but it will still have a limited window. This vector will have off target effects - there is simply no way they are only targeting cancer cells. There is no treatment which only targets cancer cells.
These innovations take decades to reach clinic. As we improve our biological understanding of tumours, we will see the viability of this technology improve. Personally, I think this technology has a great use case in anti-bacterial treatment, as viral vectors can exclusively target bacteria.
I'll do some reading about this - super interesting and ty for the video.

Although I hope it will be specific in which species of bacteria it attacks. I like to keep my digestive system working. And all 'defense' bacteria that occupy places harmful bacteria could infect if left vacant.

I was planing on writing my thesis on this idea which at the time I independantly thought of. It's exciting to see that what I've thought of before alone is also being thought of by real professional scientists around the world. It really gives me confidence in my thinking capabilities. I even once thought of a theoratical cancer vaccine which I later saw that 2 scientists got the Nobel for thinking about it. I really hope I get to do something in the future. I'm currently an undergrad in Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering. And hope to study my mastar's in Synthetic Biology or Bioengineering abroad. Preferably, a Deucht or Scandanavian country. With scholarship of course.

I would like to advocate for extreme caution for creating such things. Viruses mutate. If you use the same DNA to make your Nano robot then it is also subject to mutation. Hopefully well thought out and effective safe guards are put in place. Every thing that uses DNA or mRNA to replicate is potentially dangerous due to possible mutations just ask any biologist. I can see the promise of things like that but some of the worst things in history were done with the best intentions.

A team of researchers at Tel Aviv University in Israel has come up with tiny micro-robots that can scan individual cells to tell whether they're healthy or in trouble.
Measuring only ten microns in diameter, this tiny robot utilizes both electric and magnetic fields for navigation. To put this in perspective, a human hair is approximately 70 microns. The human eye cannot see anything under 40 microns. 6:16 [Industry Tap; Phys]

Microrobots are usually smaller than a millimetre but as large as a micron - that's between a 1,000th of a metre to a millionth of a metre in size. Nanorobots are even more minute - smaller than a millionth of a metre, or about a 100th the width of a hair. 9:19 [European Union]

There is increasing optimism that nanotechnology applied to medicine and dentistry will bring significant advances in the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
Overall, Switzerland plays a significant role in the global nanotechnology community and is known for its high-quality research and innovation in this field.

Personally, I doubt that little trust I had before is ever coming back, but hey, that's just me, I don't mean to spoil your optimism. Also, at least for now, it seems to me that it's not so much of a "one size fits all" as it's "no size fits at all". But I suppose that's going to improve with time and more work. Too bad, as I've otherwise been a real technology geek, including the pharmaceutical innovations, but this field at least had become a red zone for me.

nano machines huh? can they HARDEN IN RESPONSE TO PHYSICAL TRAUMA

    • @hangingthief71
      @hangingthief71 2 года назад +1

no but they can be biometric sensors that communicate wirelessly with your smart watch and phone, known as the internet of bio nano things. and they can transduce radiofrequency like light sound or magnetism to target specific areas of the brain that have been gene edited to produce proteins that are sensitive to those frequencies(optogentics, sonogenetics, magnetogenetics) which allows minimally invasive brain computer interface and the ability to wirelessly sense and modulate the brain(mind reading/control) that last one is still a few years out, its been accomplished in gene edited rats but to gene edit the brain of adult humans without putting them on an operating table i think you need to have viral vectors that can target the deep brain with cellular specificity.
those are the in body uses of nano i am most familiar with. nano in the marcocosm is even more violent.

      No it's dangerous very
      It use DNA and RNA
DNA and RNA are usually mutating
So this nano tech might mutate into something far more worst then we imagine
Great technology equals to great risk

I am sure they did this by now and I think with me. I had a surgery. I waited six weeks to go on my vacation. I go to the airport, I am scanned and my girl area lit up. The security was trying to take me to a room then she said sorry, you can go now it appears you have a device....no, not that I am aware of... is this it?

Imagine a creature rampant with disease, flesh rotting, and a mind rampant with the psychosis of an extended life and what that can do to the human mind. Immortal and living in the gap between life and death a true horror against the laws of nature. The nanobots inside care nothing for the host, but only worry about the efficiency by which they keep their symbiotic host “alive”. Nothing can be closer to the word “zombie”, what a huge mistake.

What i want to know is if this can be use to completely rewrite your DNA. An example is to remove flaw DNA strain that cause all timer and so on that get pass down to your kids... Of course am more focus on being able to change one own DNA to what you want instead of what you was born with.

When time comes, we do not have to seek a doctor when something is wrong, the nanobots will be able to send a read signal from the body to a doctor, that a symptom has occured and the patient won't even have to think about what is prescribed or have the feeling of a symptom will show.
It is like walking around with a hidden cold.

This video is fantastic, and I am thankful for it. However, cancer is a nasty illness, and I believe that everyone, regardless of their issues, should seek care. I strongly advise cancer patients to join support groups so they do not have to go through it alone. Sometimes having someone who has been through what you are going through is preferable than having someone who can only fathom what you are going through. Personally, I suggest the Truth About Cancer support group. This group has about 6000 members who all support each other. They investigate alternative cancer therapies, which are really beneficial. This group can be found on the social media site facebook. I really hope that everyone survives and overcomes this dreadful illness!
