Belal simply can’t exploit the same weakness Garry can. He isn’t anywhere near the range fighter Garry is, doesn’t have the same counterpunching threat, doesn’t have the same clinch defense, and on top of that he’s much shorter. Belal can still win with a wrestling pace, but drawing the conclusion that shavkat gets destroyed by belal when it’s an extremely different matchup is braindead.

I’m surprised Pantoja hasn’t called for a double champ fight, hasn’t really got anything left to prove in his division having beaten 9 (likely 10 cause Asakura’s now in the rankings) of the top 10, some of them twice. Most deserving of a shot at a second belt of any of the current champions.
How is it DJ’s fault for beating the best competition available to him, who knows he probably could’ve beaten tougher competition you have to factor that in
21:07 yes it's easier to hit Belal, but he didn't really show anything that says he could stop Belal from getting in. Wonderboy has better movement and sharper striking than Shavkat, and Belal still got in. Belal has gotten in on nearly every fighter he's fought, I really don't think it would be a no-go because Shavkat is more powerful. On top of that, Belal did better standing in-space with Wonderboy than Shavkat did. And if Shavvy's instinct is to crash into his opponent with a body lock Belal is going to scoop him, or grab a leg and turn the corner. I would actually lean Belal if they fought now, or had Shavkat out on the performance he did last night. Same for Garry. I think they likely get outworked and out-wrestled by Belal.
Pantoja has a great story behind, great walkout song, great fight streak, great resume but more importantly he's fighting better competition than DJ ever did.
The issue with Ian that I spotted the most is his lack of firepower and volume with his striking. He would throw a lot of feints at Shakvat, but at the same time, he wasn’t being very active with his strikes. Barely any punch combinations and he instead would throw occasionally leg/body kicks and a decent jab. He had a nice head kick too that he partially landed on Shavkat, but that’s about it💯.
Bro dj was pfp nr 1 during jon jones prime and was top level pfp when aldo, silva and gsp were still fighting. This is just your bias. We all know no other fighter would take a fight knowing damn well they already have the title shot in the bag. He played it safe, and I don't blame him at all.

@@kingt0295 average ranked heavyweights knock eachother out it's fun. Van and Kai kara France are fun but are you excited to see them get outgrappled by pantoja? I'm not
@@JayBobert-h1l yea true but I mean overall the division is better, Tom Aspinall is a much much more exciting champ than pantoja but the level of the divisions themselves outside of the champ isn’t really close imo, I’ll take a flyweight fight night main event over a heavyweight one but ofc a HW PPV main event over a flyweight one
@kingt0295 I agree with you. The problem isn't the fighters themselves but the division as a whole just feels stagnant
37:15 Gane lost the 3rd but the round that should’ve clearly been given to Volkov was the second. Volkov outstruck Gane and had the submission attempt. Idk what the judges were watching
flucas finally giving pantoja the props he deserve
We need to see Islam Makhachev fight for the 170 title. I'm pretty sure he would be a betting favorite over Belal or Shavkat. It's rare for a fighter chasing double champ status to be this likely to win.
Belal has to lose for that to happen, he aint fighting him
shavkat by murder bro
@@Tobe-rt5ruthats what sucks the most, who beats belal at ww? Islam might not get to fight for the second belt
@bulgarski_krastonesetsno way man! we definitely saw his murdering capabilities last night!
@@gioofv fr he’s just a different beast

Belal simply can’t exploit the same weakness Garry can. He isn’t anywhere near the range fighter Garry is, doesn’t have the same counterpunching threat, doesn’t have the same clinch defense, and on top of that he’s much shorter. Belal can still win with a wrestling pace, but drawing the conclusion that shavkat gets destroyed by belal when it’s an extremely different matchup is braindead.
Its time for Ilia Evloev or Evloev Lopes 2
There's no way winning to the number 9 gives you a title shot
It’s time for Evloev vs Merab for the ultimate decision championship
@@EG-mw8kp He has the best wins of any contender at 145 who is yet to fight Ilia.
Ige, Lopes, Allen, Sterling > Sabatini, Yusuff, Ige, Ortega
Its not even close.
If its not Ilia vs Volk 2, it should be Ilia vs Evloev. Evloev has done way more than Lopes, including beating Lopes.
Evloev Lopes 2 or Even Evloev Volk as there’s no KO threat 😂
@@EG-mw8kpaljo is ranked 9 but is definitely one of the best guys in the division. I think aljo is better than Ortega and Evloev on paper got the win against Allen and beat lopes so it’s a new stylistic matchup and lopes is already booked. I wouldn’t mind the fight.
Shavkat seemed to be way better when he shot freestyle instead of Upper body takedowns.
He worked so hard for dis GOAT STATUS!!!! 🎉🗿
Yes finally someone else said it. I am a biased pantoja fan but I truly believe he’s the most underrated and most under appreciated champ of all time
Idk about that man. He's up there but think of Matt hughes legacy bro. He never gets mentioned anywhere as like top 20 or something yet dudes got 9 title wins and one over gsp and bj Penn and hes got a crazy record 45 and 9. Think about how insane that is.
Aljo VS Evloev battle of the peppermint punches
DJ beat Horiguchi who was a Rizin FLW + BW champion and is also 1-1 with Kai.
I'm so happy Lucas is giving Pantoja his flowers. He should be higher on the P4P list
Shavkat just had his Khamzat v. Gilbert Burns moment.
I’m surprised Pantoja hasn’t called for a double champ fight, hasn’t really got anything left to prove in his division having beaten 9 (likely 10 cause Asakura’s now in the rankings) of the top 10, some of them twice. Most deserving of a shot at a second belt of any of the current champions.
impressive how pantoja has beaten himself
@@muxmastermann666champions aren’t ranked
When are you bringing back the Tracksuit?
How is it DJ’s fault for beating the best competition available to him, who knows he probably could’ve beaten tougher competition you have to factor that in
Dj lost when he moved up to fight Dom Cruz
@@JayBobert-h1lhe didn’t move up he was forced to fight in that division
Pantoja = 3 defenses
DJ = 11 defenses
How is that close?
On my life lucas just wants garry to buy the cookbook 💀
Shavkat turned into Mario Bautista
JUSTICE FOR VOLKOV
Volkov flew ✈️ home to Russia 🇷🇺 to tell Putin after that robbery 😂
saying all Russians like Putin is like saying all Afganis love ISIS
Anthony Smith goes into "holding pattern" when he's in bottom position
Gonna be honest Lucas, Pantoja needs the Figgy get back for GOAT contention.
every month a new goat
You can tell Garry has been putting in work on his bjj he could be a future champ for sure
It feels like Shavkats hype took more of a hit than Ian’s did
Pantoja has a great story behind, great walkout song, great fight streak, great resume but more importantly he's fighting better competition than DJ ever did.
I shed some tears for ol Lion Heart
Bro dj was pfp nr 1 during jon jones prime and was top level pfp when aldo, silva and gsp were still fighting. This is just your bias. You always say you're not biased and you look at it from a objective lense yet you always push for new fighter to pass the old generation on lists. You quite literally always say we need new goats
Ian Garry just needed the power boost from his new shorts.
As a Shavkat fan I agree with you. He's a good striker with great clinch and with "ok* wrestling. He needs to work on his wrestling game. Thx for the recap👌🏻
Truly distraught about our guy lionfart...
they rewarded gane for taking a dive to make jones look like the unstoppable monster they keep hyping him up to be.
6:20 small fries
Pantoja is already better than DJ. Mighty Mouse’s opponents were mostly cans. Sad reality of fighting at 125 when he did. Pantoja’s record is more impressive already

Lucas, with all due respect, I haven’t watched the video yet, but you were one of the main guys disrespecting Pantoja since the beginning of his title run, you’re the only MMA content creator I watch, and I remember you calling him a snoozer.
Shavkat had a guaranteed shot at the title, no fighter on the roster would take a fight still after belal pulled out. He still took the fight and wanted to make sure to get the win. We all know no other fighter would take a fight knowing damn well they already have the title shot in the bag. He played it safe, and I don't blame him at all.
Good picks this week Flukas 👍
Pantoja just hit crafty vet status
Real
bryan battle clearly lost that fight. i have no idea what people were watching, sure battle is the bigger name but he still lost regardless.
DJ literally helped build the flyweight division. Holding a lack of high level competition against him is not his fault. He was dominant throughout, unlike Pantoja, who has gone to 5 round decisions with most of his.
Almeida will be Tom’s toughest test
Did Ian change his diet for this one, he looked more solid physically than in his previous fights
Volkov robbery took away my 5 pick parlay. Lost out on 4800😔 Depression hit hard when they came out with that decision.
Taking into account we are in a new era of the ufc, I’d say if pantoja gets three more defenses he’s the flyweight goat. he doesn’t need to hit djs record but he has to atleast make it look like he could
